Liverpool 1 -villa 3 .. discuss that lol
3 points out of nine and tenth place .. discuss that too while you're at it
it puts a smile on my face and the world smiles back
I never expected that last night!
Liverpool only lost 2 league games all last season and still didn't win the title
Now they have lost twice from their opening three games and are in complete disarray!
Tottenham lead the table after picking up 9 points from their 3 games played so far.
Who would have predicted that?!

| The Premier League Discussion Thread 2009/10 Posted: 8/25/2009 6:10:51 AM | I watched the game on ESPN last night and Villa deserved their win but the thing that startled me most was the performance of Liverpool at Anfield, their heads dropped far to early and never seemed comfortable or happy and their was no resilience or steel to them.
I wouldn't worry about two defeats if they were playing well and were unlucky but they deserved to lose to Spurs and Villa and that is when you have to worry, they need some steely performances and quickly.
Spurs have started and playing well, When watching the game against the Hammers at the weekend they showed a graphic of their second team and it showed a lot of strength of depth and 'arry is doing an exceptional job and with their buying young and selling at a profit policy I don't believe they have spent much money.
Burnley the surprise though so far, wins against Everton and Man U, however you expect that it will go the way of hull of last year and they will start brightly then falter and struggle in the second half of the season and I still expext them to be relegated.

| The Premier League Discussion Thread 2009/10 Posted: 8/25/2009 3:16:28 PM | I would. Droppin 6 points now probably means they have no chance of winning the title? Manchester United won the Premiership and the champions league in the 2007/8 season, their first 3 results of the season included 2 draws and a defeat to your Man City so only had 1 point compared to Liverpools 3. The season isn't over by a long chalk and it is important how they respond as if they respond as they did during the game with Villa it will be a long season but if they respond like they did last year by accumulating 22 points from losing positions and showing their mettle they will be ok.
It looks like the ugly side of football is back with large scale crowd trouble after and during the match between West ham and Millwall. The MET have said that they feel the incidents after the game are large and significant and probably prearranged. The trouble in the ground wasn't terrible and did seem like a lot of jostling and pitch invasions, which is bad enough but could be worse and lets hope the trouble outside the ground is also no more than male posturing.

True. You can never rite MUFC off, however it is great when they get beat off newly promoted teams like Burnley.

See my post (4). As a Liverpool fan i have already said this. I closely followed all of our pre-season games and we were very poor. I have, and always will question Benitez's decisions in both team selection and in the transfer market. It is daft to say our Season is over though. Man Utd dropped a few points early on last Season and still won the Title. While i don't see Liverpool capable of doing the same,i do realise that football is a funny game and absolutely anything can happen. I also stated that Tottenham will do well this year.

| The Premier League Discussion Thread 2009/10 Posted: 8/26/2009 7:30:42 AM | | im a liverpool fan and i think we believed the hype last year and have gone with the attitude that they dont need to work to get the performances like last year. I think one thing about this year is alot more of the evertons, villas etc will pick up points off the big clubs.... its not over but its not looking clever.... we are crying out for another world class striker. | |

| The Premier League Discussion Thread 2009/10 Posted: 8/27/2009 8:59:07 PM | Looks like our prospective new chairman (Pompey) has finally decided to take the plunge....and actually go through with the deal....
And, it also looks like some incoming players..
We're really looking forward to our first point now....Should be a double celebration what with Christmas an all....
|
| The Premier League Discussion Thread 2009/10 Posted: 8/27/2009 11:00:17 PM | No-one ever lost the title in August!
Even though Liverpool's current form (3 from 9) suggests a mid-table finish, the reality is that they'll be in the top three soon and at the end of the season....hope I'm wrong, though!

| The Premier League Discussion Thread 2009/10 Posted: 10/17/2009 7:15:54 AM | | oooo get in there against chavski, deserved the game after a blatent penalty was ignored. but almost cried when friedal done a howler to go behind. thank god to our 2 centre halfs who both had an excellent game and with a goal each. from what ive seen so far dunne is the new laursen, gets goals and heads everything in site. dont know why citeh got rid of him, but thank you very much lol | |

| The Premier League Discussion Thread 2009/10 Posted: 10/17/2009 12:37:34 PM | | villa's midfield still looks a bit week going to be close with spurs to see who finishes in the top 6. good result today though cant see chelsea winning the league after today think its going to be a straight fight between man utd, arsenal, and city. | |

| The Premier League Discussion Thread 2009/10 Posted: 10/17/2009 1:39:34 PM | i think thats the plan, for it to be a bit weak and encourages the opposition on to us, then just hit them on the counter. not many teams can deal with gabby, ash and milner in terms of pace. the big man carew aint exactly a slouch either considering his size lol i like the way our club is going as got the youth and now experience in a nice mix, as brad, dunne, petrov, and carew the spine of the team and with players on the bench such as reo coker, delph, luke young, davies and gardner. we are a lot stronger then last year and can see us putting in more of a challenge to the top 4.
dont forget wait till the superstars have to play in december and jan on a bitter night, sorts the men from the wannabes
