Sometimes people forget sleep actually plays a crucial role as the catalyst.

| Motivation Posted: 10/31/2009 2:32:09 PM | I know how u feel! Working out always motivated me to do other things through out the day. I just feel better! But sometimes when the motivation to WORK OUT isn't there, putting on upbeat music really helps get that workout mood back! | |

| Motivation Posted: 10/31/2009 7:30:26 PM | Unlike the OP, I haven't been active my whole life; only started to in my early 30s.
What's similar is recently with the arrival of colder temperatures (close to zero degrees C and below), I've automatically switched to hibernation mode. Unlike the previous years when it only lasted as long as I became numb from the cold wind, this year I'm finding it difficult to snap out of it.
I got a cheap motorized treadmill and I have to force myself to wake up earlier when I'm already staying half hour later in bed than when I used to hit the gym religiously. I just couldn't get my groove back until...
This is the second year that my workplace has this health/fitness challenge where anyone who signs up can log steps walked, or any activities like shopping (!!), housework, soccer, swimming etc that use energy.
The competitiveness I never knew I had before got me on the treadmill early in the mornings, walked around whenever I could at work, hit the gym at lunch, so on and so forth so that I can log as many "steps" as possible in this 6-week challenge. I got thinking this afternoon, wondering how I lost my motivation in the first place as I was sweating it up on the treadmill on a Saturday (crazy? yes).
So what I'm saying is, you gotta find the thing that will get you back into your game, be it a gym partner, a goal (my coworker wants to look fabulous in a string bikini in the Bahamas), that cute guy who shows up at the gym...whatever it takes!
Good luck with getting your groove back!
