| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/13/2009 4:39:47 AM | Saints are finally favourtes for the flag. Punters love a good bet. The cats are gone. Two years of listening to the Geelong fans gloat has finally come to an end. Yes Rob they are quiet. Last week the Saints proved they have depth far greater than any other club in the league with their win over the Hawks. This is the year of the Saints & I've waited so long Latest form suggests a Saints Collingwood GF, I'd prefer to rub Geelongs nose in the dirt but the Pies are a good 2nd choice. | |

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/13/2009 5:12:29 AM | before you two start throwing a party remember what happened to "the 'certs" last grand final day.....
the pussies will be ok.....they're not about to roll over and die. they got the word from bomber this week.....they know what to do.
by the way it was never a gloat, i prefer to call it affirmation.....
go pussies! | |

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/13/2009 6:50:52 AM | Quite right Daf... too early to start celibrating. but I'm rejoicing in the Saints best ever year. They (Saints) finished on top in 97 but never really looked like winning the flag. Incidently thats the only time the saints have won the minor premiership with only 15 wins just ahead of the Cats on percentage
Daffie, I can't really accuse you of too much gloating, it's the other Cat that's been licking her paws for two years... time to rub her nose in it I reckon.
Geelong are going to struggle against the low flying swans this w/end. Just face it, Geelong are on the decline. They only had the one flag in 'em this time around.

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/13/2009 12:53:42 PM | | geelongs problem last year was carrying injured players into the game, when the hawks lifted their intensity in the 3rd quarter, about 5 cat blokes just couldnt keep up+ with mooney missing sitters in front of goal, u could see the look on the cats faces, they knew they made a major blue selecting blokes who werent 100% ross lyon wont make that mistake! if anyone isnt fully fit in sept. they wont play! +yes, the cats have lost that aura of invincibility, now its the saints turn! | |

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/13/2009 4:53:05 PM | My thoughts, this years GF will be:
St Kilda v Geelong (probable) St Kilda v Collingwood (possible) Geelong v Collingwood (maybe) The winner will be the best team on the day. Those of you righting Geelong off, do so at your peril. St Kilda are the form side at the moment, but only fell over the line when they last played Geelong after they held a huge lead. Western Bulldogs arn't out of the picture yet either!!
|
| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/13/2009 9:37:05 PM | It will only be a good year for the saints IF they make/win in the GF. Coming into the finals 22-0 will mean absolutely nothing once the finals begin, if anything the saints will be under extreme pressure to perform if that was to happen. I heard that if either St Kilda or Geelong lose in their first finals match then it will be impossible for the two to play off in the Grand Final.
As for the cats, they are doing the clever thing and coasting towards the finals. Why bother putting in too much effort in the remaining 3 games, they will probably finish 2nd regardless of what happens. I still predict a Collingwood vs Geelong Grand Final, the saints will crumble once the real stuff begins. Shame about the Bulldogs, the Eagles brought them back down to earth and probably ruined their season!

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/14/2009 3:40:16 AM | Not intending to be quiet RobW...been in hospital this week and not allowed to use my laptop...
Ok we were disappointing last week..Iwas pretty shattered...but I agree with Robfish..we are carrying too many injuries..and that hurts any team...yes there is every chance that we will finish 2nd and that good enough for me..and trust me..its ok to lose very so often..reminds us that we have to lift....and play four quarters footy EVERY game....so good to have a reality check..
Be interesting to see how we go against Sydney this week....
Personally I would love to see a St Kilda v Geelong GF....but prelim footy is a hard one to pick..because as I stated above...injuries and tiredness is now coming to a head and it really depends who presents the fittest injury proneless team at any given time...!!!
Im not writing off the Doggies or the Pies...I just want to get started on finals footy and watch the great run home... we will be there in the end..I think so...but you know who knows !! that why I love the game so much....you can be down 40 points at half time and still come home !!!
So bring it on...may the final contest be worth it.. and gee Channel 10...thanks for showing our game FINALLY........DELAYED...cause its so much more important to show the WCE game..where the outcome matters little !!!

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/14/2009 4:15:48 PM | hope u are ok pooks, i do hope geelong does come good as we always seem to have fantastic games against each other!! must admit, that dodgy collingwood mob are starting to look like a genuine threat as their form has been 1st class lately! robfish, every side will be under the pump come the finals, the difference between this years saints+the past is the strict game plan ross lyon has them working to+ u could see against the hawks that even with so many stars out, they just pressured them into mistakes+zapped it down our end to score! i,m not getting too carried away but there is a real optimism that this time, finally, we have the team that can+ deserves to give this years flag the father of all shakes!!!! bring it on!!! | |

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/14/2009 5:41:54 PM | The highlight of the Saints vs Hawks game was watching instant replays of Franklins tooth flying out of his mouth, great footage!!!
You're right though, personally I hope the saints make it to the GF but who knows.....strange things can happen in the finals, the Hawks AND Port can still make it and both have been woeful this season. Stop agreeing with me Pooks, i'm an eagles supporter and enjoyed watching the doggies get taken down over the weekend...AND the 2 GF wins over the cats in the 90's! (sorry, i have had very few things to gloat about this season)

