| Is it better to be alone Or settle for someone that is not Your type. Posted: 9/14/2007 11:48:56 PM | | There are plenty of women in my past who wanted me but just weren't my type. Settle? Hell, no. Life is too short and I want to experience real love again someday and be happy and content with whoever I have on my arm. Until then, or perhaps for good, I will be alone. | |

| Is it better to be alone Or settle for someone that is not Your type. Posted: 9/14/2007 11:49:33 PM | I always thought settling was better, because I figured my "ideal woman" only existed in some extravagant, impossible fantasy. And then I met someone who was so frighteningly close to the "ideal woman for me", I really don't see myself ever settling again. The thought of settling is a little repulsive.
So, frankly, I'd rather be alone. JUST in case another one shows up. Even if she doesn't, at least I wont be irritated or miserable because I gave up on The Dream™.

| Is it better to be alone Or settle for someone that is not Your type. Posted: 9/15/2007 2:29:27 AM | I have met many men in my life and have thought some to "not be my type". However, I have made some great friends from those who were "not my type" and I really treasure their friendship. We did fun things together even though the romantic part was not there and those great memories will last forever. I have remained friends with a few of them that were college friends and we still talk sometimes and even see each other if we both are in the same town on business.
As for the relationship side, romance in of primary importance to me. The romance in a relationship invites our hearts to dance; brings music to our soul and seduces our minds.
I think it is very important to be with someone who is "your type". I find I enter into romance with those who I think could be permanent lifetime partners. I expect that we will not be exactly the same, however, there has to be a romantic connection and I am usually a good judge whether there is a possibility based on their personality, actions and conversation.

| Is it better to be alone Or settle for someone that is not Your type. Posted: 9/16/2007 5:31:51 PM | ^ Not only that...
Consider it this way- if you go to Pizza Hut, and they bring you the wrong pizza... you get irritated.
Then they bring you the right pizza.... sometimes you also get to keep the mistake.... but that doesn't mean you wanted it to start with.
Why would you just accept the pizza you didn't want? You wouldn't.
(Note: In the real world, where relationships aren't pizza, taking both pizzas is frowned upon... it is considered poor table manners to try to take both pizzas home. Attempt at your own risk.)

| Is it better to be alone Or settle for someone that is not Your type. Posted: 9/16/2007 6:25:30 PM | alone is not the same as lonely. And while I would love to be in a partnership of equality, haven't quite found it yet and won't settle. AND, since I know what happens when you die at 80, I'm more interested in investigating this life so I can take the info back with me to share with others. And not the info of miserable acceptance. | |

People are not pizzas!! Men and women are not manufactured in pizza shacks...yes that is right about "relationships aren't like pizzas"...so in fact it's a LAME comparison. Women's translation of the above quote: THE GRASS IS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE " rather than anything to do with the current relationship being a mistake. However some people always have a need to blame others for their actions so as to make themselves appear faultless and actions justifed. Games anyone?

| Is it better to be alone Or settle for someone that is not Your type. Posted: 9/16/2007 7:20:09 PM | I'm definitely into being alone.
First, keeping someone around just so that you're not alone is using, plain and simple. You know full well that as soon as something better comes along you'll drop them like a bad habit.
Second, you really might miss out on a special someone who sees you with your Mr./Ms. Right Now, figures you're in a relationship, and does not pursue you out of respect for your relationship.
Lastly, as bad as it is to get dissed by someone you are crazy about, it is far WORSE to get dissed by someone you weren't that interested in in the first place.

people are like pizzas, if your considering the ones you're letting in your bed. (spoken in true Italian tongue) Me, for sure, I'm not taking no pizza without no anchovies, .....IF ......ya know what I mean?
I'm seereuss
I'm unclear why the above manifestiation came about, but I'm open for some deep psychoanalytical discussion.
{b] game on!! | |

| Is it better to be alone Or settle for someone that is not Your type. Posted: 9/16/2007 8:05:12 PM | | It is better to be alone than to settle for someone that is not your type. Otherwise, you are going to be miserable. As well, if you have hope, you will meet that special person in the future--but you must have hope and be strong---and stand alone--if you must. | |

That is okay knight rider , it has been two years , a little far now .
What I seem to hear here , is that most people have had very bad experiences with relationships that were on going and prefer to be alone , fighting and stress , evil deeds abounded and added to unhappiness and disatisfaction ,
sorry , I cannot relate to any kind of tumultuous relationship , my pearents never had any fights or problems that I have known.
sorry for not understanding your delimas , maybe I am a virgin at fighting or serious anger .
Maybe I am too much of an "angel" to understand how you guys feel . I have been treated badly by women , ALOT but not in a relationship setting , when I was treated badly I never ever mean or angry just , respectful and feel hurt inside .
I would rather be with someone because I KNOW how to make things work , maybe I am an odd or weird .
I don't think you are odd or weird. I'm pretty much the same way. My family never could understand why I didn't rant and rave and go into fits of rage over how badly I was treated. I just am a big believer in what comes round goes round. They will eventually "get theirs" in spades, so I don't worry about it. Yes I got hurt, but chose not to dwell there. And, I realize now it is because I was with the wrong ones, so I have decided not to just settle anymore. I may never find the RIGHT one, and that thought makes me sadder than you could possibly know. Still, I have been so alone within the bounds of a relationship in the past, that I vowed never to let it happen again. Nothin could make me more miserable than that did.

Is it better to be alone OR settle for someone that is not your type?
I have found those who are happy with themselves and with their lives(positive self esteem and positive self worth) usually answer that is it better to be alone but those who are lonely single or those with low self esteem and/or self worth will answer usually that it is better to be with someone, even if it is the wrong person.
I think that I would prefer to be alone, even if it meant that at times I was lonely than to be with someone who was not for me, even if that meant I would have compansionship.
I'll wait for love and not settle. It is not good for either party involved.

| Is it better to be alone Or settle for someone that is not Your type. Posted: 9/16/2007 8:29:38 PM | When one becomes in touch with self, you understand what it means to enjoy your own company. I love my solitude, I never settle for something that is not good for me, or something that might hurt someone else. I am never "alone". I have my spirit guide, my higher power, and my family and friends. I am completely comfortable in my own skin. I have a great deal of love to give, and try to spread it around as much as I can.
That is my take on your question OP.

Posted: 9/16/2007 9:30:40 PM | | well,OP, i wouldn't refer to it as "not my type", but i have been alone for 20 years now, because i do not want to be with someone who does not love me and want me. being alone teaches you about yourself, and in a way, builds a confidence in yourself you never knew existed.

It is better to go to heaven alone than go to hell in company.
Better words haven't been spoken ...
I see some of my friends do this. I also see them after a few months going what did I do? Attitude.. Not me I am quite content with my company. To me Relationships are hard enough to keep going, to do it with someone that I just settled for would be a nightmare
