Hi: caramello-kam;
No disagreement was intended;the 'quality' of good material and the STITCHING by designers that hire quality labour is so hard to find when the 'slave labour' culture invaded us many years ago. The individual in being 'seduced' by what looks good on a shelf rack (AT A MUCH CHEAPER PRICE)and extrapolates that logic to conclude that it will 'sit' well on them personally and wear well over time!
WRONG!Penny wise pound foolish!
I for one would never trade off quality for price but the fact that cheap human slave labour is degrading overseas societies by "screwing" the exploited worker with horrendous piece pricing and a wage the average Aussie would never tolerate notwithstanding the belching out of pollution and lack of any morality towards injured working human beings who are no different to us 'makes me sick'!
Returning back to this thread, the 'skinny look' is perhaps dsigned for the body that matches it.It is designed for a flat stomach,a very fat free body, skinny legs, skinny arms,a very fine lined profile with small fine hands and a waistline that perhaps does not exceed 26inches.Colours are usually pastel (Black,Cherry,Dark Blue) silhouetted to intensify the outline and skin tonings............not everyone's dress suitability but 'stunning' with the right model. It is very user specific and is a style that will live on forever!

Gotta say, I very much admire your ethical consumerism. When we dig a little deeper, a lot of the cheaper options we have for purchasing various items (including coffee & chocolate) do indeed come on the back of another human being enduring onerous conditions to produce it for us, same principle as when we buy cheap animal products. Kudos to you for not 'buying' into it.

In my very humble opinion, there are far better ways to show off a decent set of legs. But the safari suit...I nearly choked on my tea when I read FauxPa's line...but he just might be onto something there.
And to this friend of Hilly's, in whose honour this thread was created, I know who you are and for heavens sake, put the moose knuckle away...if nothing else, it's a goddamn traffic hazard!

Aaaaah! But if you think the male would feel about YOUR IMAGE as you do you are very mistaken!
I guess at 58 kg I cannot afford to open my gab but speaking from a male's point of view the attraction is explosive!
The designer's of fashion parade along a very narrow catwalk !The woman who is dressed to this style is looking for a market from women who buy to attract their partner and would-be hunks! This is the whole basis of fashion and why not!
Skinny jeans worn with a beautiful fit and a beautifully cut top that accentuates body movement will 'turn eyes' although nobody will ever admit to it in public!!!!!!!
YOU know THAT and I know THAT and that is what attraction is all about!!!!!!! The exquisitely clothed"arse"(to quote Hilly) AND BODY WILL ALWAYS BE a BEAUTIFUL SIGHT!
Come on Naamah!Isn't it the same with women's feelings towards to men?
(PS:I would be careful about upsetting Hilly! This "contract" thing that Hilly has going is worrying Me;I upset Her but "I think I got away with it" to quote John Cleese!)

In my case, any would-be hunks will have to have their eyes turned by boot leg jeans. And hey, I've lived through a season of skinnies before. When I was in early highschool, we wore 3/4 skinnies with a zip at the bottom of each leg (they weren't stretch denim so you had to be able to get your feet in them, then zip the leg-zips for the snug fit against the calf) so it's not like I'm sitting on my rocking chair shocked fanning my face, stunned at the very notion these young folk have come up with. But full length, and stretchy...nnggghh. I just don't think it's a flattering look and at my age I feel comfortable enough to wear what I believe flatters me, rather than what fashion dictates. But those who like the look should skinny themselves silly...if they feel good, wear 'em. Julian said he wore a pair and got hit on by a 20 year old, so...give the young fashionistas what they want.
Come on Naamah!Isn't it the same with women's feelings towards to men? When I saw Pink's concert recently, the support band were all wearing skinny jeans. Now I'm as much of a sucker for the lead singer as any chick, and these guys had OK bods, but...nah, they just looked weird to me. The jeans were a turn off rather than the other way around...made their legs look like sticks. Sorry...I don't think they flatter any male body type either.
PS:I would be careful about upsetting Hilly! S'ok, I have her horse held hostage...she's right where I want her.

