Motherwell, 5 games played, still unbeaten, drew 0-0 with Rangers today, missed the game, by all accounts a cracker, shame about the penalty miss/save.

Anyway, back to a serious football league.....

The Manchester derby had an interesting ending for a third game in a row, only this time, we were back to Alex's famous stopwatch - United are losing in the 93rd minute, but his watch shows 20 minutes left!

I missed the game live, as we got to the pub jst as Cheski/Spurs were kicking off, but the banter was all about the United winner coming about three days into injury-time. I suspect that watching it in 'real-time' would have led people to the conclusion that the ref played far too many minutes, but The Times today showed how he actually cut it short by 30 seconds....

Excellent results put Leeds top of a league for the first time since.....this century? Sorry that BHA lost to a last-gasp effort from The Shrimpers, but at least they are still out of 'the drop zone'.

Leeds host Liverpoo later today in the League Cup. Loking forward to it, as we are in a 'win-win' situation - if Liverpoo can't beat 3rd division rubbish.......Don't care about the result, but it would be nice to win.

Motherwell are still unbeaten, no seriously. This time tomorrow it may all be very very different, but so far, I'm really enjoying this season's football.

Yeah good luck to Leeds tomorrow, would be nice to see them knock out a team two divisions up. Always nice when the underdog knocks out a bigger team.

I'm expecting a tough game from Terry Butchers ICT tomorrow at Fir Park, not going to be easy and Motherwell have a kamikaze cup reputation as it is.

I'm also keeping an eye on Jim Gannon's Stockport in that very same serious football league, a few Stockport supporters made the trip up for the Motherwell-Rangers game and they liked it so much, they're even thinking of coming back up.

I think its a disgrace how the big 4 teams are always favoured so much by referees.

How often have we seen Man Utd win games late on due to generous amounts of injury time?

I don't know where this official managed to find 4 mins as the 2nd half had no major injuries

Never mind the extra almost 3 mins which resulted in Owens wining goal!

This was the same referee that Fergie had complained about in last seasons cup semi.

A coincidence?

Maybe I'm just upset as West Ham lost again to LiverSpain although we did play well!

I'm still a bit cheesed off with the referee in Sundays Manchester derby. My boss wasn't too plesaed either. I was actually late for work Monday morning due to the fact the ref played so much injury time !

That aside though.... It was a great game and will live long in the memory. I think the blues will sustain a serious challenge for a top four place this season.

Aside from the fact that Match of the day accounted for all this time, surely either team could have scored the winning goal? In fact as City had just equalised you could argue the momentum was with them...

i think the carling cup is back on the agenda of something to win now, i could never see the appeal of not winning it and the joke teams people used to put out. With football there arent enough trophies to go around and winning that cup will at least bide managers time.

I think arsenal, man city etc would take winning it now....... the weird thing is the team of kids arsenal play in the competition always look better than their first team... cant figure that out!!

We should have too much fire power for you tonight ZG but good to see a rocking night back at elland road.

Happens up here with the Old Firm. Ruins the game. Totally.

Yet another late late show from Motherwell tonight, last minute of injury time. Ross Forbes winner 119th minute. Never expected it to be anything less than a battle against Butchers side.

Motherwell probably haven't gone 6 games unbeaten in a row since 1922

Good result for St Johnstone beating Hibs, Aberdeen and Killie also out

Fergie was crapping his pants all through that derby game. OK so they beat us but we are used to it, but we [roved that we are no pushover anymore and after that and the arsenal game people are starting to take notice.

P.S what was with gary neville dancing around like a fairy for, oh i forgot abouut his contribution to the match he probably threw the coin at garrido

gary neville is the most annoying overrated player there is, anyone with a dad called neville neville has to be a loser. Cant stand the fella, also a couple of years ago he ran along the touchline against liverpool after they scored in the last minute against us, nothing done.... lets see what happens to adebayor???? wouldnt p*ss on the fella if he was on fire.

Well the FA have decided not to take action against either Gary Neville
for his over the top celebration or against Craig Bellamy for pushing that Man Utd fan.
They are both to be let off with a warning!

BTW...Ryan Giggs has just scored to put Man Utd 5-3 ahead in the Manchester Derby.
Its seems the 4th official still had some more time to be added on!

I can't remember the last time I was so pleased at a Leeds defeat!

We played an excellent game, and kept the score down to a single goal.

I'm annoyed that a perfectly good goal was disallowed for offside when neither Leeds player was, and that Mascherano got away with his elbow to Beckford's neck. At that point, the score was level, and anything could have happened.

Still, there were times when it was difficult to spot which of the two teams was two divisions below the other, and Liverpoo brought on local thug Steven Gerrard for the last few minutes to bolster their midfield.

I hope that the MK Dons 'enjoyed' how Leeds played......we're coming to get ya!

Indeed Mr Gary, your boys played well. As you know i'm a Liverpool fan. I knew this would be a tough game when i saw the draw. And although they are 2 divisions below us they are a more than capable side, especially this season so far.

Did you by chance see the game? If so you would have seen Mr Mascherano explain via the medium of dance that young Beckford was to blame by seemingly getting his pirouette wrong and falling clumsily onto Masch's elbow, throat first.

Former Tottenham and Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has quit Notts County after only one game, having agreed a £40,000-a-week deal at the end of August....

Is that the shortest signing in history ????

I am sure David Unsworth only lasted a week at Aston Villa, after being transferred from West Ham, cause the mrs "couldn't settle in birmingham"..... he was then sold on to Everton....

mind you... anyone who like birmingham deserves a blue peter badge..... it might not be hell, but you can sure see it from there......

MSG 144.

Yes, Mr W, I know you're a fan of the hated Reds, and thanks for your comment. Even Carragher said to The Times that Leeds gave them the hardest test this season so far...

As for Mascherano, his antics after the incident were a disgrace, and did not match his actions.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVJ57dXslo4

Only one arm was raised - the one he planted into the nape of Beckford's neck, and there was no other contact between the two players, so Mascherano couldn't claim to be challenging for the ball. Apparently, the ref is taking no further action, but the video clearly shows it, and I cannot understand why Mascherano isn't on a charge.

As for Sol Campbell, he's been there for a month or so, so it doesn't qualify as the 'shortest' signing....didn't Clive Allen beat that one summer?

Glad to see the return of Joe Cole! He's one of my favourite players, and an important part of our World Cup effort...

Burnley's amazing Premiership story reaches a critical stage next month with three home games against Birmingham, Wigan and Hull plus a long awaited trip to B'stards to look forward too. Every possibility we could be holding a top six place by the time Bonfire night comes around.

Come on you Clarets ......
