The three things that a man wants in a mate...
(grabbing a bucketfull of popcorn)
oh am gonna enjoy reading the replies and reactions to this one.....
Oh boy! Me too!!! This is gonna be good.
I'll say my piece from a girls perspective: 1.sex 2.intellectual stimulation 3.admiration and support
Gosh! That was hard! I had trouble getting it to just the three (four really). All I really had for the longest time was number 1.

| The three things that a man wants in a mate... Posted: 7/28/2009 9:49:03 PM | Sex is always number one......but even better when you have two and three added to it...........
OT......Why do I have to limit it to three? Did a woman make up this rule????......
What I really want is an equal in every part of that relationship, and that alone will add up to much more then the numbers stated.
Just my opinion........

Sharptack the below is not aimed at you:
The thing I never understand is SO many women on E Harmony & here want a man who is "intelligent" or they want "intellectual stimulation"...but heaven forbid they date me! :D Cause they cannot keep up with my intellectual theories, history, politics, geography, etc, etc. ? I'm not saying that I'm a genius...just that I get so intellectually bored by certain types that ask for "intellectual stimulation."
This is a theory I haven't worked out yet...unless if they run into so many men that are dolts...?

Number two..... A good sense of humor..... somebody who will keep him laughing in good times and bad
Number three... Honesty..... We men need our feet held to the fire whether we admit it or not."
Speak for yourself OP...........what is this cookie cutter one size fits all,by the way what does keeping a mans feet to the fire have to do with honesty on the part of your woman?...........Whats that all about...?

You misunderstand me Wyatt Earp. I am saying what I think men want in a woman! Not what a woman wants in a man! I know it wasn't directed towards me, but it wasn't even what I meant. What I want in a man is: The four I's: 1integrity 2imagination 3intellect 4independence
And he must be Bona Fide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you still feeling so supremely intelligent? Don't worry about it. I'm known to have some blonde roots under this mane of browne locks! But I'm boring you maybe......

You are so welcome Ms. Vernon Hills. Just enjoying the popcorn with the show. Now how about a thread for what women want in a man? Or dare we?

| The three things that a man wants in a mate... Posted: 7/29/2009 2:12:12 AM | Come on folk, who are we kidding?
As a female, in the ideal world I would go for the brightest, best-looking, most financially loaded male who is kind, thoughtful, considerate, wise, efficient, resilient bla bla bla. It is always really hard to crystallize what someone would want in a mate, and that is why checklists never work. Chemistry works simply because chemistry is an intelligent way to determine if you and your prospective partner match. Everything about us gets encoded in our cellular memory and that information is broadcast wherever we go even without us speaking. If someone were to walk into a room full of people who said NOTHING they would still place value judgements on the type of people they would like to date. A male would probably INSTINCTIVELY pick someone who would most closely match his chemical state at that point (his perfect partner) eg if he is sexually driven he will most likely go for a sexually-attractive female and if he is intellectually stimulated he will most likely go for the "smart-looking" female.
I suggest we all relax and let nature do its bidding. Lists have never worked and they will never work, not when you want to get the most out of a partner.

| The three things that a man wants in a mate... Posted: 7/29/2009 4:57:01 AM | OP I am kind woman I never seek to hurt anyone, have a good sense of humour, love to laugh and I am honest to a fault.
A man will always look at my profile and judge me, not by my written word, which describes who I am, but by whether or not he can see himself standing next to me...with his friends.
Highschool antics never leave some men

| The three things that a man wants in a mate... Posted: 7/29/2009 8:20:22 AM | Simplistic question, so here's a simplistic answer: 1) sex 2) affection 3) reciprocation
1 & 2 are obvious. You can't have a romantic adult relationship without sex (you'd just be buddies at that point), and it would be nice if the person you're doing this with on an ongoing basis actually liked you and showed it (and you did the same).
Reciprocation ensures a couple's longevity in my opinion, because that means your partner puts in the same effort you do: you respect them, they respect you back; you take care of them, they do likewise in kind; you sacrifice for them, they do the same when your positions are reversed; and most importantly, if you stay devoted to them, they do the same.
If you can truly say that you and your partner live that philosophy, the two of you will never have anything to worry about in the long run because you'll always tackle it together to the best of your ability. No matter what happens, you will face it together.
