I don't think I could make a bet about astrology, but it is interesting how it does work out that we are more compatible with some signs than others.

My two very serious relationships were both with Scorpios. I had a 3 year relationship with an Aries, but honestly, I dont know why were together for that long because I never really felt a really big connection with him, compared to how I did with the Scorpios. I read the astrology guides and learned I was very attracted to Scorpios, Taurus', Cancers and other Pisces. And what do you know, the few guys that I have dated ended up being Pisces, Cancer and Taurus. I purposely dont let myself date Scorpios because my last relationships with Scorpios were very bitter sweet and ended badly and I dont want to get hurt like that again (and I am sure the non-astrology believers here will think that is LAME, lol).

So, OP, it can be entertaining, but I am not sure we will ever have PROOF that there is something more to it than mystery and wonder.

I find this thread amusing...

Go have a look at this link...

It uses the constellation is the sky to attempt to "prove" that Jesus never existed.

The constellations are there... Always have been since the beginning of time. It is only logical that man would have been influenced by the movements in the sky and trying to seek guidance... There are limits though.

Anyway... Have a look... It is interesting.

From my experience ....of my friends and those I have dated.

Aries are fun to be with get along well with them.

Libras are fun but they love to spend money if not theirs yours! I dated one for four years and it cost me more than he was worth lol They love love love to flirt with others... but faithful in the end. Fun people.

Scorpio’s I find they masters of the mind. I get along with them but would never marry another one lol Fun but easily hurt. They say Leo and Scorpions are the worse two signs together.. I married one for 20 years he was a sweetie so I have no complaints. lol

Leo’s . Alpha male and alpha female... fight to see who boss in bed and in the relationship but oh they are fun! Everything is wild! Lots of cat fights but they love to make up.

Cancers kind of wear their emotions on their sleeves, really nice ppl but to me not good for a relationship make great friends. Still waters run deep is what i noticed with this sign.

Aquarius.. I have dated and know so many. Attracted to me big time but they keep you on your toes they are fun, fun, fun and unpredictable in most ways lol keeps you wondering what will be next. Then all tend to settle down late in life so I never expect much of a long term with any of them.

Taurus. This is one sign I’m not fussy for. I get along ok with them but I find them to be loud and like to take over very headstrong. Did I mention they are very headstrong? Lol I shy away from dating this type but there is always one that makes shines through all the rest.

Sagittarius. Just starting to get to know this sign. They are fun and playful but I find I can never read them totally. They have a wonderful way of leaving even the best psychologist in the dark lol.

Capricorns ...well the one I know is family and she drives me nuts so I can’t comment on this sign lol I keep my distance.

Gemini and Virgo I don’t know any so I can’t comment on them.

Every person and every sign has something good to offer...

By the way I just gotta throw this in...
A car insurance did a survey on which signs made the best drivers and which were the worse.
Leo’s were number one
Taurus were the worse!

But all the signs have one thing in common... They ALL say they are the best in bed!

I find it rather sad to see even the smallest belief in astrology by people who would think of themselves as educated.

+1

Well, astrology is a lot like sociology.

No, it is not. Sociology is scientific. It's based on empirical evidence. Astrology is based on conjecture.

By the way I just gotta throw this in...
A car insurance did a survey on which signs made the best drivers and which were the worse.
Leo’s were number one
Taurus were the worse lol

That's simply charting random coincidence. That's not correlation.

You could also "chart" the winning(est) lottery numbers on a spreadsheet, but it will not be correlative with which numbers will be drawn next.

I am a believer! However, as others have pointed out, you need to know your rising sign and moon sign in addition to your sun sign to have a real understanding of it.

I have a basic 'working' knowledge of it and it tends to be more accurate than I'd like to acknowledge. I'd love to be able to discount it, but, from my experience, there is something to it.

I'm an early Aries, Aquarius is my rising sun and Cancer is my moon.

I get along best with other fire signs and air signs. Water signs can work depending on the mix. I do not generally get along with earth signs well at all.

