Just a bit tired of the negativity.
Here goes...

Romby Bryant and Arjei Franklin. Romby is the equivent of a one hit wonder in the CFL. One good year followed by ziltch. Terrence Edwards is still managing a good year despite the QB issues. So, I don't accept that it is the Qbs alone that is the reason that he is so bad this year. Plus his attitude in the locker room. He is known as quiet when the team is winning, but depressive and moapy all around when they are losing. It's pretty obvious his last game he did not want to be here.
Arjei ? Good speed but not so much the hands and his EQ for football is only so-so. We won out on this one. One of the new receivers is a huge raw Canadian kid, and the D lineman will help the pressure on the QB... a LOT.

Then trading the Canadian D linemen for a backup QB? Well, we need a better QB, and Canadian D linemen are a dime a dozen. The QB was highly rated by the Bombers 2-3 years ago when he was on the Al's negotiation list.

Simpson? What would you do with a guy who, granted is a GREAT football player, but takes offense to being swapped out and not playing the entire game because of his foot injury. Ok, he was one of the best LB's on the field, but take a rest when the coaches are trying to look out for your better interests... and the teams' better interest... to pull an egocentric self-centered move like that? (a healthy Simpson is better than a 80% Simpson - the coaches know that).
Then to be sulking and saying 'trade me', when he doesn't agree with being sat? What is that? Then being asked back into the fold and saying he'd rather sit? Why? Because he let his ego get in the way! Then making some pretty negative comments to the new players about the team? Apparently one of the palyers told Kelly to get him out of the room or he 'will take' care of him'. You don't need a poisoned attitude when the team is struggling. Not a team players' move there by Simpson - more of a hurt ego coming to the forefront. Sports teams need confidence with some ego (you have to think you are good), but again, to put yourself ahead of the team? I hope Simpson can see that some day.

The Bombers are still a better team than last years version. Thankfully the DB's are good this year, and the defense isn't too bad either. QB's could be better (understatement), but the same people who were B****ing about Glen are the same ones who are complaining about the QB's now. You can't have it both ways.
And, anyone who says Reinbold was a better coach (and person) than Kelly is on crack and can't recall how bad Reinbold was.

And the local 'news'papers. OMG ! They are just like the National Enquirer now. One of the columists was on Kelly after the first game and hasn't let up since. I don't by that paper anymore. I'd rather listen to Bob Irving on the radio - at least he is fair in his comments, good or bad!

And coaching doesn't make the player turn the ball over 8 times like they did in Sask., nor does it make Romby drop the ball and give away another one because he isn't hungry enough. Coaching is trying to solve the problem by requesting that the GM makes some player moves. Plus, the GM (or 'Player Personnel 'guy) has some responsibility with the players the Bombers get and currently have.

We are almost where we were last year at this point. If we are 3-7 (or 8) at this point next year, I'll jump on the bandwagon... if there is any room left.

There! Said it. Still a fan - always a fan.

TYK - my comments about Kelly were not related to his bald head. While I do think that some bald men are quite attractive, bald men do not make me loose my sense of reason. Way 2 funny!

I am a bomber fan who is tired of the head coach and the players being blamed for all the problems. Does the head coach and players make mistakes, absolutely, but, I believe the the "higher bees" as you describe then, are responsible for more of the problems. The problems that I sense, stem from a terrible environment, upper management not knowing what they want and continually changing their mind about what they want and how the coach and players are to deliver it. These problems have not been only with this year's head coach/players - its been going on year after year, with numerous staff changes. When Milt S. was playing the game was wrapped around him - tsk tsk he is gone and what - the team was reduced to rubble...............Other teams have been able to keep coaches and players, by providing a good environment. I believe the environment your "higher bees" provides, sux big time - otherwise players would not be wanting to be traded, would be fully participating instead of just waiting for their contracts to be up. Each of us has worked with someone or a group of people who make life miserable in the workplace, just because they can.................so, my thoughts are that the bomber management are in this group.

Last weekend's bomber game was just plain fugly and it totally reflected how the bombers have no desire to play good ball. Can it get any worse?

Wow!! A Bombers Win!!
Just good enough to keep the faithful interested.

Keep The Faith ! Get Rid of The Kelly! ...And Bauer!

Actually we would better off with getting rid of Bauer for now!

I was reading an article in the Calgary Herald last week which described the fiasco with Simpson. .....I just shake my head in disgust at Bomber Org.....
Tell me? Anyone? Why would you dump a premium player on the 9 game injury list.....which the CFL league had to step in and overturn...(how embarrassing!)....then do whatever you can to ruin the player's character in public(sound a little like Armstrong?eh!) , so that the team could littel to nothing for a trade.

Thats like taking a valuable car and puposely smashing it into a telephone pole before you try the sell it! Its Insanity!

And THAT is NOT Kelly's call! Kelly can ruin the team on the field....its the Org. that ruins it off the field!

And look at Bryant....drops the ball a number times before he is traded....Went from a about 800 yards last year at this point to a bit over 200 yards recieving....goes to Calgary and with only a week of practice starts making catches.

If they wanted to dump everyone except Brown....and start with a completely new team....why not have cut everyone rather than pull this crap?