The safari suit thingy . . . Is it a shortie one with matching knee length socks?? Hmmm . . the ones I knew had short sleeves but long pants.
WARNING: Image of John Howard in a Safari Suit follows. Please . . carefully put down your tea before looking at the link.
http://tinyurl.com/mq34hy
This all goes back to the 80's when I worked with a guy (Ralph) who thought Safari Suits were cool. It was a rather polarised fashion back then . . ya either liked them or loathed them . . and I loathed them. My real loathing probably stemmed from a time we were waiting for some big wigs to come to our office for a meeting. The intention was to sell them a very expensive computer network over lunch. Everyone at the meeting was dressed in a 'normal' dark suit and we were trying to look like we knew what we were talking about . . a lot of that went on at the time . . hehe. To cut a long story short, Ralph stuck his head in during the meeting and the look on these guys faces said it all. I took note that, to be interrupted by a corpulent Don Dunstan look-alike in a pastel blue Safari Suit does not add credibility to ones pitch.
Now where were we? . . Oh, yes . . skinny jeans. I took lunch at my usual place today in order to further my research. I sat outside 'cos the sun was shining briefly and I could watch the girls bottoms more readily. Hmmm . . that didn't really come out right did it.
Anyway, I'm duly jotting down my research notes on the subject (because some of the girls had threatened me for perving) and I've come to the realisation that while the bottoms look as good as they always do, they don't seem to move as naturally as they should. I mean . . it all looks perfectly normal and well presented, but somehow the jounce and flounce is missing. You know . . that absolutely normal but subtle movement that bottoms do as they're proceeding past your camera . . .
Gawd . . who started this thread anyway.

Posted: 7/15/2009 6:30:10 AM | Some adults carry serious emotional childhood scars from being beaten by their parents or tortured by a sadistic uncle, others suffer from having been locked in a cupboard and forced to live on a diet of rats and****oaches....Me I still carry the trauma of being forced, at the tender age of 9, to wear a sky blue safari suit to my sisters wedding. Then to add insult to injury, had to wear it to the local pizza hut the following week...to 'get some wear out of it' was the excuse my parents gave.
On topic...how about skin-tight safari suits?
EDIT:
Julian said he wore a pair and got hit on by a 20 year old, so...give the young fashionistas what they want.
Yeah well, it makes up for not getting any action as a nine year old.

"And the Safari Suit thing was just me trying to get Peter4444's goat . . unsuccessfully apparently"
I have to tell ya,Faux Pa----That did not 'fly over the top of my head';the horrendous consequences of that style remains painful and mental scar tissue remain to this very day!
It is incumbent on me to state that those who did model such an outfit would have their senses pervaded to such extent that continuous 'projectile puking' would be automatic...........and yet bring no relief.
This 'abomination' lasted some 'seconds' in a fashion sense but it was also necessary to 'crew cut' one's hair when the styles were shoulder length to 'show' them and with the divorce rate rising at the time you never took such a chance despite the money being good.Your GF was worth more than all the money in the world.....Yet there was a guy I know who did............he is still on medication............
Yes; you did hit me hard and Pleaaaasseeeee, don't ever mention that word combination again.......

My daughter actually has a pair and I jokingly asked her if maybe I should get some. She looked me up and down and for a split second I thought she might say yes. Instead she said "Mum, you realise you are nearly 40 don't you?.......stick to the trackie pants"
Hilly, it was the reverse for me. A cold Adelaide winter about 10 years ago and I saw some knitted jumpers that I thought looked good for the price. At the time I worked at UniSA so it was a kind of "business casual" environmental... jeans with a collared shirt kind of vibe. Anyway, I'd left my then 14 year old daughter and her best mate at Maccas while I looked for clothes, so I dragged the girls back to give an opinion on the jumper. My ever-helpful daughter asked if I was going to a fancy dress part as Uncle Arthur! Her best mate was less cutting and said "But Rob. It's not like you're HEAPS old." :-)

| Skinny jeans....yes or no? Posted: 7/16/2009 4:40:09 PM | Hilly:Mind You;there is a very attractive trend that was initiated by some gorgeous women of Asian Descent that wear really skinny jeans back down to their thighs over Black tights which would sit well with the 'right' figure;with untucked tight tee's and a shorter length skinny sweater. Colour combinations would be vital for the right effect. With Black long straight hair styles the effect is stunning if a wide Red sash sash is worn around the waist to accentuate movement...............
Something women could choose to wear in the Summer;especially and would perhaps change the 'tone' of current 'fashion statements' in vogue.

