| A gay President...interesting topic, what is your opinion? Posted: 8/29/2009 7:38:19 AM | | Really, Then how do you explain Obama getting elected with so little relevant experience? I truly think people vote with their emotions a lot more than with their rational side. We elect people that make us feel good by what they say and what they promise they are going to do even though we know that most of the things they say are BS. | |

If people would notice I said Most usually. I do believe that the last election was quite unusual in the partial vetting and inspection of the candidates. Some were over vetted while one was barely vetted at all, especially by some major media people. Interestingly the same media people who over vetted the other candidates, barely looked at the slate Obama brought to the table. In the last election there was a large section of the media that gave Obama a free ride on his background and experience while digging exceedingly deep into the other candidates' personal background and experience.. JMHO

It's easy to be cool in his shoes....he's already where he tried to get.A lot like the joke about why the bride is often[please note morons, often not always]smiling as she walks down the aisle. She knows she'll never has to give a blow-job again. Let's remember that a lot of the Obama followers were first time voters,KIDS,with no experience themselves and motivated by U-tube and the Obama girl.Mostly in school owning nothing and never having been employed or being responsible for anything other than Saturdays beer money.Yeah.....they were an easy mark..... I'd be cool as a cucumber if I had pulled that one off too.
Hey...SA....ever figure out who Peabody is yet??

JMHO Looks like having a gay President might depend quite a bit on the media and how they treat and vet that person. That is really bad when one looks back and sees how much our media infuences who we are and how we think, especially the younger generation.

B!tch please How is this in anyway relevant, being cool has nothing to do with relevant experience. I agree with the poster who stated that it all depends how on board the media is with having a Gay President.

Of course. The media is going to go where the story is. Obama's background and personal life isn't as interesting as Sarah Palin. She was an enigma to the international community.

I must agree with most and conclude I almost answered my daughter correctly....some extra detail was probably needed, but I still passed the test....
Have a great day. | |

Yes. I was going to say hypocritical drug-addled bigoted shock jock really, but ...same effect was certainly conveyed.
And yes folks...we have two losing answers in a row.....the man you seem to be referring to was not endorsed by the republican candidate at large.Obama did go out of his way to influence the youth vote.People he knew already had nothing to lose since they never had contributed anything to begin with.No jobs at risk,no property that was owned,no business' at risk.Your comparison is then a moot point and actually funny in how that was what you concluded.I wanna play poker with both of you....soooon!!!
And SA.....ever figure out who Peabody really was yet?
And let's not forget the ongoing book and research....Lincoln is possibly cast as gay......

Good that you went that extra mile to try find what type of conscious there was out here on a gay President. Nice to see a parent who talks with their teens and encourages open ideas.

| A gay President...interesting topic, what is your opinion? Posted: 9/1/2009 4:59:39 PM | The OP made me think of all the stories that were highlighted after Obama's election. Many black americans shared stories of growing up and being told things such as, "You can be anything you want to be... except President of the United States."
It seems very likely she was asking for mom's opinion on how the country would react to a gay candidate (and therefore we can all dispense with the "yes, it's possible, but..." crap. Personally, I wish mom would have spoken more about what she eluded to in her post (that sexual orientation shouldn't matter in a leader.) Otherwise, daughter was possibly hearing more of the same, "You can be anything but..." and that would be a darn shame.
She is lucky to a have a mother who puts such thought into these matters. Good luck with those teen years!

| A gay President...interesting topic, what is your opinion? Posted: 9/1/2009 5:20:37 PM | I'm looking forward to the day when it won't matter if the President is male, female, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, gay, bisexual, married, divorced, Catholic, Jewish, whatever . . . .
Ya know, they should be elected because they're a good leader. However, people have their prejudices and they aren't going to go away tomorrow.

| A gay President...interesting topic, what is your opinion? Posted: 9/1/2009 6:50:41 PM | SaharaM,
I read your profile and is as positive as your posting in this thread. Sorry but good luck with your negativeness and sarcasm.... At least I take the time and respect peoples opinions and If I disagree I tell them straight and not sending sarcastic comments and wishes for my children teenage years. Yes and thank you, I already went through the 1st rough one with my son.
Have some courage and tell me straight what you think not sarcastic. I refuse to read your message between lines!!! PHD Dr. !
And YES my daughter is very lucky to have me as her mother...very very lucky!!!

And YES my daughter is very lucky to have me as her mother...very very lucky!!! Rosia, this is not about courage or snide comments about my profile. There was nothing wrong with my post. I DO think she is lucky to have a mother who thinks through these issues... many parents don't. There was no sarcasm there. Whatever you found offensive is your issue, not mine.
I spent years working with teens, and the teen years can be rough. There were nothing but good wishes about that, either. There aren't a lot of threads about teens in the off-topic forum. It was nice.
If you choose to be offended at good wishes, be my guest. If you want to try to read between lines and find negativity, you'll have to own that as well.
That said, I still wish you luck.

That's why I thought she was joking. I have no idea why she misunderstood you. I wonder is she mature enough to apologize?

| A gay President...interesting topic, what is your opinion? Posted: 9/2/2009 9:08:05 PM | Just imagine having a openly gay president:
-The interior colors of the whitehouse would be vivid pinks, yellow, orange, fuscia and cranberry. -All the presidential blue carpeting would clash with the colours/theme - throw them out!! **snap fingers and bobs head** -The limo would be fitted with a hot tub. -Airforce 1 would be renamed, "Assforce 1" -National guards couldn't wear cacky colours at night... "I can't see you." (Flamboyant colors only). -"Half Mast" would not be tolerated.
**In a Jerry Seinfeld voice** "Not that it's a bad thing!"

If we ever get a point where christianity is not the majority in this nation. It could happen, but that poor president would be catching jokes from every side in the media.

| A gay President...interesting topic, what is your opinion? Posted: 9/3/2009 4:46:52 AM | | wow i'd vote for a gay man as president at the drop of a hat if i thought he would actually uphold and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign & domestic, as the oath they're required to take states so clearly. plus, think about how absolutely FAB the white house would look. i would never vote for a lesbian. sorry, i just cannot accept anyone as a serious authority figure who would forever remind me of my last gym teacher in high school. nope! here's where i move to canada. well see, now you know where my own personal bias comes in. ;) | |