On a positive point....they got a win.....they could even make a run for the playoffs....but they had better get thier act together off field....because there isn't anyone left from the old team they can blame anymore. Mind you the way things are going, I would be suprised they trade Brown for a future draft pick.....if THAT HAPPENED would you march upon Sun Centre??

Narkle - good post and I agree with you.

The bombers last game certainly was a pleasant surprise. They came to play at the opening kick off...................definitely a positive step forward. The game itself was not as thrilling as other games in the league, but it was exciting to see plays completed, field goals between the uprights, touchdowns and a winning score. Not sure what prompted the improvement, but it was nice to see. I am still of the opinion that Kelly and the other coaches are competent. I hope the bombers continue to improve and win, as I was not too impressed with the previous efforts the bombers executed in their determination to win the honors of being last place in the league.

Well they won again! DTC is welcomed back with open arms by all....well maybe not all .
Whats freakin crazy is that what Kelly has created may actually be team ready to congeal and meld together at season end.

They most certainly will split with Montreal (they don't even have to play Cavellero) .
They better beat BC in Winnipeg or else!!

By my calculations they are in the playoffs ...and there anything can happen...WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?

But there are signs of good football decisions FINALLY taking shape. Da Baron is back! All sorry for his outburst and forgiven! Who would have thought?

Those of you think that they "softened" in the second half....however....are missing the real problem.....That actually was nothing much to worry about....Hamilton and Glenn , are a good team....better than the gifts they gave the Bombers in the first half....The Bomber defence came back and did what they had to do.

BUT !! BUT!! What everyone seems to overlook is what will like destroy this team as their opposition gets tougher. Can you guess?
What do you think was the scariest thing about the Bombers on Monday? Lets see how observant you are?

It was the way the second half ended! They could have put the game away...not once...but twice.....I just shook my head...stupid! stupid! stupid! The type of idiotic things I have seen Bishop do over and over again....

He looks so brilliant ...and then.....throws not once but TWICE...interceptions into double and triple coverage in the end zone ...when they only needed a field goal to make it a 4 scores up on the Ti Cats...

Maybe Kelly can rein him in....so many have tried before....but Bishop did show control in the second half enough to score more points...albeit the Bombers were beat in the second half.
Kelly!! Just keep the team focused on their performance on the field, and maybe I may have to eat all my earlier words about you.

42 years old...Westwood is.
Not played in a very long time, did he.
Yet he did not try, he DID!
And he did fairly respectfully.

It was a heck of a good game on Saturday. I started listening to it leaving work right at the time the Bombers scored their second TD right at the end of the 2nd quarter. It was a great game to listen to for the ride home. I especially liked Jovon Johnson's punt return touchdown, and Johnson's comment on the news that he ran about 180 yards for a 78 yard return.

Westwood did a pretty good job at punting, considering the rust. In Saturday's paper it was said that Kelly expected him to have a 40 yd average, and his average was actually just over 38 yards. I had to laugh at an interview with Westwood on CJOB where he said that Kelly text messaged him to see if he wanted to play, and he texted a "colorful" reply back because he thought Kelly was just joking with him.

Well that was brutal...I really didn't expect them to win, but I had at least thought they'd put up a fight. The offense did NOTHING in the first half and 1 play at the beginning of the second half. The defense was 'ok' but still weren't on their A game as far as I'm concerned. Serna was good and Westwood...was much improved.

Even more brutal was Coach Kelly's comments to Bob Irving on the Post-game show...total lack of class and respect.

I'm pretty sure he'll be outta here at season's end...I had hopes for Kelly, but he's about to go in the Reinbold folder.

I have been trying to get some info on the repercussions after the game....but out here getting nothing or my timing sucks.....fill me in on the Kelly's comments.
Frankly however, the guy has taken the team farther than I expected....and I hardly thou8ght they would win.....next week is the tell-all game.
Hey don't be down after just the one game....take a look at what Hamilton did to Sask last weekend too...Riders were (particularily Durant) had their heads else where....
Is it a coinsidence that all the games next week except for one has drama and exceptional meaning for 6 of the 8 teams....good for the league...maybe even too orchestrated

Well the short of it, courtesy of the Winnipeg Free Press...
Kelly took offence to speculation by football analyst Mitch Zalnasky that maybe the Bombers weren't focused on the Als because they were thinking ahead to Sunday's home game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, which will determine if the Bombers make the playoffs.

Kelly angrily told Zalnasky and veteran play-by-play man Bob Irving that his players were focused on the Als and it was "just media bullshit talking about anything else." He then made a couple more comments and hung up.

There was some more to it, but that's the general gist of it. I guess the CFL didn't care for it much either as they fined him $2,000.

In all honesty, I didn't think they'd win in Montreal either, but I thought they'd at least show up and play and I didn't see that effort from them.

It's do or die on Sunday...stranger things have happened...Calgary was 8-10 in 2001 and beat the heavily favored Bombers

7 or 8 weeks ago they were 3 and 8. It's nice to see them having a game that matters at the end of the season. Win they are in - lose they are out. If they lose then it simply means that Hamilton was the better team. I'd like to think the Bombers can prove otherwise. We'll see I guess.

