I can't speak for all men, but I think that might be a myopic view of what the allure is to watching porn.
It's not a fixation on the "woman" per se, but the act itself.
Living vicariously through the performers.
There's the voyeurism component to porn. Very similar to making love and watching yourselves in the mirror or videotaping yourselves. | |

There's something seriously wrong with folks that will watch someone get disemboweled on a monster sized projected screen but go bonkers over something like porn. I also find it ridiculous for someone to turn away their partner for porn, I'm wondering what porn it is they are watching though, that's gotta be some good stuff. | |

OK- so Darcy is riding his big stallion (clip clop clip clop) and meets Lady Jane on her mare,they go for a ride together (cloppity clop cloppity clop) and they are talking in a very erudite restrained manner about which family they will banish from t' Mill and whose children would it be best to starve to death.
Jane has the Princess scene going in her head "I COULD be Lady of of t' Mill, and we could have lovely obscenely rich babies" etc
D'arcy is actually thinking- "Boy I love the way her tits jiggle up and down- I might hang back so I can check out her rump."
Cut to the end of the film- After many arguments, black moody scenes, disagreements etc, Darcy is just about ready to outdo even Rogerius his huge Black Stallion in the thumper stakes, and CUT/THE END/SHOWS OVER FOLKS!!! Demmit - what happens to Lady Jane? Does she marry D'arcy and the mill? Does she run off with Rogerius the huge black stallion and become Czarina of Russia? Details, man, details!!! P.S. and I would have taken this off the forums, but bloody Americans are not permitted to message the author - clearly due to our lack of class and love for cheap pornos.
This exact situation is why everyone watches porn (or should start) - lack of meaningful resolution :D Seriously, now I must haunt the forums looking for a strange Englishman, hoping to catch his d*mn eye, just so I can find out what happened to a highly fictional character the author has already forgotten about.

Posted: 8/2/2009 11:14:56 PM | Hey that made me laugh because it is so true...this is def Mars and Venus stuff....but having said that, as a woman gets older, in my experience, the 'wants' shift a little...now I wouldn' t mind 10 men licking me from head to toe....some things just become less important as life goes on...sex gets better as you get older for instance...and I have to admit I check out internet porn from time to time...it is fantasy, but I think women may look deeper, so to speak, and at what may be happening behind the scenes, the practicalities of being a porn star, and how many times a day these women do what they do....I guess it would become a mundane as washing up the dishes etc....it turns me on tho... | |

Scientific answer:
Guys are more easily stimulated by visual imagry than girls. This is not to say that visual images do not stimulate girls. Just that guys find erotic images more arousing. See there is a part of the brain called the limbic system. This controls basic desires - when to sleep, hunger, feeling cold vs hot and physical arousal. When I guy is exposed to erotic images, it triggers this part of his brain to elavate levels of arousal. In fact, using this principle, police can actually determine if a guy is a pedophile if he get easily aroused while viewing child porn. - seriously!
The next thing to understand is that not all guys like porn. Some infact do not like it for moral or what ever other reasons.

Realistically no. Most guys will always check out other women and its often a subconscious thing that they are not even paying attention to. Women who often have issues with men checking out other girls experience jealousy.
Jealously can have several psychological implications. When it comes to feeling jealous when your man looks at another girl the jealousy is actually related to subconscious issues with personal self esteem. I'm not joking either. Just try to realize that when guys check out other girls, it doesn't mean he's remotely going to run off with some other hussy. Besides most girls still check out other men and if men get jealous about that it often means they have a deeply rooted issue with self esteem!  | |

That is not to say that women do not use it, but simply that men are the main customers of this "pleasure technology." Why men? It may not come surprise, but research suggests that most men are more interested in sex that most women are. More men than women masturbate, and they do so frequently. More men experiance orgasms, and do so more consistently. Some scientists believe that these differences have a biological basics. Evolutionary psychologists argue that ancestral men, to spread their genes, had much to gain from having sex with as many women as possible. In contrast, given the biological limitations on the number of children women could have and raise, they would benefit from being selective choosing mates with the genes. Thus, men evolved a sexual pyschology that makes sex with new women exciting both to imagine and to engage in, and this made men especially responsive to visual signals of sex. Does this mean that women are responsive to porn? Not exactly. Or better it depend. I also found that during mastubation, men tend to fantasize visually while women generally don't do so. This does not mean, however, that porn does not elicit sexual arousal in women. Women almost invariantly show pysical signs of sexual excitement to porn movies, as indicated by increased vaginal blood flow. Or why some like, or develop a liking for, more extreme forms porn. Many men report having sexual fantasies that incorporate some element of coercion. And so do women. While many people are likely to lose their sexual interest as well as their ability to became sexually aroused when they feel bad, others are still able to function sexually, and may use sex to regulate their mood, to feel better, even if it is only for a brief period of time. I believe that this paradoxical increase in sexual interest and activity in some people when they feel bad may not only be important to expaining why (or when) people use porn, it may also increase our understanding of the causes of compulsive, or "addictive," apatterns of sexuality.