Aries: I get along great with early Aries. I don't get along with late Aries.

Taurus: Non-starter. Huge incompatibility issue with almost every male Taurus I've ever met in both a personal and business context. Some of the few people I deeply dislike have been Taurus. I tend to get along with female Taurus. I don't know why.

Gemini: Some of my best friends are Gemini but don't know that I'd want to date one.

Cancer: Complicated. I have many cancer friends but it's a real push-pull type relationship. I understand them but there are aspects of true cancers that don't work with me.

Leo: Can work very well. Egos have to be sorted out between a Leo and an Aries.

Virgo: Non-starter.

Libra: Libra's are fun to go out dining, drinking and dancing with but I wouldn't be looking for one for a relationship.

Scorpio: Hellooooooo!!!! Give me a Scorpio/Sag cusp and I'm in heaven.

Sag: Sign me UP! Never met one I didn't like.

Capricorn: Non-starter

Aquarius: Like them alot. But I find the men to take a long time to settle down. A bit Peter-Pan ish. Can enjoy being "unique" just for the sake of being "unique". Can be very creative thinkers.

Pisces: I live my life surrounded by Pisces and don't want to add more to the mix. Before I understood astrology, I married one. Huge massive mistake. It takes alot of biting my tongue to cope with Pisces. I think Pisces generally can find Aries to be too much.

Miska, try a scorpio. Other factors matter, but it's a pretty good combo from what I understand.

2012 cometh

Honestly, I do believe in Astrology, ESP, re-incarnation, prophets & psychics. Yet, I also believe in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, & Math. The greatest achievement of the natural sciences, as any of the top 10 of each field will tell you, is the uncertainty principle. There are at an infinitesimal level very, very fast particles on whom the natural forces governed by Physics are constantly acting. At this very small level you can see what might be called near perfect randomness being enacted by trillions of these particles and waves.

Our best scientists use really good guesses based on the highest mathematics being programmed into the most powerful supercomputers. In the end they try to predict an outcome to a perfectly random set of situations based on observing and using hundreds, if not thousands of equations, each of which applies to only a small part of the scenario being observed.

This, my friends, is not too dissimilar to astrology and its roots. The obvious differences are that one is light speed and miniature, the other is far slower yet gigantic. Free will itself might be the ancients' uncertainty to which they applied their principles.

So yes, do not dismiss astrology so quickly. What do you have to lose?

I have tested all of the zodiacs, and have found my favorites to be Taurus, Scorpio, and Gemini. Virgos are fun, too. Truth be known, I really do not care about astrology. I make my own predictions.

Virgos are compatible, they just don't fall in love like others - they are too cold and calculating. However, Capricorns and Tauruses will understand and appreciate you. if your age is right on your profile and you were born in year of Dog, you are better off with someone of your triangle - Tigers, Dogs or Horses. Look for the difference in age 4, 8 or 12 years.

Your Virgo side is practical, business like, and your Dog side is more adventurous, you are a very good friend, help and give....so look for someone like that, too.

Let's say, Taurus born in year of Horse

Google it ...

Here's where we'd end up.... I'm game.. You don't look bad.. A little evil. But evil can be good..
I don't like your pass fail deal thingy... You're eliminating a lot of fun people..

Mutable Earth and Mutable Fire
When Sagittarius flashes that winning smile, something might not add up for Virgo. The steady-natured Virgo grows uneasy around the unpredictable Sadge. Virgo stays cautious, and while dating can fall into the trap of being the 'naysayer,' the one that curbs the Archer's enthusiasm. Virgo wants to suss it out before leaping, and Sadge might find this a drag.

Virgo likes to dig into conversation and become entrenched in details. Sagittarius casts a wider and looser net, and has an aversion for the mundane. Both thrive when ideas can be put into real experience. Virgo has the skills and handle on the steps, and Sadge covers the big picture. At its best, it's a partnership in which both are inspired, and feel appreciated, if not always 100% understood. Virgo helps Sadge bring goals down to earth. Sadge shows Virgo that following an inner call often pays off, and that fulfillment is worth taking risks for.

