Gods Word tells us that angels are sent to us, sometimes in human form.. do they fall into the ET category?... there are also other rebellious angels who can appear as animals, clones of people that we know and ~perhaps~ as ETs... the whole matter of other life forms visiting us, outside of angels, brings out other questions like "can the other worlds visit us while we are in rebellion??"... "does the bible cover this topic somewhere??"... "is it a salvational issue and will it warrant spending much time on??"... my thoughts have obviously drifted here b4 yet I can say only very little with confidence and clarity on this issue... Posted: 7/29/2009 7:52:40 AM | | the likelyhood that we will ever make contact with other intelligent life is so infinently small as to be rediculous. think of the times and distances involved in the universe. ceti is listening for radio transmissions which travel at the speed of light. so even if we did pick up a sign of intelligence out there, those radio waves will have taken millions if not billions of years just to get here. very unlikely that a species would survive that long so we got the transmission too late to even reply. and the universe has existed for more than thirteed billion years but we've only had radio technology for little more than a century. somebody could have been trying to ring us up a thousand years ago but got a busy signal so they pointed their anttenae someplace else in the sky. of course they were probably extinct a thousand years ago anyway. we'll never have contact with other life on distant star systems. count on it. | |

I agree, THEY are among us. The key is to OUT the aliens, quit the hallucinogens, and say "we're mad as hell, and we're not going to take it anymore!". But then there's "the fire next time" to deal with. Beers at the White House might be in order to come to terms with them and at last find universal peace. | |

Almost like it is a game to see how often they can take a peek, and then anticipate when we are going to almost see them, so that they hide in time.
I thought I saw the crown of a grey head once. And heard a "way too excited" giggling.

I imagine if a being not of the earth was aware of us, they would also be aware that we are essentially primitive to them and not yet ready to meet them. They would study us from afar but would not attempt contact until they felt we were ready to receive it. | |

Some reptilian specimens actually retain this eye, smack in the middle of the other two, filled with the same compositional material as a 'real eye'; albeit - under the surface of the scales/skin.
In humans it has receded, and is the pineal gland. Reacts to light and dark (has something to do with sleep and wake cycles).
Many ancient texts include instructions - for the 'opening' of same. Tibetan texts tell of rituals where the eye is forced open by ramming a piece of petrified wood splinter into the area where it used to be. | |

The fundamental pattern observed is that serum concentrations of melatonin are low during the daylight hours, and increase to a peak during the dark.
It is more retained in some amphibians and reptiles so that they can control the secretions of melatonin with the mechanism used to change the color of their skin. This is how the substance was discovered.
Arrogance has nothing to do with trying to decide if there are other life forms in other universes. Until we discover them (or they us), it is thought that there are none. | |

What if we are the only ones like us in this universe? If you think about it no animal existing can walk up to us shake our hand and join us in a conversation about the molecular structure of gold. Compared to the billions/trillions of extinct and living life forms, humans are the only ones to have come this far as to be able to leave this planet. Maybe what makes humans so special is incredibly rare in this universe and other life forms possessing this specialness is at the other end of this universe still figuring out how to leave their solar system.
We only have our earth to look at when it comes to life and we still don't know the link between consciousness and life. So the only way to determine if ET is out there is to look at Earth. Looking at Earth what I see is that in its entire history there has only been one sentient being. And over the proposed 10,000 years of its existence it has gotten to a point where it can even disturb nature willfully. The odds that others like us exist is very slim especially when you consider that at certain delicate stages of its existence it's likely that they might utterly destroy themselves (fortunately we humans aren't extinct and hopefully never). I cannot say that ET does not exist but it's probable that they do not.
If however we do make that link between consciousness and life we may find out that they were happily going about their business waiting until we humans notice them and wave back. Which begs the question, If life more alien than anything we have ever observed lands on this planet, would we recognize them? | |

Looking at Earth what I see is that in its entire history there has only been one sentient being.
But the earth is only about 4.5 billion years old. The universe, on the other hand, is about three times as old (approx. 13.7 billion years). What if there are many other stellar systems that formed at almost the same time as ours... but a mere 0.1% sooner than our solar system did. That would give its potential inhabitants a 13.7 million year "head start" on us in their development! Think of the possibilities...  | |

True but that's one part of the equation. Factor in the probability that they will go extinct, then factor in the probability for the conditions to be correct for life to start, then factor in the possibility for a solar system to be just right for its planets, then factor in the probability for sentient organisms to evolve, and soon things start to look more improbable.
Like the Fermi paradox puts it "If extraterrestrial aliens are common, why aren't they obvious?" (conspiracy theories, ufo's and the like lack evidence to prove that they are common) | |
