You are allowed to hate anything you want, and while you can express your feelings, it shows a negative tendency to project your feelings on everyone else

Personally, I think that you are a crass man.

...in three years I've never known you to be this defensive. I certainly would have never thought this based either on your posts or the messages we have exchanged (yes, yes we have...over the last three years I've had three different handles).

This hair thing must be AWFUL personal for you, especially since my post wasn't directed at you PERSONALLY.

Since I consider this atypical behavior for you, I am going to not respond beyond pointing it out...which is atypical behavior for me. But I actually respect you...a lot...so in this instance I am going to practice some of that "being a better person" stuff I claim to be interested in....

Could it be possible that women with short hair prescibe to a more open-minded view of what beauty is?

And how does this work? The short hair doesn't put as much of a drain on the brain?

If you've got a pretty face, you're pretty

Who decides what "pretty" is? There are societal standards, but it also rests on the taste and opinion of the individual. But I agree--hair is a complement, not the end all. I have seen striking women with no hair; I have seen ugly women with long hair.

well.......we do.
as long as women expect us to chase them then its going to be what a we men perceive as beauty. every man has their own personal perception of beauty.

My hair was to my waist or longer for most of my youth. It's been lots of different lengths since then, including very short. I grew it back down to my waist a couple years ago and cut it to donate only a few months ago. It's on it's way back to being long again so I can do the same thing in about another year.

You are definitely Some Woman! What a loving thing to do. I have a male friend that does this also. He donates it to an orgaization that makes wigs for children who are cancer patients.

On Topic,

I find that men do look at me more when my hair is long. And they play with it more. Love when a man runs his fingers through my hair, or washes it for me when we're in the shower togehter.

It's also very sexy to let it brush his skin when making love.

I have occasionally cut mine short when I'm swimming alot 'cause it dries so much faster. But I always grow it back because I love how it feels. And men of my generation love to see a sassy ponytail bouncing when I walk by!

up until about 8 years ago I had hair down to my backside. Then got a job at my local swimming pool. Cue chlorine damage. I went in Monday and had a few inches cut off. Back in Tuesday. By the end of the week, I had a buzz cut. So much easier to care for. I had 'teddy bear hair'.

Then came the dyke comments. Then the pain of growing it back. From ear length to pony tail length is a complete PITA. Couldn't do a thing with it.

Now it's long enough to pull back in a french braid, or leave out.

I never noticed any difference in the way I was treated (except for people assuming I was gay), or the way I thought.

I have better things to do than defend myself to trolls.

Awww now why do you go calling me names. Oh I guess because I am not "special" if I post a comment on another's opinion I am then a troll ... and if others do it, well we all know those who feel they are kings/queens of the forums. So hilarious to me.

I still FEEL that dumping a woman because she chooses to cut her hair for what ever reason shows a lack of commitment and could not be trusted to stick in the event that a physical mishap could come to a partner.

So as I said, if a man dumped a woman because she cuts her hair then it is very good for that woman to know how superficial he could be in certain circumstances. That all.

If it upsets you, if the shoe fits then wear it.

If a woman would leave a man because of him cutting his hair I would say she is the most superficial woman, and so same to the man.

I could nearly guarantee that the men who posted that they would be so pizzed or leave a woman who cut her hair would be the FIRST to bash a woman who would do that to a man ....

Just my little opinion thats all ...

It irritates me when men write to me and only mention my hair and nothing else about me. Can't they think of something else to write? In some cases, it seems that any other personality traits I may have (even incompatible ones) are of little interest to them.

Didn't know hair was a 'personality' trait..? What are your other pesonality traits ? long fingernails..? Small feet..? My shallow alarm has gone off...

You look like blanche now.. Woulld you prefer a .22, .38 or a 9mm..??

