How important is money?

Money is important but if I fell on hard times I would expect my partner to muck-in until things were back on an even keel. Money does not make a relationship, but sadly there are those out there who like to be 'kept', these are the people I will avoid at all costs. (pardon the pun).

Aside from absolute essentials, (like health care, food, etc.) some items need to have quality. Like furniture for example. You can waste money on a cheap couch that'll hurt your back and you will have to replace it when it falls apart in a few years, or you can invest in a more expensive, quality couch that'll be comfortable and last the rest of your life. That being said, if someone has just moved out of their parent's house, more expensive may not be an option. It's just one of those things you learn as you get older.

Money is a means to an end.
As I once heard from someone Work to live dont live to work.
I think this is something a lot gain from their families or as they grow older.
After a while one comes to realize that money cannot buy happiness.

It's a dealbreaker. Same financial footing or close. Separate finances and a cohabitation or prenuptial agreement.

As long as the person is able to support themselves, who cares?

Depends on the individual. For some it's a deal breaker.
For others, it's not. If you want someone to take you out
to nice places, for example, you'll have little interest in
dating poor people.

Real money like gold and silver is awesome. It is the physical representation of goods entering the market.

Fake money like our federal reserve notes are toxic, worthless, and have occult symbols on them.

I think real money is very important. We need it to facilitate trade. Is it important to me how much my woman makes? No, that's my job.

my favorite money quote...by Jonathon Swift...

"A wise man should have money in his head, but not in his heart." -

I don't get into the financial business of my partners and they don't get into mine. I own my own home and take care of my own stuff. I actually never even knew how much my last boyfriend (of 5 years) made..and he didn't know what I make. We probably both had rough estimates..but really , what does it matter. I wouldn't bail anybody out though..not to be mean ...nor would I allow anybody to bail me out. That's just me.

I've faced more than a few problems in my life that no amount of money in the world could help, fix, or change. That's when one gains perspective.

Money really is nothing for me (and I've been both dirt poor and moderately wealthy..and everywhere in between) . I used it to provide a good home and opportunities for my daughter. I use it to enjoy travel and play. I use it to help others. It's a means to end ; no more , no less.
