| Exercising for Weight Loss vs. Training for Performance Gains Posted: 7/10/2009 12:12:11 PM | If a scale isnt moving up or down your doing something wrong with your diet, you arnt losing 2 lbs of fat and replacing it with 2 lbs of muscle each week to stay even.
the initial Fat loss does come off quick and then you may have slowed down, but it should not come to a stop, so look over your diet / calorie intake and also pick a day/time like Friday morning and weigh yourself just once a week at the same time in your underwear/with no shoes on and use that as your mark for week to week basis.

Nor do we automatically replace 15 pounds of fat with 15 pounds of new muscle.

| Muscle wieghs more than Fat Posted: 7/12/2009 11:22:48 AM | What weighs more a lb of lead or a lb of feathers? Humm that's a tough one.
People a lb is a lb no matter what it is so muscle does not weight more than fat. Not today and not ever.
On the other hand muscle is denser and occupies less space than fat.

| Muscle wieghs more than Fat Posted: 7/13/2009 11:56:53 PM | 5lbs is 5lbs whether it is muscle or fat it just takes up space differently. Muscle is more concentrated and dense. I think you should congradulate yourself for taking the 15-20 lbs off. I am trying food combining and I think that eating less meat helps . The theory behind food combining is that when you eat proteins your body kicks in acid digestive enzymes and when you eat carbs it kicks in alkaline if you eat these two together than the enzymes cancel each other out and your food sits there and ferments and does not get used efficiently so it turns to storage as in fat. So if you do make a mistake and eat carbs with protein you can fix this by eating beans with the starch and making that a complete protein. It seems to help my digestion and I feel alot less bloated eventhough I am eating beans and more fiberous foods. All in all I would say if you are feeling like your routine is easy it is time to step it up a notch but it is hard after 40 period. | |
