| TESTIMONIALS,what a crock of well im to polite, lol Posted: 7/1/2009 2:07:05 PM | I haven't written any testimonials yet because I don't really know anybody on here that well however testimonials along the lines of "funniest guy on the forum", "super personality of the forum" and "best shag 2009" are all gratefully appreciated.
And besides who needs testimonials, blind people already know I'm a stud.

| TESTIMONIALS,what a crock of well im to polite, lol Posted: 7/1/2009 2:17:37 PM | I just can't take them seriously after seeing someone write one themself (whilst in the guise of their opposite sex alter ego) and post it on their profile. That just made me realise that you can't believe all your read or see on profiles.
If someone is genuinely searching for love then I guess a bit of a boost from those who know them in real life could be worthwhile in terms of backing up what they say, but I'd agree with Mac in a way and only find that valid if they really knew the person well in real life and were able to give a fair account. Otherwise they could get done for false advertising or something.

Indeed. They might act in the opposite way as well, if someone has loads of testimonials, it might make people think they don't have a chance as that person is so popular.

| TESTIMONIALS,what a crock of well im to polite, lol Posted: 7/20/2009 8:28:40 AM | I recently came across a seemingly attractive and dynamic lady whose profile, photos, and narrative gave me no reason to disbelieve her "credentials." However, included in her profile was a testimonial from a guy who seemed overly effusive in praising this lady (great dancer, high integrity, etc.) In addition, the guy stressed that he is "very selective" about people he dates or chooses to be around. I guess this was supposed to demonstrate how special the testimonee is.... and it was this "very selective" quip that I found suspicious and amusing at the same time. That's because I must have read this same guy's testimonials in the profiles of about 40-50 different women! One of these ladies had included me in her "faves" list, so I thought to mention this observation to her, and she responded to tell me she met the guy briefly at a place she either managed or owned and had very little interaction with him, though she did introduce him to some of her friends at the place (apparently, this was some kind of party). She also opined to me that she thinks the writing of testimonials was some kind of game this guy enjoyed playing, because she clearly didn't know him and, more importantly, he did not know her well enough to endorse her socially.
And that's the point... These testimonials are often times hyperbolic expressions of praise that should be taken with an infinitesimal amount of halite.
As I told the lady, I thought the guy's praise of her, though perhaps and probably accurate, was nonetheless diluted by the number of times he offered testimony on behalf of others. I likened it to that Seinfeld episode where the handsome pediatrician in the Hamptons tells Elaine he thinks she is "breathtaking", and yet later he'd use the same expression to describe a rather unattractive baby.

Testimonials are nearly always arse kissy and stomach churning and I would avoid any man who had one of them on his profile. This is different to the ones you see that have been written by members friends, they are more credible but the gushy "oooh whoever gets him is a lucky girl" type are just laughable to me. in fact i would go so far as to say they are pathetic

True, for the most part those exaggerated testimonials could easily be written by good friends having a laugh, the intention being that the testimonial should not be taken seriously.
I like the ones where they describe the person on the profile as a mad psycho biatch with pleas from the writer to readers to help them escape from the biatch's cellar cum torture chamber or the ones where a fantastical story of mythical proportions evolves when you profile hop from testimonial recipient to testimonial writer, it's hugely entertaining.
You can't help but admire some people's ingenuity and sense of humour.

Yup, they are only a guide to a person's personality.
It is up the individual to make up their own mind about a person...

I wrote my testimonial for him and he said it gave him more luck as women could see I actually KNEW him in real life and could vouch for his character.