Down with skinny jeans!
Sounds fine in theory but in practise????? Trying to get those buggers off late a night, mildly intoxicated and severely uncoordinated is a true test of sexual attraction..mostly I remember giving up and going to sleep. I also remember a 6 foot girlfriend lying on the floor with me using the hook of a coathanger to zip up her size 10 jeans on a size 14 body...then she had to be helped up, couldn't sit down or move until the material had stretched a bit (the godsend of lycra had not been invented) but MAKE SURE not to stretch it too much or they would sag and then some two hours later we would be off to the local disco where it was too dark to see anything anyway.
Skinny jeans on men........oh yuck, they either look like a stick insect or a butch drag queen in denial.
Have to say the highlight of reading this thread was imagining Julian in a sky blue safari suit, will be giggling for days on that one. I have a pic of me in bright red hotpants circa 1969.....even then I knew pillar box red is not a good colour for me...great legs though.
When are they going to bring in the fashion of kilts.....am waiting in weird fetishy breathlessness. You get to see the legs in all their glory and feigning fainting a lot more from the floor as they bend over to administrate whatever they damned well please.

' remember a 6 foot girlfriend lying on the floor with me using the hook of a coathanger to zip up her size 10 jeans on a size 14 body'.
This is soooo common these days and the (anticipated) belief in attractiveness is emotional and imaginary but then whatever fuels the brain is very powerful; we all want to look 'nice' externally and looking skinny and fit has always been associated with attraction........................ the jeans these days have a size 12 that fits a size 14 waist because manufacturers cut them that way to make us feel better about ourselves.
'I have a pic of me in bright red hotpants circa 1969.....even then I knew pillar box red is not a good colour for me...great legs though'.
Bland statement about one item of apparel........
It's the coordination and careful choice of colours that counts;Red with (maybe)Black top carefully chosen to accentuate the lean separation between waist and midriff;the length of the well curved top with clear demacation of the waist and beginning of the Red! hot pants with a slight (sly!)display of bare waist!
Speaking from a male point of view it's the 'full package' that instils the 'chemistry in the brain'and believe me when I say that this varies so much;A friend of mine got 'fixated' on a girl(Cheryl) who worked with her who wore pink stockings,Green nailpolish,Red folk-type ankle long dress and Pink dyed hair with Purple makeup on a very light skin. Her work was always deadly accurate (thus the reason for her remaining on the payroll without demise!)and flawless and having married her they remain in perfect wedded bliss with several children; He an accountant with Black suit,pre-ordained spectacles,a dull-minded number-cruncher with an affable personality!
Such are the vagaries of life!
Away with your fictions of flimsy romance, Those tissues of falsehood which Folly has wove; Give me the mild beam of the soul-breathing glance, Or the rapture which dwells on the first kiss of love.

Think like Descarte (whose first love was poetry) you should wear whatever you fancy provided it comes with a blood spotted handkerchief nicked of course from Byron. Methinks Cheryl rocks and so does her partner. Clothes are indeed fripperies, I should know having done theatre...my wardrobe consists of several different personaes. The posh, kookie, arty, pratical and my favourite the pyjamaed slob....if I owned a pair that is. Nekked is also a cool look literally in the summer. Skinny jeans are for the young and I judge them on how I used to look in them...so most look bloody awful.

nothing worse than pants that are a struggle to get into or get out of .. or peel off someone else in a plausable emergency... ...
most of the sub cultures that I developed my fashion sense through didn't favour the skin tight/black clothes look.... even riding bikes they weren't much good... .. not exactly beach wear or sailing clobber... who mainly went baggier is better.... 'cause you need some movement....and colour....
