Posted: 7/19/2009 6:43:24 AM | | It really makes me wonder how often a person's posts come back to haunt them. Sometimes a member's true nature will come out in their posts. Their profile can look pretty good,and then some of their forum posts reveal a completely different personality. | |

Posted: 7/19/2009 10:14:56 AM | When I decide to post to a thread I try to give well thought out answers and avoid being petty or mean. I don't reply to a lot of threads, as most of them are just repeats of threads I've posted to over the years.
I do not pretend to be anyone other than myself, and I will not "suck-up" to anyone in the thread. I absolutely abhor when people do that..I have been openly insulted by other posters, but I refuse to sink to their level and respond in kind. I would actually have to care what their opinion of me was, and also, at the end of the day they're the ones who look like an ass, not me.
I welcome anyone who views my profile to read my posts..I have nothing to hide. I am who I am, and I never pretend to be anything but. But, as I've gotten older, I've also learned to stop and think about things before I react. This has saved many, many arguments from getting out of control, trust me.
Like most though, very few people in my area post in the forums, so it's not much of a concern I guess. Oh, and the fact that I'm not looking kinda takes the edge off too.  | |

I can be snarky too - or sarcastic - the problem is people forget that you cannot always convey true meaning before typed words. As I said in another post - minus the body language and facial expressions it can be difficult to destinquish between someone just being snarky in a lighthearted way to someone just being down right mean. | |

Yes i do....
It says a lot about a person people tend to pay more attention to what they put down when they fill out their profile and not speaking off the cuff.
Just a few things you can learn are
1. what they choose to respond to
(ie what they think important enough to think and write about)
2. how much they pay attention to the topic
(ie if they go off on their own rant about something off topic)
3. are they literate
4. if they are a shallow or a deep thinker
5. what kind of sense of humor they have | |

You definitely described why I usually take a look at their posts. The topics they reply to and their sense of humour are key traits I look for.

The forums here are more entertaining than any television program. It's a constrant parade of funny, pathetic, lewd, intelligent, profound and outrageous comments.
I try to be respectful and helpful not because I worry about how I can come across to potential dates but because I think most people who pose questions are genuinely interested in hearing people's ideas.
Some post forum topics just so they will be flamed back by the women which is also interesting. They make me think they aren't really looking for women to date - but just use forums to put women down because of their own disappointments. Some women vote to keep the topics open just so other women see the guys comments on his profile as a warning. | |

Posted: 7/19/2009 4:30:04 PM | Yeah, I didnt see that till after I started posting. Cuz then I figured I was screwed. When talking about myself, I put myself in a good light, who doesnt? But when I post, and mostly depending on my mood that day, I can be quite the ignorant SOB.
However, I do tell anyone in my profile that I have and will help people from time to time. And I do tell people that I find myself being somewhat comedic.
I personally, don't give a rats behind, cuz I think this whole dating website is one big joke. It doesnt matter if you pay for it or not. its still we todd ed. | |
