From my perspective when a man uses the word virile, he is referring to the fact that can get and maintain an erection and has a active libido.
Your 'perspective' notwithstanding, given that the word means many things and intelligent men know that, you may find that your self-professed 'virile' guy has ED because he was referring to one of the other meanings.
The arousal level of many men (similarly to women) depends strongly on how attractive the partner is People who aren't just functioning with the nether regions find attractiveness in personality, character, talent in the bedroom, etc. If only beautiful people were considered attractive enough for sex, the worlds' population would be a whole lot smaller.

| ED in some form or another Posted: 8/8/2009 12:09:10 PM | | Its not by default that when a man turns 50 he'll suffer some sort of ED ... I never dated anyone in their 50's so maybe I'm living in denial too. | |

| ED in some form or another Posted: 8/13/2009 12:02:30 AM | | You know, I would rather date a man who was a great lover with his hands, his mouth, and his heart, than a man who does not suffer from ED and thinks he is God's gift to you. | |

| ED in some form or another Posted: 8/13/2009 9:43:15 AM | Since ED (in EITHER form--TWO forms-?) is related to vascular health and blood circulation, the writing's on the wall:
Fellas, let's get our HEARTS beating fast! I ride bicycle at least 50 miles a week, and, at age 44, happily, so far, have no problems with ED. Nothing like a fast-beating heart, a good sweat and breathing heavily lots of fresh air to get the blood racing down to that "vital" area.
Give me an hour to rest, though, milady, after a 25+ mile ride, before we have sex lol.

| ED in some form or another Posted: 8/13/2009 11:30:52 AM | | Thanks in part to Lance Armstrong, scientists are now seriously studying bike riding and the impact on the male genetalia. You might want to read the Colorado study and if you aren't using a specially designed bike seat, consider changing. I have known several men, strong riders since we were children who suffered impotency, ed, and now testicular cancer. Their doctors all consider the bike riding to be the main culprit. All are in their mid 40's to early 50's and they still are riding, just using the spongy wonder seat now. | |

| ED in some form or another Posted: 8/13/2009 11:51:27 AM | Did you mean that ED stands for erectile dysfunction? IF it's YES, it means a man is difficult to get or maintain an erection for sex because of no enough blood to flow. There may be three forms of ED. Some men aren’t able to get an erection at all; some others can get one, but it’s not enough for sex; and some other others get a hard one but lose it before or during sex... | |

Go right to the source and ask the horse He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse. He's always on a steady course. Talk to Mister ED.

Many men feel numbness in their groin after a long bike ride. This is a sign that the bicycle seat might be affecting their reproductive health or sexual function.
About five percent of men who ride bikes intensively have developed severe to moderate erectile dysfunction. But that number may be much higher. More men may be too embarrassed to talk about it or don't think cycling has anything to do with their problem.

just thought you might want to know. Of course, I don't consider 50 m/w all that intense, so you're probably safe.

| ED in some form or another Posted: 8/13/2009 11:39:28 PM | question.....
could the poor perception of how old one really looks be one of the side effects of erectile disfunction.....or merely a sign of gross vanity.
maybe the eyesight isn't what it used to be..... aha.....this could be an age related failing. not ed.
of course! not ed. | |

You can always tell a single woman the TV is usually located in their bedroom.

Thanks catsmeow. You said this so well. The thought of being called matronly was most repulsive to me. Maybe in another 20 years I'll consider the idea of becoming matronly. grins.

| ED in some form or another Posted: 8/14/2009 9:13:53 AM | | Bike seat leading to ED and testicular cancer. Funny, I read that too. I must admit, after a long ride, it takes me about an hour to get it up (could just be cardio exhuastion too). I'll look into a softer seat, thanks! The benefits of bike-riding far outweigh the negatives. | |
