Where's the Ask a Sapiosexual forum?

well I guess ya'll are right...I know if I were gay I wouln't post anything on these forums...

I go to a GBLT website cuz most of these meatheads cant stand a original thought or a dissenting opinion. They would not look at it as a chance to understand a fellow communtity, they would see it as an afont to their sensablilities...

I respect the idea and thanks for presenting it, but I think the Ask a Girl and Ask a Guy covers it.

I would post this in the suggestion forum instead of off topic.

Not saying it will be put in...just saying that's the place to put it.

You would also need a few other catogories.
In fact, not counting transvestites and transexuals we would need:

1. Ask a guy.
2. Ask a girl.
3. Ask a gay.
4.Ask a lesbian.
5.Ask a bisexual.

We could further divide these catogories.
Masculine gay guy? Or fruity gay guy with a lisp?
Lipstick lesbian? Or butch, shaved head militant lesbian?

Maybe you could start threads with some type of tag showing what type of people you want responses from?

Like: "Gay men, what do you think about ____________?"

Firstly, let me say that the components of an online forum go:

Forum > Board > Thread > Post

Now that's over with ...

There is definitely room for an LGBT (GLBT) board within this forum, if not a necessity. Many may argue that one is not required as there are several boards already which could accommodate the issues faced in an LGBT board, but: 1) You're unlikely to reach your target audience for a first-hand opinion and 2) There are already boards which are technically unnecessary so there's really no excuse not to add a board that applies to a primary dating platform.

I see that some people have also tried arguing that if POF accommodates for the LGBT community, they will/should also have to accommodate for every other community, i.e. Asians, Jews, Men 5' and Under, etc. This isn't true as attraction and the search for a relationship almost always begin with the person in question determining to which sex they are attracted; they then determine the other attributes of the person they are attracted to until they've found a basic model, i.e. Male - Black, Muslim, between 40 and 50, slim to average, 5'11 to 6'5, etc.

And so, we come back to the issue of unnecessary boards. Here are a list of boards and what are technically/could be considered sub-boards [not including Worldwide/USA/Canada and Sex and Sexuality which are justifiably independent]:

Relationship Issues

- Single Parents
- Ask a Girl
- Ask a Guy
- Broken Hearts

Dating Experiences

- Dating Over 30
- Dating Over 45
- Dating and Love Advice

Stories and Creative Writing

- Poems and Quotes

Off Topic

- Profile Reviews
- Recipes and Cooking
- Humor
- Travel
- Science/Philosophy
- Sports
- Art/Music
- Health and Fitness

Plentyoffish Get Togethers

- Event Hosts forum

Plentyoffish Site/Suggestions/Help

- Technology and Computers
- Volunteer Moderators Only

As you can see, most of the boards are technically unnecessary but exist anyway - why not a board concerning an ever-growing group of people who wish to discuss LGBT issues with like-minded people? There's no harm and a definite interest.

While I'm here, POF should also add the option 'Both' to the 'Looking For' box in the main website. Without it, bisexuals have to pick either 'Male' or 'Female' or create two profiles to accommodate their sexuality. I'm sure we can all agree that it's a simple error that should be corrected.

I'd like to see Ask a Wienershitzel. There are many things I've often wondered about dating from the perspective of a drive-thru hotdog.

Why wouldn't the Ask A Girl forum work for you? Just let them know you're asking from a gay perspective. There's plenty of man loving people in there to answer many of the questions you have.

Dating is dating, relationships are relationships, and sex is sex. Does it really matter if the poster is gay or straight.

Yes, because questions that are geared toward LGBT issues are best addressed by people with experience in these matters. True, some of them could probably be addressed regardless of orientation, (especially if they were very general) but there are more exclusive issues to consider as well.

The gay community keeps striving for equality. To segregate their questions, concerns and comments into an inane Ask a Gay forum would be to deny them that equality.

I fail to see how it's a matter of segregation. They would still have access to any other board, and straight users would have access to the LGBT board. A LGBT board would simply be a better-qualified place to have your questions answered, if you felt your question warranted a more qualified / specific audience. It would be too tedious to post something LGBT-specific in a more general board, and simply hope for other LGBT users to notice the thread among all the other content.

What would be next? As a Left Hander, Ask a Tall Guy? Ask a BBW? Where would it end?

Obviously a slippery-slope argument. Instead of dismissing the idea, try arguing against its merits.
