is it just me or is this thread hilarious???

I'm in tears reading it!

I can't believe we've got another one of those years looming 2012, for crying out loud when some prediction is actually correct nobody is going to believe it, it's going to be like the boy who cried "wolf" or... "Iguana"

"passing through the galactic plane is something which happens every 30,000 years or so. There are all sorts of ridiculous ideas advanced about this, alignments etc. The thing is, all we are really doing is passing a theoretical point, a line drawn on a chart. in real terms it would mean nothing, space being so volumous that we have been heading into this more dense region for thousands of years.
There is no 'critical point' where everything is aligned. We spend around 10,000 years of every 30,000 in this 'denser' region.

Think of it like midsummer night. That's all it is. no special properties, it's just the point at which the tilt of the earth to the sun goes from negative to zero, and starts moving back again. "

Look at the ice core data...Periodic climate changes...There are many factors which we don't really understand, there is records from our past, unfortunately, like this thread, scientists also poo poo them...To our peril...

edit: Instead of spamming, could we please keep to the topic, or are you lot brainless?

No, which YOU don't understand.

I don't claim an in depth knowledge, but I definitely DO understand many of the mechanisms of climate change, be it man made, related to orbit, related to inclination, related to sun power output or related to the very beginnings of carbon dioxide emitting life forms which started it all.

Scientists do not 'poo poo ice core records. It's scientists out there TAKING the samples!

By 'scientists' I do not mean individuals, I mean the body of.

Scientists can be as fruitloop as anyone else individually.

"Team" Hansen (Schmidt, Mann, et al) poo-poo anything that doesn't agree with their hypothesis. They are Activist Scientists. Hansen has been arrested twice for his activities in demonstrations against "climate change" (which to my ears sounds like demonstrating against, say, plate techtonics, or the sun rising in the morning).

Strange but true.

Theres quite an interesting video about the illuminati, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTcF-7opGLU
it is under' the history of satanism'..i'm not quite sure why?
Maybe it would explain some of the theories on it..and whether it is believable or not is another..but it is a bit of food for thought! But then there are probably a lot of things that are unexplainable or incomprehendable so we just poo poo them! I myself have been guilty of that but I now have a bit more of an open mind about some things. (not saying that I totally believe in the illuminati but if you dig deeper it is quite interesting.)

Oooohhhh...Mr prickly...

So do I...And it's not COMPLETELY proven climate change (notice it's changed from "global warming" to "climate change" now that the earth is coolng) is caused by human activity, infact, it's beginning to lok quite diferent...

Which is off topic, perhaps we can get back on then?

I never claimed it was 100% understood. I did not try to indicate though as you did that it was less understood and more of a mystery than it is. If you want to stay on topic, feel free..........since there is no parallel to the areas relating to climate that we do not understand and the topic about the world ending in 2012 because of a complete myth.

I might be getting cults mixed up here, but i think the head of the Illuminati is (supposedly) referred to as Lucifer.

Ok first of all this thread seems to have forgotten little things like Darwinism and the fossil record which seems to satisfy most within the scientific community regarding the evolution of homosapiens and the other life forms on the planet..... mind you these scientists aren't going around waving crystals over people, burning incense and communicating with ascended angels whilst getting in touch with their "chi" etc. so perhaps they are not yet in touch with their spiritual side (tongue firmly in cheek). ...Secondly the 2012 date being bandied about as the end of the world/major event scenario comes from (an interpretation of!) the mayan calendar which was apparently an extremely precise format, but seems to peter out about then... we're doomed, we're doomed ..

The OP said:
"He told me about this 'higher life form' called the anunake who the egyptians believed to be reptilian beings from another planet who came down and interbred with another race that was on earth at that time which made a (slave) race which is human kind??!!"

It was the Sumerians, not the Egyptians...They came to mine gold...

"It is believed that most of the human race is controlled by this illuminiti and the more higher in power the more they are slaved to this?"

They where supposed to be our gods (a completely diferent meaning to the word we have now)...The Illuminati "are" the servants of these beings (in the modern sense it is completely diferent)...

"Apparantly in 2012 they are suppose to send some more of these anunake higher life forms again to interbreed."

They did interbreed, but Anu didn't approve...

"Well I have known a few reptiles in my time but i'm not personally sure I buy all this?
The egyptians did however have some rather intriguing beliefs.."

First they are silly, but then they are intriguing?...

"What do you think of this illuminti theory? Or any other form of strange beliefs?..."

