I've had cats off and on all my life...
I like a clean house and I will not tolerate a 'dirty' cat... (Cat owners will know what I mean by that... ) My current cat is the cleanest animal I have ever seen...

(Side note: Ever see what dogs do with feces?)

Now then if cleanliness is your worry, look up on the internet about dust mites, dead skin cells, and the weight gain that mattresses and pillows get due solely to humans...
In truth, if your mattress is more than a couple of years old, you're probably lying in disgusting filth every night... Then think about hotel beds... couches, used furniture and used clothing... There's a lot more out ther o worry about than a cat...

The mentally ill will brag about all sorts of "compassionate attachment" to animals ... be they the domestic variety or exotic wildlife. Their mental state won't allow for distinction between the two.

Any peabrain can flip through an animal encyclopedia and rattle off all the "fashionable" critters they'll rescue if only they had the resources. But realistically ... there's a BIG difference between domestic rescue cats and a 5 ton elephant or 50 foot whale. And no ... having the money to pay someone else to rescue them for you ... doesn't make YOU compassionate. Real animal rescue requires knowledge and true dedication ... not "fly-by-night-when-it's-convenient dedication".

It's very easy to ramble on-and-on about rescuing large animals when no one will call them out on their boasting. This is just another twist on PR stunts. If they were challenged to make good on their bragging rights, such individuals will fold faster than a poker player at a card game.

This is all just an attempt (albeit disguised) at deceiving people about how "compassionate and caring" they are ... when their true intent is to draw attention to themselves using animal rescue as the smoke-screen. All we have to do is look for overuse of the words "I", "me" and "my" in their obvious self-promoting rant. Phoney altruism is very easy to spot. Genuine altruism is much harder to see by virtue that the quality is a quiet reserve ... rather than fanfare trumpeting of ... "look at me, I'm compassionate because I rescue cats and I need to be praised for it".

I'm really not sure what you're on about, padawan, except that you seem to be awfully passionate about... whatever it is. You also seem to be randomly attacking all sorts of very different areas of people.

You're claiming to know that the 'real' motive behind someone wanting to rescue non-domesticated animals is to draw attention to him/herself....

Got any proof to back that up?

There might be some truth to that and I will explain why. First of all, cats are nocturnal. They sleep all day while you're at work or your running around on your day off doing errands. They sleep, sleep, sleep undisturbed by you. Well, when it finally comes your time to sleep, then they just walk all over your face; chew on all the chords in the house; and if you close your door they beat that down with their paws becuase you closed it on them. If this is done over a long period of time, it is bound to make anymore go crazy and give anyone a mental illness! HELP, Im house sitting some cats! PLEASE CALL AUTHORITIES! IM GOING MAAAAD gahahahahaha *cries*

Please tell them I havent slept for days, Im hallucinating and I need help. I have bags under my eyes and they just wont leave me alone. Its not fair.

I would be questioning the mental health of the person who posted the question. Are they so insecure to be threatened by a few cats? Truly sad person who begrudges someone a pet or two.

Funny, because while I agree with the 'nocturnal' part of course, mine are indoor/outdoor... yeah, as soon as it gets 'dusky' (later these days of course being summer, but around 8-9pm) they are up and being 'pests' - and then they get what they want, which is to be let *outside* where they can go do their thing, hunt and catch mice, explore, etc.

Then they're usually meowing outside my window around 6am to be let back in. They make great alarm clocks.

If I go to bed at 10pm my cats will settle for the night. I have no problem sleeping because of them. BUT...if I stay up after 10 pm, they will play for several hours after.
The college students make much more noise at night, than my cats do. Maybe that is why my cats don't bother me. Their noise is pale compared to screaming, cars beeping, beer bottles smashing and vomitting, that I hear outside.

That statement resonates with me as well. When I retire for the evening around 10 pm all 6 of my cats retire as well..I don't hear a PEEP out of them until my alarm sounds around 6 am. Then my manx jumps on my bed meowing and the rest of them stretch, yawn and sashay into the kitchen for breakfast. They are so well behaved and trained to be 'quiet' between the hours of 10 and 6 am as I've raised most of them from kittenhood to have 'kitty manners'. lol Anyone that stays over is equally amazed they are so quiet throughout the night. It's the people that stay over that are the noisest.

Growing up I always had a dog in the house. I always wanted a cat. When I moved out I adopted a cat, Macchiato, and everything was perfect. She was a little lonely but other than that everything was great. My friend was breaking up with her husband and asked if I could take one of her cats..well she asked about another one but I said no. I knew Macchiato was lonely so I gave it a trial basis. They weren't sure about each other at first, but now they are the best of friends. When Macchiato was by herself she wanted to scratch everything in sight because she was bored. She only did it when I was in the room as if to show me that she could. Now, she has all but stopped the scratching and now she plays with the other cat for entertainment. The cats are pretty self sufficient as long as you feed them, keep fresh water around and of course clean their litter box on a regular basis. I don't feel so guilty leaving for work and school for long periods of time because I knew they can hang out together. I am not lonely. I am way too busy to be lonely. I work full time and go to school full time so really the cats live in the apartment, I just sleep there. They dont bother me when I sleep..they sleep together in the other room not my bedroom. I will not get another cat, as in three because I think that's overboard for me but I don't see the problem giving Macchiato a friend when I'm not around. The only way I would have another dog is if I lived in a house, and had a big backyard for the dog to play in otherwise I won't be adopting any more animals. I'm done.

Invest in a stable 5' cat tree. My cats love to shoot up it when hyper.

depends on the cats and how they talk about them, if the conv ends up been all about there cats, i would definitely steer clear of that, same if she has quite alot of cats 5-6+

and yes a man would be considered crazy if he had tons of cats, that is unless the cats happen to be lions or tigers, then he just be really cool.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Having 6 cats myself, I'm not mentally unstable but if I couldn't take care of them then my friends and family would step in and question my mental state. They don't and never have. I would be more concerned with people that collect inanimate objects and live their lives around their collections rather than women/men that happen to love cats. Or dogs. They're the ones that live in a fantasy world..literally. All you have to do is ask them how many dates they've had in the last 4 or 5 years and the answer will undoubtly be 'none.' In the last 4 or 5 years I've had a ton of dates and a few long-term relationships to boot!

I'll agree having 6 cats is a challenge but I wouldn't have taken on that challenge if I didn't think I could take care of my animals properly. Two of them were dropped at my door and the other four I've had for a very long time. I've only had one or two men that I've dated make negative comments about my cats and when they did I kicked em' to the curb. We all have choices and I choose to not date anyone that doesn't realize my cats are part of my family and will be around a lot longer than they will if they have an attitude about me owning them.
