Ever misplaced THE RING
Posted: 9/24/2009 8:04:07 PM
Took off my rings at work one day to put lotion on, walked around to another cubicle and someone from another department grabbed all of them, including my wedding ring. My husband was upset for me and replaced the ring. Never said anything about how stupid it was, he just felt badly because two of the rings were irreplaceable, one a gift from my then-deceased grandmother and the other my parents had had designed for my grandmother and it was passed on to me. I don't think he ever really thought about the wedding ring's involvement beyond replacing it.

I think people that freak out and try to make it something intentional, or that it somehow reflects how seriously someone takes the marriage, that is ignorant and petty. Some men in particular really don't like/uncomfortable wearing rings and I suspect it would be harder for that type of person to keep track if they do, for example, take them off while washing hands, showering, etc.

I always had a ring holder or some other type of decorative bowl or something that I would put jewelry in usually when I went to bed.

Ever misplaced THE RING

I wore mine for over seven years. When I took it off, it was to signal the end of the marriage. I heard some BS story about HER ring but I suppose it went to a pawn shop. She took it off on the weekends before that 'to meet interesting people' (who she then fvcked). To me the ring and the cross are important symbols. You clearly signal something when you wear it, and I would want my wife to always signal that.
