| Does NASCAR on a thread make you want to date/not date someone? Posted: 7/14/2005 9:34:31 PM | To me i guess it depends ... my ex husband loved nascar and it drove me nuts ... I would start playing with him or kissing him during a race and he wouldnt even notice ... thats a big problem lol so when i hear a guy loves nascar my first thought is omg there is no way ... but if i really like the guy there is still a chance depends on how much he likes it .. if i can get him to tape a race so we can watch a movie together instead then im fine with it he can watch it later ... if he wont leave the room when the race is on then thats a problem lol | |

I think Sony Media Services and their Marketing department has done a wonderful job, sucking in the easily influenced by whatever is on Entertainment tonite. You know when Martha Stewart is running a segment on NASCAR, something is wrong, very very wrong.

Posted: 7/15/2005 9:29:56 AM | | Sports are defined as activities where in opposing teams on a field directly influence the outcome of the game by directing action against one another. i.e. football, baseball, hockey. Yes NASCAR is a sport. Drivers running at almost 200 mph racing within inches of each other, "rubbin" each others cars, blocking each others progress and sometimes putting someone into the wall counts as action against each others cars/teams. You don't see that in figure skating. You don't see someone out there trying to trip somebody up do ya.

As a matter of fact unless you have been in a stock car for that long of time without having a half time, commercial breaks or timeouts you can't really speak on it. There have been many atletes from baseball, hockey, basketball and football who after driving one of the cars for only about 20 minutes said it was more exhaustion than the sport they played and couldn't do it.
It is also runs from Feb. - Nov which is a damn long time for a season with if your lucky a month off that is if your not practicing at tracks.
I don't care if you don't like it or not but the idiotic comment about not being a sport is a little off

People should be able to be interested in what they want. I don't expect and in reality, don't want someone who is exactly the same as me...I'm looking more at who a man is, not what he does.

Sex can be exhausting, is sex a sport now too? Nascar consists of driving in circles. Driving is not a sport. It is a competition. The drivers are not athletes. Driving takes no athletic skill or talent. If driving is a sport and the drivers are athletes, then I guess tractor trailer drivers hauling cargo cross-country are athletes too!

Posted: 7/15/2005 4:01:17 PM | | Tommy I agree 100 percent!!!!!!!I tell these people the same thing-ANYBODY CAN DRIVE!!!!!!If my grandma practiced a couple weeks she could be in the next race. Not a sport-zero athletic ability involved-Z-E-R-O.I like to fish, not a sport though cause anybody can do it.None of these nascar "circle jerks" can throw a baseball 98 mph,or hit one for that matter.Throw a football 70 yds in the air, nahhhh.Shoot a puck 100 mph?Slam dunk a basketball, maybe?I don't care how much they practice-noooooooot gonna happen.Only "athletes" can do those things cause they are gifted.Uhh hu hu hu......"I's onlies waches fer th recks"-brilliant mucho intelligent.Let's set it straight once and "fer" all-Nascar is for people who do not comprehend "real" sports.

| Does NASCAR on a thread make you want to date/not date someone? Posted: 7/16/2005 4:57:11 PM | It is RED flag to me rather than a Green flag. The message it conveys to me is "fixated on the unimportant, beer, backwards baseball caps, loutish behavior and out of touch with what is important in the world" Of course that is not always accurate but, nonetheless, that is the picture that pops into my mind. Years ago I used to follow NASCAR (back when stock cars were STOCK cars) but since the demise of the almighty factory-built 426 hemi's and max wedges, it is just another roundy-round thing. It isn't just NASCAR though. It is professional "sports" in general, some like "dirt track" even more so. Religion isn't the "opiate of the masses". Sport are/is | |

"driving is a sport and the drivers are athletes, then I guess tractor trailer drivers hauling cargo cross-country are athletes too!"
...then I'd be a triathlete with some of the 36 hour "days" I've done. That includes driving loading and unloading.

Posted: 7/17/2005 1:18:28 PM | Indiana is full of nascar lovers..as well as bud light drinkers and mullet hairdos..oh I forgot the 1980 chevy pickup truck with the nascar stickers all over the windows. Hey..please at least I didn't pick on the 3 teeth in the front ones with a big marlboro hanging out his mouth. I know I am generalizing...so I moved to New Jersey....so now I can't say that anymore.

| Does NASCAR on a thread make you want to date/not date someone? Posted: 7/17/2005 3:49:11 PM | If someone tells me or writes he's a Nascar fan, I'm not interested.
Until the marriage broke up I lived only five houses from the Pettys, so I'm surrounded by fans. In fact I've met the Pettys on numerous occassions and they are nice people; I'm just not into the sport personally.
I've found, too, that the majority of fans under a certain income level have a similar mentality and it is one that I don't share.
But, hey, many Nascar fans aren't interested in the same things that I am, so it's no one's loss.

| Does NASCAR on a thread make you want to date/not date someone? Posted: 7/17/2005 8:01:34 PM | I have no preference. I enjoy watching Nascar with friends and picking cars to bet on makes it more entertaining also. But, it can get dull too. I have certain tracks I like better than others, also. So for the most part, during the summer if I can't be outdoors, I turn on the race, listen to music, do things around the house, and focus on the end. I enjoy the WorldOfOutlaws also but they took it off the air and you could watch those races in less than a hour, so they are easier to focus on for a entire race.
I don't consider the drivers as athletes, though. Like the driving a truck analagy, think of all the people who sit in a chair with a paddle in thier hand playing games.
I guess we all are athletes if they are. And my endurance is very good cause I sit a desk all day with my hands on the keyboard.

You're blooming right we are. Got news for you It takes a d*nm sight of skill to drive professionally be it a race car or a semi. More so in a semi, we have to spend a great part of our time not only safely handling our vehicle but also saving the life of some idiot car driver who is no more paying attentin to what s/he is doing than a man in the moon. Hell why watch the road when you have calls to make, meals to eat, makeup to put on, kids to slap, tv to watch, books to read, blow jobs to get I could go on and no.
Its ok, my zoloft is kicking in now......
