| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/6/2009 5:54:20 AM | Louisespencer,
Yes, weight loss is a real hard hard work. we are just doing this for 24 hours, but following Atkins diet as a regular way to adjust my food intake. Exercising is my problem.....Im not too fond of it. I will probably do it in Lima as weather is cool and my mom lives in a nice neighborhood that has lots of shops and stores nearby....so maybe that will motivate me. I live in totally residential area so not much fun to walk by houses only.
Thank you for advice. I truly appreciate it and please wish us luck, its just a motivational 24 hrs detox diet, hoping if we lose some extra lbs that day and keep going with regular sensible diet.

| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/6/2009 8:26:36 AM | Full moon and dark moon detoxes are quite common with us witches. Ill join you.
Its also a time to meditate. On full moons its time of reflection, look back since the last dark/new moon, celebrate your achievements, learn from your mistakes, focus on what you could do with less of in your life at this time. For example you may wish to loose weight, negative thoughts or influences that may be affecting your life. Imagine as the moon shrinks in size over the days, your troubles will shrink with it.
On dark/new moons its time to look forward, fresh starts, new beginnings (bit like a new year all over again). Again a great time to detox, prepare for newness, visualise what you want more of in your life and as the moon grows, focus on your needs becoming more realisitc.
Witch or not, its a good exercise to do every now and then.
May i just add that a detox diet can be one of raw vegan foods as well as juices and water. The idea is to keep it as natural as possible, all natural foods, organic if possible and raw. It is good to do this every now and then, healthy for the mind, body and soul so why not incorporate it with the lunar patterns, also do it with a group of other people so you can come together at the end and compare experiences.
Try a bit of light yoga and breathing exericses or maybe a walk outdoors among trees and if possible near water to experience the tidal connection too.

| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/6/2009 2:27:42 PM | The weather got hot and I stopped cooking so I've been off my diet that was doing so well and my weight loss is tiny each week but at least it continues. I'd like a little boost but the sugar high this diet would bring on might make me delusional. I'm also PMSsing with bloat so a little water weight loss won't hurt.
I love the full moon and double digits (4:22am) and this may be my last middle of the night moon in a while since I'm back on day shift as of tomorrow. waaaaahhhh!
So count me in, Ladies just in my own way. I'll go all liquid, yogurt, my Yogi fasting tea (check it out, the herbs help with carb digestion and hunger), some homemade brown rice horchata and my special hot herb apple cider vinegar. I found that I can drink apple juice without too much of a sugar high if I put a lot of cinnamon in it.
Now I gotta find where that scale is, because I've been guaging my achievement through clothing sizes alone for the last couple months.

| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/6/2009 3:12:01 PM | 7Rainbows, Welcome in the challenge...and thanks for all the additional info. I will make a point to walk tomorrow at least 20 minutes... Hopefully we have good news to report Wednesday morning!!! ======== Funcuz... You are just saying kind of a truth...I stated has not been medically endorsed. You are no party pooper...I refer to people using comments like pointless, dumb, etc. All kind comments and advice is most welcome. We are just trying to join efforts and get a boodt to our sensible diets....for 24 hrs. =========== hereshecomesagain, Great..that you join us as well, group is getting bigger. ...its better if you drink natural fruit juices, so you could cook some apples and then blend them with just little sweet or Splenda...also even chicken broth, protein shakes, liquid yogurts. I bought lots of strawberries, bananas and blueberries, yogurt and milk....if I need sweeter, I will use Splenda. I will also drink lots of lemonade with Splenda.... | |

Ummmmmm you do realize that Splenda is not natural?
It amazes me that so many are willing to embrace something so inane, pointless and useless and yet won't embrace proper nutrition and exercise habits.