OK...They where supposed to have bred humans from lower life forms, chimps presumably (?)...Someone touched upon the fossil record, I would like to ask, why did we develope a brain part of which we don't really use? The fossil record is not really, really established in science, it is though, established in dogma...

Another thing one might consider, this is written in ancient writings like (one recent one) our Bible, laugh all you want, but Troy was laughed at until it was discovered...The world was flat at one time...

Think about it...

Saddle Tramp - think that the fossil record is more scientifically evidenced than biblical mythology (a lot of the bible was also mythology and borrowed paganism, written centuries after the death of Jesus, but hey if its written it must be right - just like the Daily Mail, then) :-) Erm intelligent creationism is a dogma... not sure about bones and dna being dogmatic tho'....

Why did we develop a brain part of which we don't really use - there are some unusual theories on this - try Anthony Peake if you're into alternative theories of our why our brains have developed as they have... its interesting stuff...

I don't really follow these theories but it is quite interesting to watch/read broaden your mind to all kinds of beliefs/discoveries whether you believe in it or not.
I'm not a religeous or scientific fanatic just maybe a little curious sometimes...just keeps your brain ticking over.

Which bit is that then?

there are some unusual theories on this - try Anthony Peake if you're into alternative theories of our why our brains have developed as they have... its interesting stuff...

Anthony Peake's hypotheses are indeed interesting. Scientifically sound? Not so much.

I was reading this thread earlier today, when, on the telly in the background, there was the bit in Friends where Phoebe challenges Ross on his devout belief in the theory of evolution. Phoebe points out that scientists at all stages of our history have believed utterly in theories that have later been destroyed, the earth is flat, the atom is the smallest particle ("...until 50 years ago they broke it open and this whole mess of crap came out").

An open mind is the only one that works properly, we need to remember that in the future our set of beliefs in science may be looked at with the same incredulity as the flat earth theory is today. We really, really don't know it all yet.

That said, the hypothesis given by the OP needs a hell of a lot more evidence behind it before it can even be considered a genuine, testable one.

I consider myself a scientist first and a believer in more mystical/spiritual things second. I don't find the two to be mutually exclusive though.

EDIT, and the Mayan calendar thingy, the best theory I've seen as to why it stops in 2012 is because you can go back to the beginning again then, pointless setting out the whole thing again. Nothing more earth shattering than avoiding a duplication of effort.

reading the replys to this the tears are running down my face lmao.

as preivously said we have a need to believe and to try and come up with reasons, theories to explain our place in the universe, that said this is one of the most far fetched ones ive heard. pick up a copy of derren browns book "trick or treat", he does a good job explaining how we can delude ourselves, their are many other good books that go into more depth explaining how we explain/rationalise/justify using our so called logical minds, but i have found Browns book to be very accessible and concise.

It's no nuttier than any of the other stories that are out there. Whether it's supported by the evidence is another question.

There doesn't need to be a bunch of egyptian lizards ruling the world. Us human beings can behave in exactly the same way without the need for monsters from beyond making us do it. It's a more emotionally satisfying story for it to be the uitgard being the source of woe, but it doesn't always work like that.

That said, the overall tone of his ideas are interesting. With appropriate embellishment and good presentation, he could turn it into a story that's too good to check.

In the meantime I'd like to subscribe to his newsletter. Does he use green ink?

Uit-gard, van-gard and in-gard were the three forms of social classification used by the germanic/celtic tribes for describing someone's relationship with the tribe. The ingard, being the women and children, the vangard being the defenders of the borders and the uitgard being those who were beyond the pale.

The story of Grendel is a classic example of that sort of structure. Though, McTiernan's "13th Warrior" gives a reasonably expressed visual example of this. But there are examples of the "Outsider" archetype scattered all through our collective unconciousness.

Moo - totally agree about Anthony Peake, am not actually a supporter although he writes interestingly and he uses contemporary scientific intelligence to formulate or back-up his theories, they don't quite ever really "tie" together - its just the point that there are a hell of a lot of "theories" out there ... :-). Also, am not a "scientific nut" in any sense of the word, and agree its best to keep an open mind....

"Saddle Tramp - think that the fossil record is more scientifically evidenced"
What evidence?

" (a lot of the bible was also mythology and borrowed paganism, written centuries after the death of Jesus, "
What mythology, what borrowed paganism and how many centuries "after" Jesus was born?

"but hey if its written it must be right - just like the Daily Mail, then) :-) "