Long hair, short hair; short, tall; big, little; country, city... diversity spices up life.... heck I like them all.

i dont know. for me its this. its personal preference. i said that before. me i am more the cowboy type i like short hair on a guy. and the long hair on the ladies drives me wild. i love stroking it, i love brushing a womans long hair, i love getting caught up in that moment where you find love and her hair is down and her eyes are sparkeling and the world seems to stop because wit that long hair, its like at that moment there is jsut us and the hair shields out the whole world. I had an ex that when my dad died she had long hair down to the middle of her back, and she wrapped her hair around me and dried my tears and i have never felt more saafe and secure. humm maybe its a security thing. but then i love a gal in a pony tail with a ball cap on. its great.

@janet4ever is it the hair topic or the fact we are all on the computer and never meet face to face. but believe it or not in some geographical areas it is actually a hot topic. i know a lot of suthern fathers wont let our girls date men with long hair and our boys a woman with short hair. it is a big issue

My hair is long and thick. It is a giant pain in the neck to keep it long. I have had it short from time to time, and I always love the freedom of it and the time saved.

However, I wear my hair long for one simple reason: more men seem to like it that way. I am probably going to lose my feminist card for that one, but it is the truth. Damn the truth!

I get questioned and rejected because of my hair often.
At lease I have some..

I look at it this way..
If they are willing to make that kind of a judgment
then they are not going to be secure enough with their own self,
to work as partners in the long run..

If I reversed the rolls and Said [as may ladies have]..
“Do you still have those highlight in your hair or that reddish tint”
Or .....if I asked a lady
“ You seem to be very interesting and I liked your profile.. would you mind dying your hair color to black and cutting it.. I might have an interest in meeting you”
I’d get laughed at..

I was even rejected once with…. she said….
“It would be easier for her to date and deal with a Gambler and someone with a Drinking Problem than my love of Singing Music and my hair.. go think..

I don’t worry about it.. at this age I am NOT going to change who I am
to try and get a date........... I am who I am..
I am OK with being rejected for who I am
Better to be rejected that way….Than trying to be something I am NOT and still being rejected for that image.

Lean to love yourself first and
accept other for what they bring or add to your life..

Avalon imo you look fabulous in your hair style.

It is such a personal decision. Most important is if you think you look good, then you project it.

Again my only aversion is men that have thinning hair and grow it long. I've never liked fringed jackets either.

Ken has never had long hair. There even was a Barbie that you changed her hair style - multiple wigs. I don't see that men have grown up only seeing women with one style that looked good, the same as women have seen men with many styles. I think the Barbie comparison in general is used to indicate blond hair, blue eyes, large chest, small waist, long legs, and always high heels. I don't see it as a particular hair style imo.

"Long vs short hair" ..

I've had verrrry short hair .. waaay back in the good old days .. I've had longgg hair for many years now .. and it's all natural .. the greys the blonde .. brown, red and oops .. a few more greys! :) .. It's the way "I" like it .. easy to care for - ponytails on those humid (frizzy) days .. "low maintenance" compared to those days when I had it short ..

On men?? I like the sort of hair that the individual guy is comfortable with himself. If he's bald as a babies bottom and happy with Who he is - I'm sure he'll look hot to me .. same as if he has long hair because he likes it that way .. long hair, short hair, no hair .. blahblah .. no matter - it's Who he is ..

This notion that people with long hair are "harder to approach" is just a bunch of whooo haa .. nonsense.

... Why did the chicken cross the road?
- That was No chicken!

Not to get too off-topic, but why is it that the older a woman gets, the shorter she cuts her hair?
Yeah, I wonder that too. I'd never cut my hair just to look 'proper' for my age. It gets to grow as long as it wants to, and I can always pin it up. I don't like short hair on me at all. I feel frumpy.

As for why longer-haired women might be harder to contact... it all depends on the sort of attention they are used to receiving. It may not be the hair itself but the 'entire look' which attracts certain men who might have a particular perception the woman doesn't want to encourage. Longer hair can make a woman feel more exotic: it would do so for me, anyway, and my resp0nse to emails from eager men would be to very carefully screen them for intent.
