ahhhhhhh the angels were bowling LOL
On the island we saw the light show but no thunder ! ... I SO miss the prairie storms and northern lights,...... nature at it's best!
Last time I recall a massive storm here was about 12 years ago. THAT one shook the place ... my youngest is 9 and he was thrilled and sat on the balcony watching it all. he'd never seen lightning before... just the rare rumble of thunder.

"Finally, a beautiful thunder and lightning storm last night. I miss them so much from the plains of Manitoba that I am willing to pay to see one. "

Ahhhhhh, yes, nothing like a good old booming sound of thunder, and a flash of lightning.

I hear ya, and I am right with ya, when ya talk about those good old booming sounds of thunder, that shakes a whole house, on the Manitoba prairie plains.

Ya, ya gotta just love thos thunder and lightning storms, and where is the best place in BC, to get them.

Well, out here in the Valley for one,, ya may not get the same intensity of it, as we did back home on the Prairie Plains of Manitoba, but, they are pretty good out here.

It messed with my plans totally...was supposed to be at my high school reunion and then meeting Fairy that evening....I missed it all.

We were on the corkscrew at playland when it all started...totally freaky.
They closed down all the rides and we thought we'd wait out......and we got soaked.
Good thing we had already done the Helevator....lightening rod or what???

It seemed like it followed us all the way home, cause this was about 3 hours of it by now....right over our heads the whole way...the kids were scared and so was the driver in front of us...think we were all doing about 30 km...took us an hour and a half to drive home through the deep puddles....then the hail started...road was steaming and the sky red.....only sunshine we could see, was over on the sunshine coast...looked spectacular! (think we got home around midnight or so)

Then yesterday morning the neighbors at my place said they had a rubber dingy out and were sailing the kids down the street...wow...too much fun.....

Mother Nature.

I like a good electrical storm ... but I could do without the humidity that came along with this one.

I love electrical storms for sure! Out here in Ashcroft our storm was absolutely amazing! That was by far the best and the longest show of lightening I have ever seen in my life. It boomed and flashed while the thunder cracked all around. Our storm started before dark and went till dawn. I watched it till 1130 or so. The hail was massive and the rain came down in sheets! Everyone out here who has lived in this area for many years has never seen a storm so intense.
We were on severe thunderstorm watch again yesterday and for today as well. Nothing happened yesterday. I am hoping for later today again though. Just without anymore fires.
It is so bone dry out here in the interior!

Glad you guys enjoyed the show!

Cheers!

^^^^^That's why I kept saying that it NEVER rains in Spence's Bridge,,,all night long. So bad that the Thompson River actually blew out that Sunday. And THAT never happens,,,well,,, I guess,,,,almost never.

Such storms are spectacular to watch, if you can be safe, but the closer you are to the action the higher the risk of harm.

I was once caught riding on a motorcycle on a mountain top when a storm broke loose, and lightning was striking the mountain not far from me. It was a most uncomfortable predicament, esp. as I was the tallest thing on the mountain, with a metal fuel tank nearly full of gasoline between my legs.

Fortunately there were some big boulders near by so I parked the bike next to one and ran over to another and crouched down so I was shorter than the boulder. It was the best solution I could think of.

Then the hail stones pelted down on me. I saw a few more thunderbolts hit the mountain before the storm moved on. Yeah, it was exciting drama to behold, but it wasn't fun at all.

I absolutely adore them. The one a couple of days ago was awesome. Dark orange sky, purplish white lightning, booming thunder. Gorgeous.

Today an Ontario woman and two children were struck by lightning.... and they were about 2 miles from the thunder cloud.

The 26-year-old mother is in serious but stable condition at that hospital. The two children have been sent to the Hospital for Sick Children. They are in critical condition, Const. Jodi Dawson of Peel police told ctvtoronto.ca early Wednesday evening.

However, Sunday saw spectacular lightning over the GTA.

Tragically, a Huron County woman died that day following a lightning strike at the beach in Port Franks, which is north of Sarnia in Ontario's far southwest. She had taken shelter under a rubber dinghy with a man and a dog. The man suffered minor injuries, but the dog also died.
About 10 people die in Canada die as a result of lightning strikes, with an additional 160 injured, according to Environment Canada.
