Posted: 8/12/2009 2:32:39 PM | I used to be really bad at taking a compliment. My ex was really bad at giving any, my best friend on the other hand is.
My response is say "I'll take that as a compliment" sometimes I say it outloud and other times to myself.
Who doesn't want to be told they look nice, beautiful whatever.
Just remind yourself compliments are good when both given and recieved. | |

"I know." 
Seriously, just politely thank him. If he starts profusely complimenting you, warn him he's only allowed to compliment you twice a day. | |

We have all met those that we just seem to have that attraction to, in such a way, that we find it moving us internally, as well as externally, and we just find them to be awesome looking!!!!
Accept it, enjoy it, and if you feel the same, do him and yourself a favor, and say it back...........<img src=http://www.plentyoffish.com/smiles/icon_201.gif border=0>
I always find it to be an "extra" if the one I am with, IS beautiful enough that I must let her know that, and that we seem to be developing chemistry that far surpasses that beauty alone.

OT.........One can find another in many different places, and should not exclude that potential, just because they are on one path, while you might be on another.......without having the foresight to see if they just might "merge" up ahead......

I always respond with a "Thank you" and occasionally with "Yeah I know!" or something sarcastic.
The only time my (now ex) husband said to me "You are so beautiful" I knew he meant it with all his heart and soul.. he had tears in his eyes, and that was the first, last, & only time I ever seen him cry! It was moments after our first son was born... I don't think I responded at all!! Mind you I was also in excruciating pain!
But I'll never forget his voice and the way he looked. It was a truly beautiful moment.. too bad it lasted all of a moment.
I do believe now, 20 years later that many men say things like this for many reasons...
you don't know exactly what is in his head when he says and does these things and you'll need to get to know him better to find out. Some men just tell girls they are beautiful because they think it's what they're supposed to do, some say it because they like the way it makes the girl react, some say it because they think all girls are beautiful and beautiful isn't a special remark to them at all and for others, yes, it means something.
I think this ^^ is wisely put.
So get used to graciously accepting compliments! And allow yourself to believe them by acknowledging with a sincere thank you, and return them when you feel comfortable doing so.
A forced/ fake one is always recognizable.

it really is a high compliment for a guy to give a girl/ I've told losts of girls they were hot or sexy. hey good looking
I've only ever used the words beautifull or pretty with 2 girls. both times I was head over heels. so takes it as a good sign | |

Compliments are compliments. Too many all at once can evoke the "alright I get it already," response, despite the best of intentions. But if your immediate response to a compliment is "why?" then there are some underlying issues you need to check.

I would just take it slow don't push the relative thing yet first you two have to get to know each other.
It is nice to meet someone that can be verbal isn't it maybe you have found someone that speaks your language. | |

And it's not as if he said he loves you or proposed to you...he just gave you a simple compliment. When someone gives you a compliment, smile with gratitude and move on! :-D
You can also return a compliment if you're feeling it. :D | |

Have met a guy online, we were chatting for a few weeks before we met. We have been on 3 dates and 4th is planned, we have also made plans for October. Last Saturday was our 3rd date and we spent 9 hours togethers, only 2 hrs of those was in the cinema not chatting. The other times we have met about 4 hours each and we were chatting non stop.
After our third date, he called me beautiful via text and and have said it a few times since then via text and chatting online. Just wondering how to respond to this? I just say thanks. Was a bit shocked at this, as no-one has ever said this to me before. He already lent me CDS to listen to. We haven't kissed on lips yet or held hands but we have kissed on cheek and had 2 long hugs as I was leaving Sat, he also blew me a kiss good bye. I think that he is interested in me, but am just wondering if we are exclusive or are still dating (neither of us are seeing anyone else). I really like this guy and I think he likes me, his housemates and his parents want to meet me and my parents want to meet him too. I know its early days. Theres so much I still want to find out about him and to spend time with him.
Any advice is appreciated?
