| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/10/2009 9:33:56 PM | Oh no Hallie......what will you do NOW???
Why is it that some people got email warnings and others didn't??? I never got email either!! I had a song on my profile, but not a play list of songs.

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/10/2009 9:54:23 PM | . . . . Hmmmm weird.. I got the quick freak out and change your password message too... but ...
I didn't even have that music junk on my account... why would I need to change my password?
|
| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 2:51:28 AM | It does work... when you click the update button the reflection will work - although it seems as though nothing has happend. Closed down you POF browser and re-open with new browser & PW. Hope this helps...

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 7:18:41 AM | | The music function is definitely gone, and so is the background I used to have (it's not even a choice anymore when I get enough points!). I liked the tropical theme with the pink hibiscus. | |

I didn't even have that music junk on my account... why would I need to change my password? You may not need to change your password if you weren't using the IMEEM stuff. The issue is that many people use one password for many log-ins / sites / accounts all over the internet.
I'd think the point BigFish was making is that if your IMEEM account has the same password as your POF account, and your IMEEM account becomes compromised by a hacker, then your POF account may be vulnerable.
Having said that, it's still good practice to change passwords regularly in any event.

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 8:51:47 AM | I have heard several theories about this from various sources who seem to imply they have inside information, it's all very convoluted and amusing at best.
Mo, I'm sorry you will miss Imeem here, but you still have your playlists on there at least.
Sandy, I had one song too, it was "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar, very conducive to finding love on POF.
|
| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 12:35:53 PM | I know, Hallie. I can still listen on Imeem. But the point was sharing the music with others that might have enjoyed some long lost song or get turned on to something new. It's the same reason people share videos, pics, interests, etc. It's not strictly for their own enjoyment, but others.
I wish the security issues get cleaned up and it can be re-introduced.

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 1:21:42 PM | Welcome back Hallie. I see you have your pictures up again too. Looks good!
Sandy, I had one song too, it was "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar, very conducive to finding love on POF. LMAO...I'm sure that helped.
On the Florida Forums were you have previously posted, it still shows you are no longer a member (i.e, no "view profile" or "history") Not sure if that will change once you are aloud to begin posting again.
I didn't get the e-mail, but I had no music either.

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 3:06:44 PM | I didn't get the message to change my POF password (though just did, thanks to a heads-up from a fellow fish).
I find it curious that some users got the notice and some did not. Was this partial notification based on if users had Imeem code in their profile or not?
I had closed my Imeem account when they removed user-generated video content.
|
| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 3:09:07 PM | BE, I've had Imeem on my profile for months, maybe over year, and never got an email. I only found out on the Imeem Music Help thread. | |
|
| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 3:20:14 PM | Maybe it would only affect those who have Imeem accounts, serious member accounts and use the same passwords. I realized if you're not a serious member the most they could get is your date of birth, if you're honest about it (which I am).
I doubt many people would be compromised if so.
Mo, I know, we bonded over the music.
Nancy, my old posts will stay the way they are because I deleted that account and was just lucky to be able to open a new one with the same name, so as of 9/13 it will be like old times (sort of).

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 5:08:27 PM | i'm not a serious member, although the "test" gave me an invitation! no imeem account either. i am a longstanding forum member and a "yenta", so maybe i was communicating with others with imeem accounts? not sure i get this. i was advised "never" to use the same names or passwords on different websites! an explanation would be helpful from the "source". my password changed easily. hope i don't forget it though. i also told friends to do the same who did not get the personal message, just in case something went wrong there.
well, if you come across a short, busty blonde named serenitycw, who is btw a guy now since the imeem conspiracy, please know that my virtual identity has been stolen----OR you have found my long, lost twin--for which there is a reward. but ncis agents (my "virtue-al" heroes) will first pop off the tv screen to rescue my "virtue" and check the dna. so no foul play, mind you! this is WHY they call it virtual reality, see?

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/11/2009 9:49:06 PM | Well this sucks. Imeem has been going down hill anyhow. I mean when they were new they let you upload as many videos and music files on your page as you want, now they limit the amount of music uploads you are allowed to upload to your page unless you pay for it. Not to mention they took away the ability to even allow you to upload Videos to your page anymore.
You guys should partner up with myspace. So that we can use their player on this site.

I didn't get the message to change my POF password . . .
I find it curious that some users got the notice and some did not. Yeah, I didn't get a notification message either and not sure if / how the POF broader user base might be alerted. At the end of the day, security at an external site isn't really POF's problem but a mass e-mail would still be the right thing to do, I reckon.
For anyone interested, here's a IMEEM help thread outlining some of the occurrences there.
http://www.imeem.com/feedback/forums/NGF9CtIY/-g87FJWo/wrong-username-heeelp/
Anyway . . I deleted my IMEEM account. I was only using it to provide the link to POF and there's no point in leaving any unused account out in the wild, as it were, for a potential hacker.

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/12/2009 5:01:08 AM | I never got the email, but changed my password, however now all the information on my profile keeps being deleted, 6 times today so far ... Is this anything to do with whats been going on ?? Any advice please ??

| PoF/Imeem Password Issue Posted: 9/12/2009 1:11:23 PM | Never got the email from pof or from imeem. Double Failure from both parties.
Granted, I did have an imeem account previous to PoF using it. It would be nice if the owner would be nice enough to send out a mass email to all of their users, or at least the users who used this plugin about the possibility of an exploit. Wonder if those users who paid for the site, have any chance of an issue if their account was exploited? Hoping the site is PCI compliant.

| PoF/Imeem Password Issue Posted: 9/12/2009 1:40:07 PM | | Also the hacker was trying to steal email addressess etc and they attempted to save the info on the servers of iliketoflirt.com another "free dating site" SO if anything happens I know exactly where to look and what authorities to contact in the UK. | |

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish re: IMEEM Posted: 9/13/2009 7:43:24 AM | This thread::: Plentyoffish Music using IMEEM.com - How To Use [CLOSED read Post 1.] STILL HAS ACTIVE CODE RUNNING. I did not link the URL because Message 1. contains ActiveX Code that STILL runs, and shows up as harmful on my computer. Although the thread has been closed, perhaps it would be best to remove the imeem code in Message 1. [?] Thanks! | |

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/15/2009 1:42:42 PM | I've had imeem for over a year on my profile, but received no email from Big Fish; were they only sent to random members? And, yes, my music player is gone.
I wouldn't go as far as deleting my entire imeem account, because you can always go on the site and just browse and listen to the music; plus, I have a player on each of my blogs; so I'll just change the password. Thanx for the heads up.

| Changing Your Password Mail From BigFish Posted: 9/16/2009 8:49:30 PM | | I didn't get a message from "Big Fish" regarding the password and I had IMEEN player on my profile. I have been surfing here trying to find the thread regarding the player not being on the profile . I will change my password but was curious why I wouldn't have received a message since I had uploaded the player. BTW I noticed today the last 3 people that viewed are listed again, just in a different spot. Thanks! | |