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/15/2009 4:28:24 AM | bloody collingwood.....
you know, a couple of years ago on a deserted beach north of cooktown there was a parked combi van with a collingwood beach towel hanging out the window drying in the breeze..... they're everywhere.....
go pussies..... | |

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/16/2009 2:32:21 AM | | well, we have been spanked by those dodgy bombers!!! no cause 4 alarm just yet but i can just see all the misery guts folk out there rubbing their hands together, saying ahhh, now the cracks are starting to appear!! lol its just part of the grand plan to lull u lot into a false sense of security!!!! go u bloody good things!!! | |

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/16/2009 4:32:34 AM | Amazing how 2 points can be the difference between going thru the whole year undefeated or not !!!...still a great game....are thecracks beginning to show ?
Now its bloody exhausting being a Cats Supporter 4000 kms away across the Nullabor..you should have heard the screaming in my computer room listening to the game - live stream (Im sorry you didnt I was watching the game did you ? No such thing as live broadcast here either via TV or radio) still I yelled and screamed and the boys came home....in the end but boy do they know how to make me sweat !!!.......next week the Doggies..match of the round !!!

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/16/2009 4:12:15 PM | More disappointments to come for the Saints?? I told you Nick Riewoldt was unreliable when it comes to pressure moments, he didn't get anywhere near the goals with that after the siren kick! .
Carlton are the new danger team in my opinion especially if they make the top 4, they have already beaten the cats and almost took out the saints earlier in the year.

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/17/2009 2:02:55 AM | | agree with u pooks, match of the round 4 sure! should be a ripper! jeez, the roos will be in a bit of strife this week, saints will be jumping out of their skin to prove they are worthy! just glad i didnt have any bets on the saints last week! lol cant see carlton going too far in sept. dont worry bout st nick robfish, he will shine when the heat is on, just a shame they left it till the last kick to get in front! plenty of champs have lined up+ missed in that situation! give the bloke some credit mate, he plays the game like chappy, vossy, browny, big pav+ plenty of others! in the true spirit of the game!! we love this game!!!! | |

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/17/2009 5:05:55 AM | I actually think that loss by the saints will be good for them. They were pretty much outplayed for 3 quarters & still only lost by a couple of points. Seven or 8 goal down in the 3rd quarter & they (saints) almost snatched it. Paul Roos summed it up nicely...

I tipped Geelong to win against the Swans on Saturday night but I knew they would struggle. I didn't see the game but I believe it was a good one. Geelong play the Doggies next & I can't see them getting close. Last time they played, I think Johno missed a goal after the siren that would have changed the outcome. You can add that one to you list Robw.
I wouldn't get too excited about Carlton Robf I reckon 7th on the ladder is where they belong. They've beaten a couple of top eight teams but mostly the top eight teams have beaten them. When they are "on song" they are hard to beat but not unbeatable.

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/18/2009 5:24:06 AM | ^^^After defeating (thrashing) the mighty Richmond! Even a champion like Cousins couldn't improve their team, so glad i'm not a tigers supporter!
Pressures now off the Saints, expectations would have been A LOT higher on them in the finals if they finished 22-0. Still tipping a Geelong vs Collingwood GF though, just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/18/2009 11:20:04 PM | | i gather u pie supporters would prefer to play geelong over the saints! i,m hoping like hell we get to play ur mob in september, last few times we have met, its been a flogging+ i must admit, it doesnt get any better then sending u lot home crying! will see how the kangas go with a new coach this week! tough game 4 the sainters but we will answer our legion of critics as we have done all year bar last weeks hiccup! maybe that is just the tonic the boys needed!! very interesting times ahead methinks!!! go saints!!! | |

| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/20/2009 2:15:36 AM | Still recovering from Sunday's game against the Bombers. i went to it; and god we looked shit for 2.5 quarters. Luckily the Saints came good at the end and escaped with enough brownie points.
And everyone has been saying to me "This is teh loss the Saints needed"
I see Ball and Hughton have been omitted this week for Jones and McQualter; a changing of the guard perhaps
|
| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/20/2009 12:59:58 PM | | pretty tough on those 2 players samurai, but i think lyon is sending a clear message to the playing group, letting them know that no-ones position is safe unless u play to the game plan! i hope luke+ maxie can get straight back in as we really need them for the finals!! cats vs dogs tonight, should be another fantastic game! go saints!!!! | |
|
| Footy - Who will win the premiership (Go the Saints) Posted: 8/21/2009 6:23:44 AM | oh boy......what a game!
i was "harassed "throughout the game by one of you mad sainters, a new message at every score change.....for a while there i thought i could tell him to get s.....d. bring on sunday's game, hopefully then i can.....lol
there are going to be a few changes on the betting for the grand final after this weekend..... c'mon pussies!
