| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/16/2009 9:24:32 PM | I just went on a shooting date with someone here on POF after only talking with her for about 4 days. She has her own pistols & shotgun likes to shoot skeet etc. there wasn't any problems with either one of us having guns. I asked her if she thought a shooting date would be a good idea for a first meet she didn't have a problem with it. In fact it was her idea.
We could go again as friends but anything else ? it seems she doesn't know the difference between thin, average, athletic, or a few extra pounds when her profile said average!!! I have seen quite a bit of this on POF

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/16/2009 10:54:18 PM | As you can see, there are differing opinions. I shoot, so I would enjoy it. I would only consider asking a guy to go to the range if he had an interest in shooting.
There's always the thought on the way to the range to ask for a little hands on personal instruction.

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/17/2009 7:40:23 AM | I think it would be a blast! Why not? meet there and it is all good. It would be great to do something that doesnt commit to hours on end and also isnt just the same ole meeting for a coffee or drink..this way you are both doing what you enjoy so even if there is no chemistry, you are still doing a hobby you enjoy..(assuming you dont agree to go if you have no interest) | |

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/17/2009 9:04:02 AM | | I think it would be a great date if we went to a shooting range. Not just out in the country or woods somewhere. That is on my list of to dos. | |

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/17/2009 9:08:23 AM | Anyone have thoughts and views on this? Yes. If a woman is going to say ``NO,'' I'd prefer that her options be limited to doing it verbally. | |

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/17/2009 12:55:46 PM | | I live in Canada, so it's not like guns are very common here to begin with, but I would feel very uncomfortable with anyone carrying a gun around me, especially if it's someone I don't know who I am meeting for the first time on a date. | |

Is it me? or is that sort of on the "NO NO" list of things to do on a first date? Years ago I had a first date that included trap shooting. We had a great time. I suck (follow through problem) regardless it was an unusual first date. It must have been OK ~ we dated for about 5 months and then I realized that all the fishing I agreed to do would never get him to one opera ~ end of that story.

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/17/2009 1:09:34 PM | I've been handling guns since I was about 7 years old, so it really wouldn't be a big deal to me if a first date ended up at the shooting range. I would have good laugh if he had to get a 'rental' though! Just let me know ahead of time so I can make sure my gun is clean and I have plenty of target ammo...I'd hate to waste the hollow-points on a target. Just don't get your boxers in a twist if I out shoot you, ok? My ex used to get so upset when my grouping was better than his, he'd be pissy all day after. Shooting is fun, it is a sport, and it is fine if you know the safety rules and the proper way to handle a weapon. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. If you wanted to hurt someone on a first date, their are certainly more subtle ways to do it than at the gun range. Like with a rock....and they're legal. Beth | |

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/17/2009 1:25:15 PM | I got a co2 pellet gun, looks pretty darn real though. Anyhow, I break it out at parties and stuff when everyone is messed up. Half the people freak out when they see it, mainly the chicks, and think I'm the drunk idiot with the gun at the party. I'll hand the gun to someone and say something like "Don't worry, it's not loaded..." then BLAM! I'll intentionally discharge it and act like it just went off accidentally in my hand. Don't worry, it's just releasing harmless co2 gas with no pellet, and I don't point it at anyone. The noise isn't that loud despite being indoors, but loud enough to scare you and fool some people into thinking it's a gun shot. The beauty of this prank is all in how you sell it after it goes off. Make it fly out of your hand and be like "HOLY CRAP!" It really freaks people out. Then you just sit there and die laughing as everyone starts to realize it was just a joke.
But yeah, do that to the chick on your first date.

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/18/2009 2:02:32 PM | | It wasn't my first date, but probably my third or fourth. It was a blast, but then my fingerprints were on the weapons. Had I known the guy was crazy, I would have thought twice. He faked his own death saying he shot himself because we had an argument and he wanted me to feel like I made him end his own life! He was posing as his father and said the cops took the weapons and all his stuff to investigate and rule out foul play. You can imagine I called every police department in the area to offer transparency. Then he flipped that I called the police and fessed up. WACKO! I'll never place my hands on another man's gun unless we're much further along in the relationship (ha ha). | |

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/18/2009 4:55:33 PM | The general rule of the first date is "If anything can be misinterpreted it will be. If anything might look or sound bad it will."
Although I can enjoy this activity, I'd definitely turn it down as a first meet and greet.

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/18/2009 7:35:16 PM | I'd do it, if he seemed to be knowledgeable and responsible and we were going to a public range. I love shootin'! | |

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/18/2009 8:21:41 PM | | I have seen a few women's profiles with pictures of them shooting guns. Doesn't put me off, but it is unusual. | |

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/18/2009 11:57:34 PM | | If the date also involves going to health care town hall meetings with said guns I would consider refraining | |

| Shoot Guns on a first date!! Posted: 8/19/2009 7:30:06 AM | Not exactly a first "date," as another couple we'd just met invited us to a turkey shoot (target shooting, win a frozen turkey).
We show up first, and there are all the good ole boys in their camo and plaid and with their chewing tobacco (how do they do that without many teeth?) and flasks of Kentucky whiskey (yes, guns and booze allowed - hmmm). Our friends show up, and she's in a miniskirt, sexy top, and nice jewelry - and she's the only woman there other than my SO. It's soon clear she knows everyone at the event. Before long, she'd outshot everyone there - using their guns which they let her borrow! - and won 4 turkeys by the end of the event.
I'd shot a little years ago, but this was the first time for my SO, and she had a blast - literally and figuratively. As a first "date," it was quite an experience. I think we'll go again this year with our friends.
