@luvstobeme

I think you are awesome! Yay YOU!

As for reading and singing to the little men, their teachers will thank you. Studies show that reading to your children is THE number one thing you can do to to give them an edge in school. Man, my kiddies used to LOVE that "Wheels on the Bus" song....brings back memories.

Hang in there! Your hard work will pay off in the end.

Let's see, what can I brag about?

Well, my son is weight training 3 mornings a week this summer with some of the best high school football coaches in the country. He'll be playing for a team that played the National Champions in the playoffs last season, so I'm VERY excited and proud of him.

My little one has the cutest biggest blue eyes with long lashes and little freckles sprinkled across his nose. He's at a camp where he goes swimming twice a week and to 2 field trips to state parks a week. He is making lots of friends and is being very well behaved while I'm working. So proud of him!

I just put my home on the market and moving into a 3 bedroom/2 bath house that has a huge built in pool in the backyard, it has a garage and a fenced in back yard, a fireplace and 2 living rooms. Finally I wont have to share a bathroom with my two handsome sons ;-) They are excited and we are planning a big pool party, we move in August 1st.

I made $1000 dollars in commission alone last week at work. My company is growing, they are very supportive and everyday I work hard, but laugh while I'm doing it. My focus is on my kids, their home and our future. Oh and our dog is on a new flea medication called Comfortis, which is awesome and the vet said she was beautiful and very healthy, so she made me proud as well!

Oh, and tomorrow will be the 3 year anniversary of us moving to Florida. We drove our 24' moving truck down here with all that we owned and headed to a place we had never been before. 3 years later, we have close friends that we consider family, we know our way around and we get to enjoy the beautiful Florida beaches whenever we feel like it. It's almost hard to believe this is home now, but it is :-)

Thanks for the opportunity to brag, I am truly proud of my family and what life has in store for us!

Futureshock~ I didn't use to know what to say to clients when they used those excuses for not working. I don't really feel real comfortable being specific on the site as to what my job entails, but I think you get the drift from those examples. When they use the "I'm a single mom, I have no help from the father, and I don't want to put my kids in daycare" excuse, I now tell them to look around at my coworkers. And I point out the ones of us who are single moms and do the darn thing everyday to provide for our kiddos. So, then they usually come up with some other excuse not to comply. It's daunting, and I've learned to take my personal life out of the equation because it can (and has) turned into heated discussions with clients. My job is stressssssssssfulllllll. I've joked that I'm going to quit my job, get $600 in foodstamps, paid housing, paid utilities, and $350 cash assistance every month. Because, let me tell you some of the people I see everyday come in dressed to the nines with manicured nails and their hair done, and I think "Wow, they sure know how to work the system". I was enrolled in this program for eight months when I had my first son and finished my first certification at school, but worked my way off of it. Some people use this program for the same purpose. Others not so much. I must say, I've read some of your posts on here and wish I had the balls you have when you say things. I've thought to myself, "I'd like to have her sitting at the desk next to me and see how she'd put these clients in their places!" LOL

Marianne~ Thank you so much. My kids are the only thing I have to brag on right now. LOVE THEM! The Wheels on the Bus is a new one we sing lately. My six year old knows it well, as we sang it when he was toddler/preschool age, but my seventeen month old is super animated. He dances around and does all the motions. Oh my, me and Jakob get a kick out of it. And Jeriah loves to sing it loud and proud! Such performers my lil guys are! LOL

I dont have much to brag other than my two wonderful beautiful girls.

The vehicle I have is paid off but was giving to me by my mother. I work part time and go to school full. I have roughly 2 more yrs left. I struggle in college big time, still not in the education program but keep at it. I know one day I will have my own house and a newer car but right now I am working on things now

well with my income tax return I was able to pay off my car loan $1500.00 from the bank 9 months in advance plus pay off my visa debt of $900.00 and then from there was able to get $300.00 worth of baby formula for my son

taught my son in 2 days to climb up on furniture and clap his hands, as well to clap them to if your happy and you know it as well as patti cake and I ask him where an object is he points to it. Two days after I taught him how to blow kisses and make ahahah noises with the motion of the hand like an indian. Mommy is so proud of her little guy

yes I agree not all of us are there with our hands out or only go after men who make a huge income!

