Posted: 9/13/2009 3:34:29 PM | I see 2 main factors being discussed here. I agree with those that say get out of it because he's going through a divorce. See him after it's final. I wouldn't get involved in something as intense as that.
The second factor which I don't understand is all the people commenting negatively on the age difference. Since I was 18, I've ONLY dated much older men. Here is why: Younger women often enjoy the company of older man for a variety of reasons. A very common reason that many women turn to older men is that these men are more mature than the men their own age. Women mature faster than men and therefore want to be with a man who is closer to them in maturity level. Women do not want to date a man who would rather play computer games then spend time with her. This is not a problem with an older man.
Some women, and in particular those who have an absent father, look to an older man as a type of father figure or mentor. This is often a mutually beneficial arrangement for both parties involved. A woman will receive guidance and gain more life experience from being with an older man while the older man gets to feel that he is powerful and is looked up to by the woman.
Men who are mature also tend to be worldlier and more self-confident as they know themselves better, which is something that attracts younger women. Older men are more experienced sexually but tend to have less of a sex drive but many women find that the lovemaking with an older man is completely fulfilling to them, as older men are better at listening to the needs of a younger woman than a man their own age tends to be. Not being as driven by testosterone often makes older men better in bed than younger men, according to some women. Older men often view pleasure in a different light than younger men and are more concerned with the woman’s pleasure as opposed to their own. This makes them very appealing to younger women.
Older men tend to be more steadfast and stable and are generally more established and settled in their chosen careers than are younger men. The security that comes from being financially viable and well established is traits that tend to draw younger women to older men in droves. An older man is no longer in college or struggling away at a low paying job but is secure and generally doing well at his profession.
Women like the chivalry that older men often show and they like the fact that older men tend to have more respect for them and they are polite and have manners. Women like men who know how to be men. In today’s society many young people are delaying growing. Most women want to be with men who are responsible and can stand on their own two feet and are able to support themselves and take care of themselves without their mother’s help. Most women do not want a man who is supported his parents. That is why many younger women seek out the company of an older man.  | |

Get real; there isn't an 18 year girl in the world that can meet my needs emotionally in ANY way. They are kids; I have more experience in life in my left pinky than an 18 year old has in their whole life.
It's sick; the guy just wants a naive young girl to have sex with. Many young girls get off on telling their friends that they are dating an older guy and it's a big deal to them. They get big time self esteem from it.
Any 40 year old that thinks an 18 year old can meet their needs is a friggin mess. You are a little girl who cant' drink, rent a car, and you can barely vote. sorry but this is as dysfunctional as it gets.
Young girls love the security of maturity, money, manners, and everything else. You need to get it from a father and not a guy with 3 kids coming out of a bad marriage. | |

I honestly find, that now, with 40 being the new 20 for women, slowly, 40 is becoming the new 20 for men as well. Now obviously I have no way in proving this, but I have recent examples that make statement this a no brainer. | |

A child that can vote, smoke, and go to war. A child that can enter a legally binding contract. A child that can choose to get a job or which college to go to. A child that is bound by every law and has no access to juvenile court. A child that her parents can kick out onto the street. A child that can get married without parental consent.
yes but they cannot buy alcohol legally. i believe legal age in most states is 21
Yes, the moral police can send us to war, to make life or death decisions,maybe get shot or kill but to say your not old enough to love someone or care. humm

Yes that is true, and it's not just to get laid. lol Yet you'll hear it here nonetheless from the moral police in whats exceptionable to them.lol
I was married once, to a woman for 20 years, who was 10 years younger then me, she was very mature and we raised two beautiful and healthy children. so yes, when it comes to caring and sharing together,age is just a number. | |

But riddle me this, batgirl!
If this was true, and younger women were flocking to older men "in droves" why is it that in 90% of young women's profiles on here, they set their age limits to only a few years older than themselves? Most younger women I know don't even put that much thought into a relationship.
This girl is 18. She is being manipulated by a MARRIED older man into believing he loves her but i think we all know better then that! He is using her as a mistress and she is so gullible that she's buying his whole BS story. He's a freakin perv and should be locked up! He's only one year away from Statutory Rape!!! | |
