I would suggest having your new SO help handle a LOT of this. Let him learn your way of thinking about his animal EXPERIENTIALLY. It will bring you closer

Thanks Ron and Smiling Salmon... SS don't fear getting a dog, sighhhhh it is hard to deal with that end stage, but all the times before have you either smiling, or wanting to ripe your hair out....

She seems to be responding to the antibiotics, even though she has nearly taken off my fingers giving the meds to her... She is eating a little, which will help her if she is going to heal..

I don't hold my breath, just make sure to give her the meds to see if she has just a bit more of life in her that I don't short her of....

Yes Ron, the greatly increased intake of water is very bad, that is one of the questions they asked about my girl...

SS small fish can get attached to humans as well... Even if it is just knowing you are the one who brings them food... However some can take interest in those outside of the tank, and if they do they are really amusing...

Thanks onekind, my husband was never raised around pets, so he has a hard time knowing how to deal with things, and in particular the pain of the death or impeding death causes... The other day he said dogs do nothing but eat, pee and poop... So sad that he doesn't know just how much love they give, how much willingness they have to care for their owner...

I couldn't list all the GOOD things she did... YES she had her bad habits, and did things that one would wish she didn't have as a habit, but it really is all about learning...

We have the pup, so this time he will get to see that once she gets out of the peeing and pooping stage, that she too will bring a love in the house that can be missing....

I am just taking things one day at a time, and will see... At the moment she's sick but stabilizing....

Thank you all... I do know that the end will come no matter what time I buy for her.... Sighhhh for now it is a wait and see....

^^^^ Seeing as your S/O has no experience with owning a dog, and you had earlier mentioned the "tearing up" that a dog can, and will do ... maybe with this pup - professional obedience training? Not only to spare your belongings, but to spare any hair he may not appreciate having to rip out when this pup starts teaching him the canine ropes ...lol.
