I liked great uncle bulgaria but not enough to join a fan club and was only just old enough to be born in the 70's.

I loved my cream Kharman Ghia baggies and my wooden platform clogs, they didn't make me tall just AS tall as the girls who didn't have them What a disappointment when I took them off and reverted to being vertically challenged, fekk they made my legs look long though

I loved the 70's, well once I'd left school I did and started on my misspent youth (or do I mean life?)

Ah fond memories...

The Silver Jubilee Party (I was 5 but still remember it!)

Water shortages in the really, really hot summer (76?) and walking up to the schoolyard to fill bottles etc from a tanker in the school yard.

My favourite Tshirt... nylon, with Buzby on the front (the little yellow bird from the BT ads).

Watching the snooker on a black and white TV!

The Baycity Rollers!

The Muppets!!!!

The Wombles!!!

The Magic Roundabout!! (still got the LP )

Happy days!

Oh, now this one makes me feel ancient.... I can remember my little brother being born! 1978...

^urban flower...did one of your posters have marc Bolan with a terrantuala(spelling?)on his chest or somewhere about his person? I remember my brother having a huge poster like that.

Alice Cooper made a big break in the Uk in the 70's..Yay !Schools out!
and the Osmonds..crazy horses!
^^Who could forget the Clangers and those whistles they brought out that made the same noise.
Ivor the tank engine
and corry where Deidre wore those huge framed glasses that covered most of her face!

..and every house seemed to be decorated in that weird big patterned(usually bright orange or some other bright colour!) wallpaper and fake brick wall paper too!

Edit ..and of course the birth of Ziggy stardust!

What year was the general strike? I remember all the electric going off in the early evening & going to bed with a candle. I also remember the first thing I saw on a colour TV was Rainbow.

Damn that makes me sound chuffing ancient!

Ah the summer of 76 should of been at college but was down the Finchley Lido dAmned near lost my apprenticeship. The dustman strike and piles of rubbish seemed to every where, the 3 day week. getting a my first proper wage packet and more than half went to house keeping. My first car, sorry did I say car I meant Sunbeam Rapier rust bucket £ 220 and the first bump I went over at speed and the rear shocks went straight through the rear arches top plates. Oxford bags with triple button waist band, stack sole and heel shoes, shirt collars like aircraft wings, long hair with centre parting as opposed to now short hair with a very wide centre parting! The long lane academy for young gentleman and budding phycopaths, inter school fights, the local carnival and the firms float in the parade, being threatened with explusion due to over use of water and flour bombs on the opposition floats, ah happy days.

Bought my first-ever Beatles record
Dumped my first-ever boyfriend (of 3 years)
Lost my virginity
Lost sleep over Apollo 13
Left school
Got my first summer holiday job in an Oxford Street store in London (OK so it was Woolworth's, but hey! it was in London)
Passed my driving test
Left home and went to college

And that was just 1970. The rest of the decade paled into insignificance!

I remember Tonic suits , Crombies, Ben Sherman shirts, Two tone trousers. Right at the beginning of 70's.
Judge Dread, Bay city Rollers when tartan became cool. The Sweet.
Has anyone watched the American programme, That 70's show. Does it remind you of yourself. Sitting with your mates in the garage. In my case the shed drinking barley wine and planning your night out at the youth club disco. Sneaking into the pub and drinking vodka and lime.
Feather hair cut thinking you looked like Suzi Quatro. Your mother showing your picture to the children. You want to die. They think you look cool and you go up in the street cred.
I am going to hunt on here now for a tonic suit.
