| Fellow world travelers? Where have you been, and where do you want to go? Posted: 9/5/2009 8:59:37 AM | Interesting forum. I suffer from wanderlust also. I do a significant vacation twice a year, and study the language of the country in which I intend to spend the most time. I have visited approximately 30 countries, and most of the U.S., several more than a few times. Some were for work, and I have no desire to return, however most were to treat my wanderlust and love of learning about other cultures and ways of life, even here within the U.S. I've recently returned from a month in Montpellier, FR., studying French, Lyon, experiencing the gastronomic fares, Paris, Tunisia, Jordan, and again to Egypt to allow a friend the pleasure of experiencing the pyramids for the first time. I'm exhausted from jet lag for a few weeks after my return, but I've recovered and am planning my next adventure. Any suggestions?? | |

| Fellow world travelers? Where have you been, and where do you want to go? Posted: 9/6/2009 8:45:57 AM | In Europe I have visited Sweden, Netherlands ,France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. I have visited Canada twice. In the Far East I have been to Hong Kong (3 times over 30 years), Macau, Thailand (5 times), Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
I would like to see other parts of the Far East such as Bali, Luang Pragang in Laos and Angkor Wat in Cambodia. I would also like to visit India, New Zealand, Peru and the USA one day.
When I was younger I fancied the Amazon Rain Forest, but now I am not so sure.

I would like to go to Finland, Romania, Russia, and Belgium sometime in the near future, and I would like to move to Germany in a couple of years to be closer to my relatives.

| Fellow world travelers? Where have you been, and where do you want to go? Posted: 9/6/2009 4:04:25 PM | I have visited every continent, and perhaps 40-50 countries, so it is apparent that I did not get it right the first time around so I need to do it all again!
Most memorable spots, for sheer granduer, way aheadof anything in second place, the best spot for sheer first on the list is the Antarctic, favorite cruising spots include Thailand/Malaysia and Indonesia, Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean and Madagascar, most interesting mix of cultures and diversity of population, Suriname.
But everyplace has its own uniqueness,
Regards to all my fellow vagabonds!

| Fellow world travelers? Where have you been, and where do you want to go? Posted: 9/12/2009 6:04:36 AM | | I just came back from Germany. I lived in Dresden for 2 years- beautiful city by the way. I was a "Teacher-Tourist" there and took every chance I could to visit other places. In two years I visited Paris, Lyon, Nice- Bruxxells, then Vienna, Zurich, Rome, Berlin, Prague & Stockholm. When you live in Europe you can take little mini vacations- Sometimes we even went just for a weekend. Last summer I visited Croatia and walked the city wall in Dubrovnik at sunset. Two of my favorite trips were to Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic- and El Quseir in Egypt. I am addicted to travel now. I just joined Housecarers.com. I'm thinking about house sitting in France or Germany. | |

| Fellow world travelers? Where have you been, and where do you want to go? Posted: 9/21/2009 11:53:41 PM | I too enjoy the travel bug, lol. I haven't been to nearly as many destinations as some of you but I am working on it. I have been to mostly all the eastern states while traveling with my father when I was younger. I have been to England about four times ,I started going to London and outskirts and now it's a yearly vacation . I have been to Rome and Florence Italy , Amsterdam , Cozumel and Playa del Carmen Mexico , Haiti, Jamaica , Grand Cayman Islands . Next trip will be again to London in November .
I am going to Santorini , Greece in June 2010. There's so many I still plan on visiting but I can't wait for a trip to Sydney Australia. I really enjoy traveling and love that so many of you love it too. I just need to catch up with some of guys. Whew! I wish I had some of your travel miles .

It's a little hard getting a visa to get to go to Russia(you can't just go with a passport), but it's well worth it. You can find very reasonably priced food and hotels and the nightlife is killer. Also, there are tons of historical monuments to see...make the Hermitage a must! It was the winter palace of Katherine the Great.
