TRAVEL, THEATER, TENNIS, SAILING, FINE WINE, FINE DINING, ART Hmmm not got any of these on mine... perhaps I should re-write my profile?

| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/12/2009 9:41:33 AM | | You're right. I like cultural events but they happen infrequently unless you live in the big city. So I'm not looking to do it every day! My attorney is stymied @ my lack of excitement about receiving a settlement. I'd much rather have known what it felt like to be loved in return & had a happy family life doing everything together. Money doesn't last long, like some other pleasures. Reciprocal love or should I say appreciation & respect. Caring for one another. That's what we're all looking for here. No sense fighting about it. There are so many profiles here, if we see a profile that doesn't appeal then move on. If they all seem to say something we don't want, then ask for what you want in your profile. | |

| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/12/2009 9:54:02 AM | I like cuddling at home, T.V., computer and fast food. But I am the biggest gold digger of all, so that blows your theory. Men buy my groceries and pay my cable bill biatch. Just kidding..... Or am I? Really who cares. Just put "not a provider type" on your profile and the women that have senses will stay away and the women that doesn't mind buying your beer will send you a message. | |

| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/12/2009 11:21:35 AM | I agree that many people's "interests" can give a false impression on what they REALLY do in their day-to-day lives (for either gender). I agree that there are ladies who get warm fuzzies about the thought of "FINE wine", "FINE dining" and the theatre and all that good stuff because it makes them feel they're in a higher social class (see high-school).
But that doesn't mean they're gold diggers! And some women actually DO enjoy wine bars and occasionally see a play, without the snobbishness attitude that may linger with some.
Just because gold-diggers go ga-ga over, say wine bars, does not mean every gal who likes going to a wine bar is a gold-digger.

| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/12/2009 11:55:43 AM | Wow that is a little bit harsh OP... as to putting in interests, did it ever occur to you that some women really do enjoy doing those things and it has nothing to do with a man's money. Hell my guess is that if the woman is enjoying those things single, she's paying for them herself...
I'm single, I travel and I enjoy fine wines, fine dining and scuba diving.... etc. Does that automatically make me a gold digger in your book? If so, I need to point out that my your theory of us all being a gold digger is flawed as i make a decent living, do not have a man paying for my interests and I do them regularly... with or without someone...

I agree that many people's "interests" can give a false impression on what they REALLY do in their day-to-day lives (for either gender). Well put and made me go back and look at my interest list. There are many interests but all are only things I like to do when I'm not doing one of my favorites which is just being alone with a special someone. Favorite interest is preparing a nice meal together and enjoying it with just us, a few friends, on a sailboat at sunset or maybe a special place outside under the stars. Maybe I'm weird but as time goes by I find I just don't enjoy most of my interests alone. I won't even rent a DVD unless I have someone to share it with. Then again I am not like most, I traveled a lot and never being married I did many things by myself. Thankfully I am gifted with many friends so I still get to enjoy many of my interests...

| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/12/2009 1:25:46 PM | Yeah, there are gold diggers out there. It is a sad reality. I'm sure there are things men can do to identify and weed them out.
Usually, slim and trim women dress sexy, and badaboooomm.....men get blinded by that and never notice what hit them. Tough luck!
It's about time for men to get smarter...

Secondly, I'm not sold that "everyone likes money." I am willing to bet there are a lot of people out there who are more than happy living their lives without focusing on how much they're making, or questing to grow their accounts. In fact, you might enjoy, like, or love the things you can do and buy with money, but how do you like a simple piece of paper?
You are so right, cinsav! All I need is enough money to pay my bills each month and a little extra for a night out and I'm as happy as Sponge Bob Square Pants! In the end we all die so why not focus on the great life one has instead of stressing out over making lots and lots of money or keeping up with the neighbors?

| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/12/2009 10:56:44 PM | | How did this even end up as a post?..I think it's simple, if they aren't the picture they paint, then say goodbye and lets all go do some fun filled midget tossing. there's a activity everyone can get into. don't take it so serious, hasn't everyone figured out yet that this has a entertainment value and that's about it. If you do meet someone...great, but if you don't it really isn't the end of the world. | |

I have to laugh everytime I read a half way decent womans profile and their likes almost always say a few of these TRAVEL, THEATER, TENNIS, SAILING, FINE WINE, FINE DINING, ART
I love to travel...followed the Grateful Dead around for a summer here & there in the past...made just enough $$ selling tye dyes to pay for my ticket & gas money home!
Can't really stand theater...unless we're talking about a multiplex full of horror flicks.
Hate tennis.
Sailing is out...can't swim.
Fine wine? I'd rather have tequila.
Fine dining...RED LOBSTER RULES...and IHOP for breakfast would be da bomb.
Art...not so much...unless it's a book of Calvin & Hobbes!
Money...I've got my own, don't need yours.

I've learned in my years not to sweat the small stuff.
....except when it comes to reading what women write in their profiles.

| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/13/2009 6:59:47 PM | | I don't mind that, I just don't like the profiles that read "Ask me to find out more" which just shows they were lazy. | |
|
| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/13/2009 8:09:34 PM | I do get a laugh out of some things. The funniest one is long walks on the beach.
Yet the profiles I'm browsing are from the midwest.
We don't have friggin beaches.

My pet peeve is women that say that they love bungy jumping, and that like to live life to their fullest, then you see their photo and they are about 400 lbs. If they go off a bridge, they bridge is going down. If they go of a crane the crane is going to snap.

| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/13/2009 8:33:18 PM | | Have you ever thought some of these over 40 women like those activities because they actually do them on their own dime? | |

| Womens likes in profiles Posted: 7/13/2009 8:54:50 PM | TRAVEL, THEATER, TENNIS, SAILING, FINE WINE, FINE DINING, ART
Um, dude is there something wrong with women enjoying these things? Many women enjoy some of these activities because they are doing them alone and want someone to join them, because many women WORK and can AFFORD these activities THEMSELVES.
Jesus.
For example, I'm an artist, so I LIKE art and I list it as an interest in my profile. I'm not looking for someone with money, but it is nice to date guys who enjoy art as I do. It's just nice to share similar interests.
Also, travel, theater and fine dinning are very common interests. Both genders enjoy these, not just women. There are plenty of women who love to travel and do so, but want a partner to travel with. There are also plenty of men AND women who love fine wine, and keep wine collections. These interests are not gender exclusive.
As far as tennis and sailing, I have no interest in those personally, but some women do, or they grew up playing tennis or hanging out on friends/parents' boats. Or like I stated above, there are plenty of women who can afford their own boats, and want partners to go boating with them.
When did these interests automatically mean "gold-digger" to some? Kind of ignorant to assume that about those you don't know...