(Fingers crossed!)

Yah but... to win the cup they will need a lot of horseshoes.

Kelly seems quite raw as a manager. Maybe training would help.

BIG horseshoes!!

The thing with Kelly is that I want to like the guy cause I like his passion for the game. He makes it pretty hard to do though when he spews off at fans and the media. Even at his last press conference where he 'kind of' apologized for his outburst, he still takes a cheap shot at CJOB's color guy, saying that he's got no right to comment on players effort when he's not out there at practice. None of those guys ever questioned the teams effort.

I think unless he pulls out a miracle and can win the Grey Cup, he'll be gone at the end of the season (or in the off-season).

heard the paraphrasing about what Coach Kelly said on the news. Hmmmm.....could I fault him for being frustrated, saying things in frustrating, or feeling under attack since he became head coach of the Bombers? I would say "NO", I think he is just human like the rest of us and I have said things when emotions were running high in me and later wished those words never rolled out of my mouth. He did apologize in the media for what he said, which is unlike many others who have acted in the same manner. If I was the coach I would be very upset at the loss to the Al's after the last 2 wins.

The other posters have it right and everthing is up to what the Bombers do in their next game. I am hoping they get their "groove" back and play like the professionals they are. I also hope the coaches do a better job of steering the ship, so to speak.

I agree that the last game was terrible. Unlike others in this thread, I hope Coach Kelly will remain in his position next year. The last 2 wins shows exactly what the Bombers are capable of doing and maybe some (including me) were a bit hasty in critizing some of the decisions Kelly made. This last game just stunk of bad coaching and bad playing by many on the team, and cost us a win.

IMO Kelly made coaching errors midway in the first quarter when he saw some of the players struggling and that the team was lacking the dominance they had in the previous games. Kelly should have subsituted the players who were having a bad day and used the second string and bench warming players. Everyone can have a off day, and the coach should be making better use of all the players and giving others on the team a chance to do better than a first string player who is having an off day.

When the line could not protect Bishop, some of the players should have been replaced and/or the formations that were not working should have been changed. I see it this way - if a key will not fit into a lock and you have others on your key ring - try a different key for a different result.

Bishop was missing his mark on a lot of plays and should have been replaced in the first quarter and made to practice some throws on the sidelines to see if his accuracy would improve. Nothing against Bishop he was just having a bad day.

Troy Westwood - now why did Kelly bring him back, as he was a hot/cold kicker, and I was glad to see him leave/retire/whatever. I am not happy that he was allowed to practice on the field, at the expense of putting points on the scoreboard. What was that silly looking running kick he kept trying to make? As I watched it, all I could relate it to was the Peanuts cartoon where Lucy is holding the football for Charlie Brown and then pulled it away just as he was going to connect with the ball. I have no idea why Kelly pulled Serna who started the game by putting points on the board and replaced him with Westwood who failed miserably at trying to put points on the scoreboard. Not a good coaching choice.

What was up with the receivers not being able to hold onto the balls Bishop was able to get to them? Some of the receivers were catching the football like girls who would not bring the ball close to their body in fear of getting their clothes dirty. Add that to bad throwing when Bishop called a play and instead of seeing who was open - would just toss it at the receiver who was in a crowd with 2 or 3 opposing players and not see another receiver less than 5' away who was in the clear. This should not of been happening.

Lets hope the team gets it together for the next game......................GO BOMBERS.....Go Big or pack for your end of season vacation while the rest of the country watches the playoffs and Grey Cup Game.

Start with you Hay! Serna was pulled...? was I sleeping? Serna is the Field Goal kicker....he needs to focus on that...and he needs to stay healthy....Westwood punted admirably and kicking on the run is very...very hard....and I felt he did alright. Once I think he might have run for a1st down instead of punting...but it is ALWAYS high risk and I am not on the field watching 250 lb defenders coming at me.

Kelly ! Kelly! I have to admit the guy may not be as bad of coach as i first thought . BUT HOLY!! The guy is bad for public exposure! HEY!! Show you have a proven record....PROVE you got great coaching talent THEN if you must give people attitude. But frankly the dude has NOT paid his dues...so he should get over himself about how he "stands up" for his players.

How righteous it is that the QB (Glenn) that was "too bad" for him to keep for an unproven rookie(Lafors) maybe instrumental in ousting the Bombers. However, ironically, its come down to the question that often concerned both Saskatchewan and Toronto in years past: WHich Bishop will show up?? The absolutely phenomenal one or the absolutely terrible one? There is no in between.....and his history shows that when it comes to important games the latter one shows up.

For me I love the Bomber team and dislike Kelly! And I Like Glenn and feel disgust at the Hamilton team.....so I am forced in supporting THE BLUE TEAM
....make it to the BLUE OUT my friends!! I would be there if I could.
I just keep my fingers crossed that its not the BLEW OUT!

OK this is it!!! Its do or out for the season.
With the Riders in first , how sweet it would be to see the B.C. Lions and Wally Boner- head out of the play offs.

Go Bombers !!! Fight and win your way all the way to the Grey Cup!!!