Virgo likes to create order in the day, while Sagittarius prefers to follow the inspirations from moment to moment. Trouble ensues when Sadge starts to plan travel on the fly, since Virgo needs adventures to be thought out in advance. A Sagittarius in love will want to reassure Virgo of their devotion, and try to allay their insecurities. This pairing brings up the age-old conflict of freedom vs. stability, and a workable balance is needed here. If a commitment is there, differences can be worked out over time.

Famous Couples: Sophia Loren (Virgo) and Carlo Ponti (Sagittarius); Aristotle Onassis (Virgo) and Maria Callas (Sagittarius); Annie Lennox (Sagittarius) and Dave Stewart (Virgo); Beyonce (Virgo) and Jay Z (Sagittarius)

My business gives me personal information on all my clients, including a handwriting sample.. I look up their sign when I 'm interested and they often fall into the mold. Leo's love attention. Capricorns are good companions but they will keep secreets. Tarus is a good match for me, at least in bed. Sag's like me love independence.. If you know one thing about sag's THAT is the important thing. Don't let us feel caged up and we'll be happy..We need our me time..

Handwriting analysis is very telling as well.. I know just enough about it to be dangerous... Here's a hint for the guys on the handwriting thing. If she's got letters like g that drop way below the line that means she wants a BIG ..ahem...package and her mind is on things that ..hang low, low...Works every time..If she puts a dot or mark on the inside of her O's she a liar and often hiding something... Alot of handwriting analysis is common sense...

I just got into astrology and it basically freaked me out and how many things were accurate. I'm not talking personality quirks either I'm talking major life occurences and family life, things like that. As a rule, people that disqualify it have never looked at it or had their chart read. If you actually understand how complex it is and learn about all of the planets and signs, it will blow your mind. It is NOT a belief system, it's a set of mathematical, astronomical calculations and the art of looking for patterns. It's no more untrue than finding some truth in a fine piece of literature. It is a set of metaphors that reveal a great deal about our individuality. Astrologers came to their conclusions from studying histories, as in the patterns were followed based on how common they actually were in human life, they didn't make them up and then start dictating that people should follow their interpretations.

I always felt like I was more of a Gemini when I read the silly simplified sun sign romantic things they publish in magazines. I thought it was all crap, because I'm a Cancer, but my love life never looked like what they said it was supposed to be. Then I finally looked at my full birth chart and saw that my Venus is in Gemini, which is another explanation for why I seem to have a bizarrely high number of Gemini friends.

Another thing, is you'll notice people often look similar, not just act similar, to others of their signs. Also, what's so unbelievable about the cyclic distribution of human characteristics? Many diseases are more prevalent with babies born in summer months based on what was going on during their gestation. Our whole lives are dominated by the earth, moon and sun cycles, why should it be so crazy to think all the other planets also have an effect on our measly tiny human lives?

You are a kind and giving participant yourself , sunnybunny60, thank you for demonstating 'a helping hand ' to another searching fish here.
Being a Virgo myself, (and we have our drawbacks, but overall Virgo's ROCK!) I can say I married a Libra and we were a good match for a good period of time, and then great friends after the divorce.

I enjoyed the series on PBS, The Power od Myth, narrated by Bill Moyer. It includes astrology in its discussion on the evolution of spiritual ,religious and superstitious thoughtlife, worldwide. Quite convincing dialogues and evidence that we are not all 'stupid' at all.

Enjoyed the query, thanks OP!

I think what scares me the most about all these postings is that you all are adults and really should know better than to believe in Astrology... I mean what's next? Shamanism?
Spirit animals...?
Astrology has no scientific validation... and like most crackpot superstitions, so open to interpretation that anything could be made to look like it works...

