I was talking to this guy I who contacted me and we agreed to meet for a coffee in the evening after I got off work. When we met, something seemed really off about him, it made me uneasy. There is a large park nearby and he insisted we go for a walk through it. Keep in mind, at this time it was dark and beginning to get a bit late. The park is known for violence and other bad stuff happening at night, especially to women who venture by themselves. Since I barely knew this guy, I said no, we could go for a walk but not through a deserted park at night. He grew very offended, kept saying he wanted to go to the park to 'show me something'. I decided to leave, and he practically begged me to let him drive me home. At this point I was incredibly creeped out and called a cab instead. He tried to contact me several times after that but I didn't respond.
What did he want to show u? His knife? LOl. I don't care if it was a bad park at nightime or not-if a guy wanted me to walk through a deserted park so he could "show me something" I'd be showing him my foot up his arse, lol
The last date I had on here went pretty smoothly-he was really funny and we had good conversation. I had decided I didn't want to see him again though, because I just didn't feel that "spark" and thought we'd be better off as friends. A couple of days later, he sends me an instant message and asks me if I wanted to go to some sort of party where couples sit around having sex...I blocked him after that, lol.
Oh how I wish we could post user names on here-I know someone from my area every female should definitely be warned about, but I am not risking taking a trip to Ban Camp by posting his user name on here. | |

Posted: 11/6/2009 5:00:15 PM | I'm not quite sure how these forums work so this is more of a post then a reply ... I'm from Canada and I think I win the worst POF date (there have been a few bad ones but this is the crown jewel) ....
I had been texting this guy from POF back and forth for about a week or so, when he msged me to meet him at a local pub for a drink. When I arrived he was already drunk and within a few minutes after my arrival he realized he had lost his phone.... to which he responded by accusing this guy beside him, yelling at him and causing a huge scene in the bar. Then he tried to fight with the guy INSIDE the bar. At this point I stepped in between them and he started to yell at me and accuse me of stealing his phone. He then took the guys phone and my purse ( rifled through my purse) and refused to give them back to us until we gave back his phone which we didn't have ( it turned out that his friend had stolen it - he had the balls to text me the next day and tell me this) ... Long story short, the cops were called, I was questioned (and then cleared obviously) and finally my purse was returned so I could leave...
There have been a few more close to that, but that truly is my best..... A great representation of canadian men eh? | |

Posted: 11/7/2009 6:42:03 PM | simple... I'm an idiot sometimes or maybe a glutton for punishment or too eagar to make others happy ..... whatever the reasons I'm learning how to be bold and just leave (without viewing it as being rude - its more out of respect for myself that I walk away) ...
Also, a date was late by 45mins and when he arrived he told me that he was late because he lost track of time while he was doing word puzzles on the shitter (impressive eh?) .... Once again, I should of not waited that long and once he said that I should of gotten up and walked away... but I was too kind and stayed for coffee.... all the while shaking my head inside wondering how the hell I pick'em so good....
But for every bad date, there is a good date and valuable lessons learned from all.... | |

I have only had one or two nightmare 'first meets' both of them I ended immediately. One guy was smelly. Other one was a psycho. Not things you can tell from phone convos. *sigh*
To the gal above... I don't see anything wrong with leaving early. You don't owe them anything. If someone doesn't have the courtesy to shower or get the psychiatric help they need, not your problem and you don't have to tolerate it. I don't even stick around for dates that are 10 min late and who didn't call to say they would be late. | |

After a few phone conversations, agreed to meet the man in a restaurant. He was already seated when I arrived, and I noticed that he didn't have any legs. Hmm. Was it appropriate for me to mention this, or not? Should I just pretend that I wasn't shocked? I did say something, as tactfully as I could, since I was afraid that my expression had probably been pretty dramatic. He immediately started viciously berating me for my superficiality, in a very loud voice.
I politely excused myself and left.

1) they're a player (apparently there is actually a clinical addiction in which people of lower self esteem use online sites and chat sites to meet and hook up with sexual partners.... this apparently gives them some sense of self control and empowerment they don't get in real life)..... I wish i could remember where i read that.....
2) married or in a commited relationship
3) emotionally unstable and unwilling to further explore the depth of the feelings you two shred (aka scared)
4) or maybe awaiting your call, thinking the same thing (that is if you didn't call ) | |

There are some real seasoned players on this site. Their game: act like they are looking for a relationship but use it as a cover when that's not at all what they want, it's all about sex. Just very skilled at telling women what they think they want to hear, perhaps pathological. Nothing wrong with wanting sex, it's just about being upfront about it and stating intentions clearly. However, there are a few nice guys on here as well, it's just sorting through the players, pretenders and liars.

Diff site and a long time ago:
I talked to this girl in IMs and the phone for a week or so, everything seemed fine. So we agreed to meet for dinner. I was sitting in the parking lot and she calls to tell me she'll be there in a second. I see her pull in and she parks in the handicapped spot. I think to myself 'OK, maybe she's just an a-hole" lol. So I walk over and she has crutches with the elbow supports. Apparently she had CP or something. I'm not superficial but I feel like she should have told me. I feel really awful now and I guess it showed. She said "Oh I guess I should have said something huh?" I tell her it would have been nice. She asked if I wanted to leave or we could still have dinner as friends. I opted to eat. She turned out to be pretty funny but very forward. She actually started hitting on the waiter half way through. I left after dinner and never heard from her again. I didn't pursue it obviously. I did feel bad, I'd hate to hurt someones feelings.
Not a horrible date like some of the ones I've read in this thread, but definitely the oddest and most awkward.
I've had the usual fake pics, etc. I always try to make the best of the situation and not hurt feelings. | |
