Favourites & Last 5 Forum Posts being removed from profiles

Umm ya, I was suggesting a link, On a profile that would bring you to thier forum history. Not one you would add yourself..Understand??

Of course, and as the likelihood of such a link being added is indeterminable – if others don't have their history URL on their profile: The options remain to search via user-name to see what/if they've posted, and/or find their last 25 posts, and/or saving it to the favorites notepad or a browser folder. The difference between these options and your suggestion is that these options are a current reality.

I'm so glad the last 5 forum posts have disappeared. That being said, you should give people the option of showing their posts in their profile or not. What irritated me before was that I couldn't choose whether my posts appeared or not.

Let's remember that some of us are here for dating first, and we don't want our participation in the fora to interfere with that. For some people, there's no way to have frank discussions on the fora when you know all your posts are appearing on your profile. Besides the links to the posts are just aesthetically bad.

On the other hand, if the posts enhance a person's profile, then give them the option of allowing them to appear

I dont get it either. I liked seeing how many people added me as a favorite and now that it's removed I am not able to know when someone new listed me as a favorite. If I new posting 5 forums would stop any other applications then I would not had bothered posting a forum at all. It would be great if this was corrected. Thanks!

able to know when someone new listed me as a favorite

So turn on the notification feature in your Mail Settings - you will be notified on a daily basis, of the first 3 new people that add you.

What other applications are you referring to? - your last 5 forum posts were only available on your profile.

personally I liked seeing how many favorites someone has.....the more favorites a person has usually means the likelihood of receiving a reply to a note I might write is a lot less. Not always true, but true more often than not.

Better late to the party than never arriving.....

The removal of "Number of Favorites" & "Rate My Pic" has resulted in a drastic reduction of contacts for me.

I agree, the Last 5 Forum Posts showed a lot in a persons profile. How they interact and react to other people.

The removal of "Number of Favorites" on the bottom is a great loss. It would allow you to:

: Gauge the last time someone was logged on.... someone with not too many or Zero favorites, chances are, are new or someone that has not logged on for a while.

: If some girl had 500 favorites, it is a clue she is on here for attention. I am more attracted to the girl next door as opposed to the girl which has a line around the block.

: As far as MY own "favorites number" listed, it was great to look at a glance if you have been removed, someone deleted their account or if added, I knew I had caught someones eye, I would look and then react if necessary. After 3 you don't receive a notice, heck sometimes I don't get a notice at all because my ISP considers POF spam!

The removal of "Rate my Picture" is a shame, it was a great way to meet women, even if just friends or exchanging hello's.

So I have to say, Favorties was removed, but, "Number of Roses" is left there? LOL!

The bottom line is Admin is the boss. He will deem what comes and goes. Also the site is free. Since the site is free, Admin here at POF, needs to keep traffic on his server moving for the lowest cost and keep the value of the site (its worth) maximized. From an Admin (myself), as Admin you have to decide how much if any input you will get from your end users.

For the end user, there are a lot of free dating sites these days, so there is no reason to complain. Enjoy the site or go elsewhere.

In closing, there can never be enough thanks and praises for Moderators giving their time.

Best of luck to everyone and their future endeavors.

I am thrilled favs count was removed just because of people like you that make a ton of ridiculous assumptions based on that number, and very little you said is remotely true.

The removal of "Number of Favorites" on the bottom is a great loss. It would allow you to:

: Gauge the last time someone was logged on.... someone with not too many or Zero favorites, chances are, are new or someone that has not logged on for a while.

completly wrong on both counts. A cute new gal can be on a ton of favs in a matter of hours. If they have zero favs I would assume she is removing herself from others favs list as many did if she was very cute.

And favs have NOTHING to do with when anyone last logged on what so ever. This is simply untrue.

: If some girl had 500 favorites, it is a clue she is on here for attention

No that probably means she is really cute. Cute girls or gals that post in the forums are on a lot of favorites. Doesnt mean anyone was seeking attention. Do you also assume that all beautiful women are seeking attention? No they are just gorgeous and it comes their way naturaly without them seeking it trust me.

Favs count meant NOTHING at all. You could not assume anything close to what you were for either those with low counts or high counts.

Which again is WHY I am thrilled it was removed. Because people like you had so many ridiculous misconceptions about what that number meant!

As far as MY own "favorites number" listed, it was great to look at a glance if you have been removed, someone deleted their account or if added, I knew I had caught someones eye, I would look and then react if necessary
Again the number meant nothing. If you only had a few that had you on favorites then it is just as easy to go check your favorites page to get the same info. I didnt look at my own profile so I didn't watch my favorites numbers change like you. Because I knew the number meant nothing at all.

I think in general people that were not on many fav's had way way overblown idea's of how important that number was and watched their number intently as they had some weird idea of it being important. People that were on a lot of favorites paid no attention at all as they knew it meant nothing at all, as they never even heard from most the people that had added them.

This thread was where people aired out THEIR ideas and position of this topic. I am sorry you don't agree with me, but as a Moderator, you should have a little more tact when presenting your opinion or pointing out where I may be wrong, instead of coming across being hostile.

Trust me, neither one of us will lose any sleep over this tonight, but you are representing this site, you never know who is reading this, whether it be the media, an advertiser or anyone else.

Thank you for your contribution as Moderator on this site which I do enjoy using. I appreciate it. Have a great weekend.
