OP -- After reading your post the first thing I thought was the motherboard has failed. I'd bet dollars to donuts on it, especially if you're using a built-in video card. One easy test is to boot to BIOS/System Setup and see if you still get the no signal/white lines issue. If the answer is yes, then the motherboard is crap.

Your best bet is to replace the system because between repair costs and upgrades you'll spend less to just replace it outright.

The screen is black? Try another monitor for the heck of it.
