Spent a first date with a guy carrying his gun in my purse. Dated another guy who let me hold his gun on our first date while he explained it all to me. NOW both of these guys were cops so that was no biggie. Methinks they were either lying, or looking for the quick hookup... no decent officer would allow his firearm to be out of his care and control.
That would scare the hell out of me... for a cop to be so irresponsible. And you found two!  | |

I have carried firarms for most of my teens, and all of my adult life due to my job duties. If a off duty cop asks you to carry his weapon, to me thats odd, or for show. When I was "Off Duty" I wasnt armed. How ever where I retired we dont lock our doors at night. In a larger city I could respect that and probably keep a firearm with me at all times. I have seen my fair share of bullet wounds and death. How ever I still like to stay up on my shooting skills. After I feel comfortable enough with a person, shooting together is high up on the list. I guess the key for me is trusting the person. | |

Most people assume that they are going to a firing range if at all on a first date shooter. Then again, maybe it is easier to hide a body in the event there is an "Accident" on private property/rural park area. LOL  | |

Posted: 7/22/2009 5:52:27 AM | I dated a woman once, who on our first date suggested trap shooting. Me being a (non-gang member) city kid, never touched a gun in my life, found it interesting. She brought equipment and shotguns for the both of us. Add on top of that she wore tight jeans and a nice tight top… AND the fact that she was tall (1 1/2 inches taller than me) and lean… holly crap! What guy wouldn’t want that? I learned a lot in the nine months that our relationship lasted.
I dated a NY State Trooper for a couple of months too… never got to see her with a firearm though. :(
Come on, there is a whole industry (film) based on hot looking chicks firing off a crap load of ammo rounds in skimpy outfits. What guy wouldn’t find that exciting?!! | |

I've been a handgunner for some years,and when I take someone out shooting it's been on our family farm using a dugout bank for a backstop and using the light reloads I like to shoot. Every lady that I've taken out has loved it. I got my girlfriend into target shooting,and she regularly attends both rifle and handgun competitions with me as often as possible. | |

Never have shot firearms on a first date, but have on following dates. It's fun, but then again, I was raised around them, so comfortable handling and firing them. | |

Posted: 7/22/2009 3:43:45 PM | I think that a lot of people responding to this are thinking that taking a date "shooting" is some, and excuse the phrase, "back wood" type event. I enjoy shooting skeet, trap and sporting clays. There are several shooting ranges that specialize in these events that are associated with "high end" resorts. The shooting takes place in a controlled setting with golf carts being used to travel between shooting stations. There are nice lodges where you can grab a nice dinner and drains (after shooting, of course). You can even make weekends out of it - shooting, golf, spa, and nice dinners.
So I say - no problem. You can walk in the woods on a nice day and enjoy each other's company. | |

Ooooooohhhh....not a shooting range.
Around here the public park areas designated for shooting are run like shooting ranges.
Unless you go into BLM lands, the desert, or the national forests/parks. But I wouldn't respect someone that let me take them to the middle of nowhere, or deep into the wilderness, for a first date after meeting them online. Guns or no.
I also wouldn't respect anyone that came over to my home for a first date if I met them on the internet.
So shooting guns or not I think trying to get someone alone, out of public, maybe in the wilderness, on the first date/meet is kind of creepy. | |

I have learned to shoot a gun (well various different guns-thanks to a friend of mine) and I never in a million years thought I would enjoy it but I did. So I guess if you think its a good date or not its all about what you like. But just a word of advice if the girl seems a bit nutty or her purse is full of medications -seek the nearest coffee place :). If I asked a guy to go shooting its not because I want a guy to know I own a gun, its merely something I enjoy and want to share with a date. Well that's my opinion and in sticking to it!! | |

Uh,,well the way you put it in your OP, um, yeah id say thats a tad off base. lol I mean, you dont just walk up to a total stranger, say hey, and ask them to go shootin. lolol
If you are chit chatting with someone for a while, you are both mutually feeling 'it', and you both have guns/shooting as a common interest, heck yeah that'd be a great first date! | |
