Getting stuff back from an ex

My ex still has my bike, half my furniture, 2 designer dresses, and nearly all my summer clothes. He can sell them on eBay for all I care. I'm not going back there for anything.

So now lets see what you could be entitled to if for some reason you had any grounds at all for restitution in this matter.

You crack me up Rock Man!

OP, sorry to hear about your beloved shirt, and the financial strain that it will take for you to replace it...however, in the time you have spent on this post, and mourning this shirt, you could have earned yourself enough money to buy a few more down at your local thrift shop.

It also appears that if this is the extent of your biggest problem right now...you must be leading a pretty sheltered, and blessed life.

Chin up, and move on. Geesh.

Call her up and tell her flat out, "Look you got my shirt. I'm coming to get it. You don't have it, then I'm coming to get you. Either way I'm bringing something back. You, the shirt, or you in the shirt it all works for me."

To Radikal- watch out man, women these days might have a shotgun waiting at the doorway for a guy threatening to come by!

The bottom line is that she is not going to give it back to you, and she is not going to pay for a new one.

It's not worth taking her to court over, so the ONLY OPTION you have is to forget about it and move one.

(I understand your annoyance because I like to tie up loose ends so I would want the shirt back and I'd be annoyed that they got away with keeping it, and also that they would probably be wearing it in the future, but I'd definitely be able to let go of it).

She will be getting some satisfaction out of your annoyance so don't let her!

Overall, let it go and be done with her. She's just trying to be a ****. If it was a $200 Armani shirt and your favorite, send a demand for return of property letter to her certified, then an intent to file suit, and if she doesn't return it, take her to small claims court. (always keep your receipts .... if you don't have one or can't prove you bought it, you'll be at a big disadvantage)

So am I out of line here, or was my request reasonable?

You aren't exactly out of line, but it's just a shirt... Is it really worth nit picking over? I'm a relatively poor college student myself. I'm still not that worried about $20. That's just a matter of snagging another hour or two at work, which is way less stressful than trying to fish it out of the hands of an ex. shortly after the end of the relationship.

I can think of a few shirts I would want back under those circumstances, but I wouldn't lend them out in the first place.