It amazes me that so many are willing to embrace something so inane, pointless and useless and yet won't embrace proper nutrition and exercise habits.
Did someone mention NOT exercising or eating properly?....
Let me re-cap: this is a 24hr Fast, not an on going FAD diet. It's being done in correlation with the full moon. It was presented to us as a bonding experience. One I am happy to embrace with the OP and any other willing participant.
The history of fasting goes back thousands of years. Many religions, including Christianity, Judaism, and Eastern religions used and still use fasting as a healing process for spiritual purification and communion with God. Philosophers, scientists, and physicians have used it as a healing process to cure sicknesses. Fasting effects not only our physical being, but our mental, emotional, and spiritual self as well. Physicians with a spiritual orientation are more likely to prescribe fasting to their patients because they are also more likely than other doctors to use the fasting method for cleansing.
The rationale behind fasting places an emphasis on control over our habits. When we need to recharge, we take a break from life and go on vacation. When our body needs cleansing, fasting is time away from food. Both methods of withdrawal from normal routine help us get back in touch with what our bodies need.

And there you have it. I couldn't have said it better myself but felt it needed to be repeated.
I lost 3/4 pounds, but that's okay. I didn't expect to lose much, if any, so I'm not unhappy with the results. I just wanted to celebrate life and bond with fellow fishies.
Look forward to seeing everyone around the boards and for the next moon phase!

| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/8/2009 3:07:19 PM | Sorry for the delayed report. Lost 1/2 a kg. The real benefit was the way I feel, and doing something with my fellow posters other than "pushing points".
Look forward to seeing everyone around the boards and for the next moon phase!
Junkartnamesigns: Thanks for your support and thinking "outside" the box.
Your all in my thoughts, and for those continuing to get their weight under control, sending my support!

| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/10/2009 4:30:45 AM | Hello Fishies, I wasn't able to report due to posting LIMITATION, but JUKARTNAMESIGNS did me the great favor of reporting on my behalf. Thank you.
My loss was 4 lbs. , but I have lots to lose. I also was on Atkins diet 4 days before the full moon. As of today I have lost 12 lbs....I am looking forward to another 25 at least.
I will be In Peru ( S.America) for the next 6 weeks visiting Mom with my youngest daughter. I am pretty sure they will help me a lot with my low carb diet.
I will post here for the next full moon in August. But heads up
Full Moon August
Pacific 5:56 pm Mountain 6:56 pm Central 7:56 pm Eastern 8:56 pm
And yes, to all the skeptical ...fasting is a way of life, both for physical and spiritual health. And if any it is also part of offering our Lord a sacrifice when we ask Him for some special need of ours.
Have you all a wonderful weekend!!!

| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/10/2009 7:43:28 AM | Iv been doing the paul mackenna weight loss thing, he asks that you not weigh yourself too often, so i didnt check my weight before the fullmoon, but know it was somewhere in the region of stone and 13lbs it is now stone exactly.
Not saying iv lost that much in one day, but this has been over about 2 weeks of healthy eating and iv started exercising regularly again. Full moon is always a good point to do some reflective work on yourself though. I did a lovely morning meditation followed by some chakra cleansing work. On the evening even though i couldnt see the moon (was way too cloudy here in the UK) i went outside with my glass of wine, held it up towards where the moon would be and greatly recieved her blessings and motivation to carry on with my healthy eating and exercising.
Isnt it sad how many need to add stupid comments here and take the p!ss out of others wanting to do something positive and share it. I often wonder why i bother coming to this place.

| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/11/2009 7:50:21 PM | I am 2 pounds lighter. Since this is my beached whale week and I'm usually a whopping consistent miserable 11 pounds heavier, then whether or not this was just water loss, that 2 pound difference made me significantly more comfortable.
I used to do a fast every full moon. Some girl friends and I went out on the Friday or Saturday nearest the full moon and had our "howl" which of course lasted less than three months for some and less than a year for most before the men began having tantrums about it. None of us ever went out on any other date, but wow once a month was too much. Lead to a lot of relationships ending which means that we all rid ourselves of an average of 200 pounds of insecure meat head monkeys off our backs thanks to the full moon....LOL
My hunny is supportive and the ladiesnight here is Thursday and I slept my full moon howl off being just plain tired from changing shifts.
Those who want to enter a pizzing contest with us phatlunarians are best ignored. My cycle fits with the moon and I've been in love with it, especially when full and red, since I was a baby. I need no logic or reason to explain. Fasting to the moon and howling for the fun of it and camping under it are all parts of it, and I happen to rebalance my body a little in the process more power to me. If it gets somebody's panties in a knot that we feel compelled to do this, it's prolly cuz they are part of the misery loves company crowd. All we have to do is ignore ignore ignore.
|
| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/15/2009 7:46:48 AM | So what's the status ladies? I dug out my scale and found two more pounds obliterated. Now must keep them far away from me.
After the fast I didn't get much exercise because work has been both tiring and sedentary so I started doing some extra morning exercises.
I started what I call stripper sit ups. That's where you reach behind you and you lift your feet straight to the ceiling lifting your hips too until you are resting on your shoulderblades only.I worked up to 25 a day. It's a great back strengthener and I need that right now. I went to qualify for shooting and my scores dropped some because I got tired, my arms a little, but my back was the weakest. So that's my new exercise, I do nearly every exercise in bed before I get up. It's important, I think for the women to shoot better than the men and I noticed that while I did much better in the beginning, I began to have trouble when I got tired, and the men stayed consistent simply because they are stronger. Can't let that happen again! LOL

| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 7/26/2009 12:22:29 AM | Hello fishies, I hope I can post due to limitations fo last 10 postings. Im in Peru for the last 2 weeks. Hard to stay on healthy eating habits with all the amazing Perucian food. I can report I continued with my low carb diet....I guess I can say Im able to keep it up at 80 percent at least. Happy to report I lost close to 20 lbs. I feel happy and looking forward to our next full moon fasting. I feel the people that dont ,like our little self motivating exercise can B(((TCH all they want. I chose to ignore them althought I cant believe why they need to spill their negativeness....OH WELL

| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 8/6/2009 5:14:41 PM | You should forget about 'the full moon diet' or any other diet for that matter
It's really simple - just stop shoving food & drink down your throat (except water) ----
always amazes me how some people **** about being overweight and they continually saying how hard it is to loose the weight whilst shoving a cake and skim milk coffee or diet softdrink down their throat (cos they on a diet) and they can't have full cream milk or a regular soft drink - please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
| FULL MOON DIET...... July 2009 Posted: 8/8/2009 2:09:48 PM | Missfee, I, for one, haven't had a slice of cake for years with the singular exception of the bite of wedding cake my new husband put in my mouth. I do like my coffee with milk but it's rare that I drink it, and I don't drink softdrinks, diet or otherwise unless there is absolutely nothing else available and I'm actually thirsty. Please feel free to assume all manner of better than us opinions.
If you had read the thread, you'd see that this diet isn't about weight loss as much as about connections. If you haven't read the thread, I wonder why you have so much hostility toward people who aren't hurting you that you feel motivated to sling insults at us even though you are speaking in ignorance as to our motivations? No one here has embraced any ideal of relying upon fad diets so that we can continue to shove food in.
Really, it never ceases to amaze me how juvenile and bratty some people think they have a right to be at the first opportunity. If weight loss came easy to you, is it because you gained weight in the first place? Or haveyou never been fat enough to know what it's like? Have you struggled with a hormone imbalance or life stressors that caught you by surprise or emotional needs that your childhood self was taught to resolve through food? People gain weight for a variety of reasons. Some are lucky enough to reolve these quickly. Some, it's stress. It's been proven that stress markedly throws off metabolism so that even a low calorie diet can cause weight gain. Some, it's imbalance. Low thyroid or other gland struggling, often before or after pregnancy. Some just change their lives and don't catch their weight gain in time. Some have to unlearn a lot of bad habits and bad thoughts. Some have to raise a self esteem and some have a wicked combination. A 24 hour group event that perks up self esteem and relieves bloat hurts you how?
Were I not a lifetime careful moderator of my diet and exercise, I would be on my deathbed.
Keep in mind that bitter hostility kills faster than obesity.

This is the calendar website where you can check exact hours for your location. Diets consists of all fluids, water, fruit and or vegetable juices for 24 hours. You can loose up to 6 lbs in 24 hours. Of course this is only a jump start and we need to keep a sensible diet there after to keep it off. You will be losing mostly fluids.
Sounds like it is all about weight loss to me.