I'm an Aries and have had the best relationships with two Leo's and one Cancer. Sags are certainly Kings of Mixed Messages. One Sag confessed that he liked keeping women guessing. How fun.

He was really a lot of fun but had too many things that were not a result of his sign, but rather organized religion. And I never got that ride on the Harley.......

Eventhough I'm a fire sign and Cancer is water, my rising sign is Cancer. Guess that makes me sort of a watered-down Aries, since I get along pretty well with other water signs, except Pisces. Libra's work well, since we're opposite signs and balance one another nicely (except for one sister).

I liked the poster who advised those on here who don't care for astrology to not get their panties in a bunch over the ones of us who do. What do you care, anyway? Adhere to what works for you and kindly don't scoff at anyone else's choices.

Astrology to me is like any other ideology. It has some truth but also a lot of crap, err I mean faith based beliefs.

The zodiac cross is simply the tale of our sun and earth. If you were to put a gigantic stick through the poles of the earth that stick would point to different zodiac constellations at different times in history and the future. It takes approximately 26,000 years for this stick to proceed through all of the constellations. The rest of the cross symbolizes the equinoxes, the solstice, the seasons and the movement of the sun throughout the year.

So the truth is that the cross of the zodiac is a calendar. A calendar that allows you to predict the positions of the star formations (constellations=zodiac signs), the sun and the earth. Ancient people were very aware that our sun (the big bright yellow thing in the sky, not Jesus or any other deity) is what is responsible for all life on earth. Since these ancient people like to personify everything into elaborate stories and myths the sun became known as the god sun, God being the giver of all life on the planet, which is the sun (big yellow thing). They also personified the constellations into mythological creatures and gods. Since people have thought that after life and in death we ascend into the heavens to join the gods; and since they could predict the positions of the “gods” using the cross of the zodiac, than the zodiac cross must be able to predict the lives of human beings. And that’s where all the crap, err… I mean faith based beliefs (Astrology) comes from. It’s no different than believing in Christianity or thousands of other religions that are based on the same cosmic ballet. Actually Chrisitanity is based on the zodiac, now I’m not sure if the zodiac is based on the Egyptian god Horus or the other way around, or maybe developed independently of each other. The life of Horus is documented on the walls of pyramids in Egypt that date back at least 3000 years before Christ. However they share over 100 parallels with Christ. Want to open your eyes? Than google the Egyptian sun god Horus or the movie Zeitgeist.

How does this sound to you?

I learned a long time ago it's not wise to get involved with anyone I'm not astrologically compatible with.

Hmm... Guess everything is fine as long as she stays with her compatible signs. Wonder what she is doing on Plenty of Fish?

A good astrologer will tell you they need the precise date, time, and place of your birth. Otherwise, it's impossible for them to give you an accurate astrological life-chart or forecast. That's why the astrological forecasts in newspapers are crap.

Sounds like this women really knows what she is talking about.

Wait a second. When astrology was invented a couple of thousand years ago, people had absolutely know way to precisely plot any location on planet earth. Longitude and latitude hadn't been invented yet. Clocks hadn't been invented yet either. So people didn't think in terms of hours, minutes, and seconds.

My astrologer told me I'll get along best with cancers and bulls but should avoid crabs... I've found this to be so true that it's scary.

Can't argue with first-hand personal experience.

My last two husbands were cancers....

What!? How many husbands has this woman had?

From one of her posts to a different thread,

Within one month of marrying him, I knew he (last husband) wasn't the one...

Good thing he is a COMPATIBLE cancer; otherwise, it might not have worked out. I forgot. They had a bitter divorce, hates his guts, and has difficulty not spitting whenever she says his name.

Mishka: Taurus is supposed to be a perfect match for Virgo. After that, Capricorn and, I believe, Cancer.

Another Virgo can also be a good match, if you both can resist the urge to pick each other apart. We can tend to be perfectionistic and critical; good at fault-finding and figuring out how someone/something could be better.

BTW, it's Pisces that isn't compatible with anyone else but other Pisces!