Okay, well, I am getting government assistance at the moment, but I start my new job this weekend!!!!!!!! My little girl is beautiful, well-adjusted, and smart as a whistle, and I finally got a lawyer and am getting my ex completely out the picture this month. Oh, and I also started talking to colleges to work on getting back in within the year. So, in less than 2 years after I start, I'll have my bachelor's in accounting. Then I'll do what work I can with that while I work on my master's to take the CPA certification exam.

I just got a new job, I am the only person working full time at the place and the job pays about double what I was originally told it would. And I like it!

For awhile things were pretty crappy, and I managed to support myself and my 2 boys on a ridiculously low amount a month...without any help.

I went, picked out, and bought a new (to me) car, all by myself. This is the first time I have ever done that!

Prospects for a second job are looking very good too!

On top of this Im a full time student, fishing up my bachelors in Business Management and Communications :o)
Everyone told me when I got pregnant at 20 that I wouldnt be able to do it. Thanks to YOU folks for the determination. Its what keeps me going

I've been paying alimony and child support, voluntarily, since the separation from my son's mother on 1994.
I still do. Regarding my ex, because my word is my bond; regarding my son -being an adult- because still needs the extra help.

See!!! We aren't all bad ex and deadbeat dad.

Well, I've managed to keep my sanity while raising 5 wonderful active kids, two of which are disabled (my youngest has Down syndrome and my second youngest has Broad spectrum autism disorder, PDD and verbal dyspraxia) , and two of which have ADHD. I own my own house, My van should be paid off by July of next year. I purchased and had installed a decent sized above ground pool complete with alarm system this year, I'm looking into central air, and hopefully by the end of the day I will have a second bloodhound to add to the family. I've got my horse, who bless her heart, has been a good friend through everything and has proved herself as a good kids horse. And I have done this all with a smile as I battle serious health complications of my own (which I have managed to keep hidden from the kids thus far so they don't get worried). And I'd like to add, my kids did well in school this last school year, and everyone who meets my kids love them. They are well behaved and respectful. My ex andI have been very effective with the wole co parenting thing which is an added bonus for the kids. Parents that work together to raise their kids (whether married or divorced) teach their kids valuable life lessons, and reduce friction and stress on the kids.

I've been able to put online about 90% of my business, and now I can work from anywhere in the world. My son and I loved Spain, so we're relocating to Sevilla in about 3 months. At that time, my business will be almost 100% online. Oh, yes: My kid is almost bilingual now, so school won't be a problem. We're also arriving at the beginning of the school year.

A new world for us to explore together.

So I raised my 2 kids as a single parent since they were 11 and 8 - they are now 27 and 24. I had no support from the ex - and the kids never had contact with him either .... I did not (nor do I now) have a university degree - but I do have some postsecondary diploma in office studies. Fact of it is - I was the low man on the totem pole at work, wages were OK - but not enuf to save much.... Kids had music lessons, played soccer, was in Scouts and Guides, ..... So fast forward ... son is a pilot with a national airline, daughter works with an investing company .... I have a great job because I worked hard and worked my way up, I own my own condo, drive a very nice car, finally have some savings.... looking forward to retirement in 8 years .... and I did it on my own....

So to luvs2beme and anyone else out there ..... Keep it up ... there are bad days.... and there are good days .... know that you aren't perfect, but that you are doing your best.... spend time with your kids cause that is the most precious thing you can give your kids .... and remember how you raise your kids, will impact on how they raise their kids when the time comes...and most of all luv yourself!!!!! ..... because you can't love someone else if you don't.
