| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/9/2009 12:38:15 AM | | BBW is just a euphamism for having more than the average amount of fat on one's frame. Some people find fat people attractive, some do not, but to title it as such is hyperbole. THW (Thin, hot woman), SSG (Skinny, Sexy Girl) etc. aren't used. People are just thin, or skinny, or whatever, BBW just seems so guilty. It is a term that seeks to defend itself or validate itself through itself, before it is even attacked. Rediculous. | |
|
| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/9/2009 6:58:31 AM | | You know I agree. I always felt for the longest time I had to justify myself. But not anymore! In fact, I don't look at myself as fat. I wish the had ABW - athletic beautiful woman. | |

| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/9/2009 7:07:32 AM | | I don't get how the to words got put together...Big and Beautiful......either you are Beautiful or you aren't..what do the two have to do with each other..is it because people when trying to be nice to larger women tell them that they have pretty faces? I see a lot of self described BBW's who are just plain ugly and it has nothing to do with their size....Its is sad when you have to use a category to validate yourself such as describing yourself as beautiful, why is there not average beautiful woman, athletic beautiful woman, a few extra pounds beautiful woman,etc.... beauty is independent of Size....you do not make yourself beautiful by simply describing yourself as such...BBW should be removed as a category...Either you are BEAUTIFUL or you aren't it Doesn't matter what you weigh...... | |

| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/9/2009 7:16:48 AM | | Wish more people thought the way you do. | |

| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/9/2009 11:04:42 AM | | ETOURDI...that I agree with...someone is either pretty or not...and that is all in the eye of the beholder or beerholder in some cases on here. lol But I still will not agree with "BBW and Athletic" lmfao I give anyone credit on losing body fat/weight whatever. Had to do it myself once after an accident, not from years of abusive eating to my body. And I lost it all in about 45 to 60 days.I bust my ass on nutrition and working out..and it is not something I take lightly. Not years and years all drug out. People are what they are and simply need to accept it, work on it and be happy with it. Just because someone shows up to the gym does not make them athletic. I was talking with my training partner about it this morning as a matter of fact, even he said there is a fine line on that, and some people are really, really delusional. Beauty and size are different. And so is being athletic. Why people do not just deal with what they are and fix it is beyond me. | |

Hi Mystie,
If you are trying to lose weight, you need to up the cardio and stop with the heavy lifts. I lift so understand that i will never get tiny doing it, i just have too much muscle. I take comfort in knowing that my bones are strong and that as I get older, my body will hold up better than those who just do cardio. Cardio queens look thinner now but in a few years, that will change as their metabolisms slow and they lose muscle mass.
Actually, over the summer, and reading these forums, has shown me that no matter how much cardio OR weight lifting I do... I will still not be losing weight fast at all. As of last week, I have lost 50 pounds in a year and lost TEN pant sizes. However, through out the year, I have also put on A LOT of muscle. More than I realized. Put on my fall jacket last week and the shoulders were tight. But really.... worse things could happen!! LOL!! ... I have a running joke with myself that I will end up a size six and weigh 200 pounds. Again... worse things could happen.

| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/9/2009 2:06:43 PM | But I still will not agree with "BBW and Athletic"
Really??? Are you slamming? Not cool. Perhaps you never achieved that but just because you didn't, does not mean that it does not happen. It truly depends on what you focus on. Is it cardio or it is strength training?
I compete in my sport and do quite well. I love my sport and train hard. I have never bashed anyone else for getting out there into the game. Half the battle is showing up and if a larger person, male or female, show up to the gym.. that is a start. Your statement only reinforces my opinion of most commercial gyms. They do not work.
Do you know what is incredible? The self-esteem building that I see all the time among women who lift. They get to a point where they are just proud of what they can lift. They are proud of who they are and they no longer look for that validation anymore from skinny women who are cardio queens, who snub their noses at them. These same little women who work with 5 pound weights to bring out a little, bitty muscle on their little, itty bitty arms.
Know what I believe? I believe that the ones who slam us, are delusional. While we're lifting more than our body weight, over our heads in 2 seconds... you are still wrestling with 5 pound weights. The truth is: You don't want to look like me and I don't want to look like you.
I don't have to slam other women to make myself feel better. I don't have to tear them down in hopes that by doing that, I will build myself up.

| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/9/2009 2:42:45 PM | | COCLORADO slamming would be if I said something different than that. So ask me befoe you go "hog wild". If I want to slam someone I would have said a hell of a lot more than I did. And I would simply say it in plain English. And I am not "skinny" nor am I a "cardio queen". Get your comments straight. Commercial gyms , I have never seen a gym say what you are referring to in my entire Athletic career. Show me one, please. Yeah I am really delusional. I bust my ass on diets, supplements, exercise and have my whole life, minus 13 months on crutches. That is really "delusional". Instead of thread hi jacking, just accept not everyone thinks the way you do. Where did you get 5 pound weights from??? Meet me in the gym and the calipers department. | |
|
| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/9/2009 3:10:18 PM | | What does delusional mean to me? A really big woman stuffing herself in a pair of 9/10 jeans, walking down the street with a taco in her hand, and then walking into a Vitamin Store and asking for a fat burner. | |

WOW!! I heard no slam. Calm down. She has a right to post as you or I. Who's not cool here?
I do free weights with my arms 15 and 20 pounds. I don't think that is wimpy for my size. 2 jean 4 jacket.
My discipline is food choice as I gained after a surgery 10 years ago. I knew I would always be a big eater and not someone who works out, so I had to study foods, herbs, healthy fats ect. and how they affect metabolism, blood sugar balance and keep alkaline.
I got it off and have kept it off 6 years now.
I say if I can pinch more than a inch of fat in the middle I need to be more careful .
We all have to find what works for us.
Now be nice. We all have had and have issues with our bodies. When we find what works for us we like to share.

| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/12/2009 7:19:20 AM | I would agree that BBW and Athletic don't go together only in the sense of how the phrase BBW conjures up yet another different image of what a woman looks like. However, this has little to nothing to do with the idea that a girl could be big and strong and athletic. Maybe it would be BABW, Big Athletic Beautiful Woman, or something else. They are all just labels anyways, be it what you want.
Personally, I prefer the big girls who can jack up more weight than I thought they could lift over the ones who struggle with the 5 lb weights or are just at the gym to "tone." Unfortunately for me, they all seem to live in another state. Oh, the irony.

| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/12/2009 9:12:29 AM | And we all want somone beautiful
Man I wish I was beautiful.

|
| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/12/2009 3:16:16 PM | Actually, BBW = a woman who's honest, considerate and unashamed of her size enough to *not* list herself as "average" or "athletic" and waste somebody's time.
So, kudos to the BBWs who list themselves as BBW!
|
| Big and Beautiful Posted: 10/12/2009 5:31:54 PM | | I am athletic and beautiful :) What the luck! | |
