I don't know about better.........but I've stood up to the proverbial brick shiite house in my life, knowing if it got heated I'd be pummeled into mince.
And been utterly terrified by a 5'2'' redhead with a shoe in her hand.
Better? not sure. Scarier? DEFINITELY.
SJ - you are so right. Girls are better than boys.............hehe

Yes I have, and I've better things to do than join in with battles lower down the ranks. I'll leave them to squabble between themselves whilst I service the females .
I'm really worried about your mental state Joe. I believe, that you believe , what your saying to be true. Good God...... I'm almost speechless.
I don't think I've ever seen such a pointless battle of egos before. I'm sure the ladies are most impressed and were entertained by the quote boxes. Far superior to laugh and walk away
I think maybe you should refresh your memory. I recall you being involved in these kind of one -upmanship , copy and paste wars on a daily basis not so long ago . Maybe I'm getting you mixed up with somebody else. [johnny shakes his head in disbelief]

I like the quote:
When one regards another as superior he has just made himself inferior
Not sure who made that remark btw.
Its to do with how Racism become acetable, first your better than them, then its ok to make them into slaves etc, of course racist forget there is only one human race, but try to pretend that there are more and its aceptable to exploit those races that are inferior, they even went as far to explain that slavery was good for them.......otoh, those who *think* differences between peoples and cultures, should be thought of as positives rather than nagatives had to work hard to limit racisms effects.

Oooooh, now there's a subject!!!!
I don't do alpha male. You can be alpha in some scenarios and not in others, and it's all pretty pointless anyway.
Ok so its not you then, try that dictionary i mentioned to you earlier. alpha male alpha male (plural alpha males)
noun Definition: 1. dominant male animal: a male in a pack of wolves, or a similar pack or troop of animals, that other members submit to and follow and that takes priority in mating with females
2. dominant man: a man who controls the activities of a group and to whom others defer ( informal )

The piss taking and riling of the OP and co on this thread...isn't it just another form of superiority?(myself included in the piss takers).
There can be no winner in this thread..just a group of people fighting to be noticed.

In what way don't you 'do' alpha male?
Do you disagree with the definition of what an alpha male is, or do you not accept that an alpha male can exist?
|

neither. As stated, I just do not see the point in even judging it for the reasons stated earlier........that we do not live as apes where one individual contrls the group, we live in discrete groups even within our own lives where it's possible to be defnined as 'alpha' in one group and not in another discreet part of your life.
So all in all, where's the point in being or trying to be 'alpha' The entire POINT of being alpha becomes in my opinion, meaningless in our societal structure. I have met men more powerful than me who have sought to impose their will on me.........it's never worked yet (unless they offer me cold hard cash in the form of salary to submit to them professionally of course)

Neither??
Well, let's look at what you said..
I just do not see the point in even judging it for the reasons stated earlier........that we do not live as apes where one individual contrls the group, we live in discrete groups even within our own lives where it's possible to be defnined as 'alpha' in one group and not in another discreet part of your life.
So, you accept that it is POSSIBLE for an alpha male to exist in a particular group? After all, the definition is applied by human observers, and not always by the male in question (given that apes, for instance, don't use the term), and you do accept that:
I don't do alpha male. You can be alpha in some scenarios and not in others
You also agree with the definition of an alpha male, and that it applies to males in certain groups.
So, you claim to agree with the definition of an alpha male, and you accept that they exist.
So, I'm confused by your comment:
I don't do alpha male.
because it's clear that you do! It doesn't matter if a man is the 'alpha' in one group, and not in another - all that matters is for him to be thus defined in ANY group he is a part of.
|

It's actually quite clear that I don't. I have quite clearly stated in previous posts that:
(1) I seek to control no one except myself. (2) I have met men more powerful than me who have sought to 'control' me and it has never worked.
Because in our society, an 'alpha' male can only be such when you allow them to be.
To be clear, my comment was that I do not do alpha male. Not that others do not do it. You are seeking argument where there is none. It isn't interesting.

Quite, but my query isn't related to how you view yourself with regard to being an 'alpha male'.
my comment was that I do not do alpha male. Not that others do not do it.
I get you - you accept that alpha males exist, and that the definition is correct, but that you don't see yourself as being one.
You've explained your earlier comment so well.......thanks!

I'll go futher and say those who think they are are quite funny to me.
All you have to do is stand, arms folded and watching as they do the 'chest beating' then walk off.
In meetings I meet the type quite often. They try to establish control.......and I allow them to do the chest beat, then draw their attention back to the matter in hand. The reactions are generally ones of then taking a much more passive position. It's a thing of beauty to execute.
Further, by definition, if someone in the group refuses to engage in the game and stands outside of it, can they still be considered to even BE alpha?

Depends on the reactions of those still left inside the group,if they choose to follow Mr.Solitary then he turns into Mr.Alpha superiorititis (I made that shite up)

Ah, but not if Mr Solitary does not seek to dominate the meeting but to treat it as an open and honest forum to reach a fair resolution.
Some of it from Kath.

If they respect enough they will follow regardless of whether he beckons them or not.
Tis why we have such admiration for the underdog rather than the one thrusting themselves in the limelight..the underdog is stealth like and trustworthy whilst Mr Superiority comes across as blinkered and selfish.

Thereby demonstrating that you don't understand the term 'alpha male'.
I suspected as not.
An 'alpha male' knows he is in that position, not merely thinks he is. 'Control' is already established by him being 'deferred' to, viz:
Definition:
2. dominant man: a man who controls the activities of a group and to whom others defer ( informal ).
When one doesn't understand a term, one cannot discuss its use/application/consequences with any authority.

You remind me of The Sun newspaper. the way you use words such as 'admit' when a person has in fact merely said. Or demonstrated, when in fact they've commented an opinion which you have willfully chosen to misunderstand so you can take issue with it in an effort to appear as though you're an 'alpha'
You do make me laugh you know.
