Hey? Was Woodstock known as a "canadian" thing? Gawd, showing my high intelect here! Nope. Woodstock was in upstate New York at some old dude's farm. Sorry, Jr. Alzheimers is setting in and I can't remember his name. Actually, right about now is the 40th anniversary of that very famous folk fest or should I say "toke fest"! The Canadian equivalent of Woodstock was Mosport and it was held in the general area of Oshawa. Again, the name of the exact location escapes me. Anybody want to jump in with this info?
Then let's remember Yorkville also known as "the Village". That was the Canadian equivalent of Haight/Ashbury. I dun did have some good times down there from what this l'il ole hippie can remember.
Let's also add in Gordon Lightfoot, Ian and Sylvia and Joni Mitchell .
WOW! Talk about a trip down memory lane, eh?

How bout ice fishin? All suited up in our warmest winter garb including our woolies...campin out in a lil wood leantoo on the ice. Beer kept right in the water of our fishin hole! Oh wait? Don't forget moose huntin and deer huntin! Yeahaw! I remember when I used to live way up north in Timmins, they would hunt moose. When they caught one, they would behead the dayumed thing, strap the head to their trucks an drive round town. Poor moose head right up front, tongue hangin out. Too gross for words!!!

Aside from Pam Anderson and Tim Horton, there have been plenty of famous Canadians. Can I send you over Bare Naked Ladies......or Jim Carrey? ( Now, there's a funny guy!) Canadians are smart too. The AM radio was invented by Marconi The telephone by Alexander Graham Bell Trivial Pursuit by Chris Haney and Scott Abbot And we can't forget the trusty zipper...........yep invented by another Canadian Gideon Sundback
Another little known legend........Save a horse, ride a cowboy and eat timbits.......what a way to go EH?!

He's actually more popular (among folkies) now than when he was alive. An amazing songwriter, many people (including me) are still singing his songs.
Oh..and Ann Murray was Canadian as well.

Woodstock was in upstate New York at some old dude's farm.
Max Yasgur.
another Canadian talent wrote a song about it:
I'm goin' down to Yasgur's farm, gonna join a rock n' roll band, Think I'll camp out on the land, try and set my soul free

Anyone here get stuck trying to hitchhike out of Salmon Arm? Uhh, no. I can understand wanting to get out of Salmon Arm but why would anyone be wanting to go into Salmon Arm in the first place? What am I missing here? Should I be fueling up the car and heading out on a road trip to beautiful downtown Salmon Arm?

the Sault was a terrible place to hitchhike out of. when i lived there for a year in 1970, there were always sad folks stuck out on the transcanada....not that it's so bad in the summer, but still.

Back in the hippy days, Salmon Arm was known as hitchhiker neverland. Basically it is a main intersection on the trans-Canada, where people would get dropped off if your ride was going the other way. Consequently there were tens or upwards of a hundred hitchhikers there all the time. I got stuck there for a couple of days once. It was kind of a hitchhiker community of tents and parties. It was a lot of fun. People from all over the world would get stuck there.
