I agree that Bush made mistakes. Although the left seem to exagerate the extent of them. However, Bush at heart was an patriotic American. I believe he had the interest of the nation at heart.
Obama from the get go has been unshameful in his anti-American ideology. He is working his best to callapse this nation financially so he can make head way in destroying the freedoms that this nation has been built on.
I believe he deep down is probally a communist. You can hear it in the speeches he made before running for president and in his actions after he won. There is nothing about him that makes one think of an patriotic American. He seems to stand against all that America is about. His presidency is the worst America has ever seen and he is truley more dangerous to American interests than any terrorist out there. | |

Posted: 10/2/2009 6:54:27 AM | I am becoming more and more confused about our president. I understand that his outlook on life and government is different than mine. Fine. No problem. But where does he get these czars. I think it is bad enough that we have so many of them, but why did he choose this bunch? Now we have the , (what is it) "safe sex czar", or something along those lines? The czar has stated that when he was approached by a teenager who told him he was having sex with an older man, his advice was, "Hope your using protection"? Is it just me? Is this weird? (( the czar was a counselor or some similar position at the time) Should he had not attempted to have the older gentlemen arrested? What is going on here?
I guess it is true that we are in the "apathy" stage. Come on communities! Wake up! We need communitoes on thier own to be active. Not the type of "village" Mrs. Clinton spoke of. The type of villages Mrs. Clinton wrote about leads to Czars such as this one. I think it is time that each and everyone of these czars are investigated. | |

There are far far too many Americans who really believe this jesus chap is going to come out of the clouds to save the day at the last moment. That worries me.
As Sam Harris has said in effect: If Los Angeles & New York were vapourized tomorrow by nuclear weapons - a great many Americans would see a silver-lining in this event - the impending return of Jesus.
People truly scare me.
One thing that troubles me as an outsider looking in is how it seems a great many American's don't want to question their government or the decisions it makes and branding this as unpatriotic.
You must always question the decisions your gov't makes and you have to read & be informed on the issues in the world and why they happen.
I've really begun to feel lately that the US government has lost its moral compass. | |

I dunno, my crystal ball is foggy today. Must be the weather.
I was appalled last night when my colleague showed me a chain email that she received. It was a vicious, hateful, anti-Islamic piece of sh*t full of lies and distortions. When I hear & read these things - there's so much hate speech these days - I wonder if this isn't what it was like in Germany before Hitler came to power and as the Nazis started rounding up the Jews.
If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Fretting will get you nowhere.

crumbling infrastructure
Large standing foreign armies
Debt
Corruption
Mismanagement of money
Eroding civil liberties.
It's clear....the american century is over and is now on a permanent decline. Just like the empires in the past crumbled this one is no different.
So my prediction is that soon states will try to separate and attempt to have a go at it on their own. Which will be a good thing for everyone involved.
When we ignore history and don't learn from our mistakes we repeat them over and over.

If you compare the U.S to ancient Rome you'll notice that the problems they faced back than are the same as today. Well, the Empire has to fall some day. It wasn't built in a day and won't fall in a day, graduale decline most likely. Annoying though, that the decline will be seemingly forever accompanied by the whining and complaining, why aren't we the country we used to be? It's like someone aging and going on and on interminably about the aging process and the loss of youth. | |

America's economy is a vital part of the global economy. If we fail, much of the world's economies will follow. America's recent bank failures are an example of that. In a global economy, the big dog must succeed. | |

Posted: 11/22/2009 12:32:51 AM | Every generation thinks their time is the worst and the end is near. This is nothing new and the world goes on. America will probably eventually collapse under the fiscal burden that decades of loose spending has caused, but it will be a gradual thing and we will still matter in the end. No one stays on top forever and the American military and economic domination is already coming to an end. As long as we continue to spend more than the rest of the world combined on our military we will still be a dominant power, just not THE dominant power. With a shrinking share of the global economic pie, that will be harder to do. Now so much the downfall of the West or America specifically, it's more the rise of the rest of the world. Five centuries of Western domination are coming to an end and the US is just going to have to learn to live with the rest of the world instead of telling them what to do.
As far as the future of the US specifically... stagnant economy and high interest rates and inflation are almost a given because of our debts. If they balanced the budget today, we would still have to raise taxes just to pay off 50 years worth of debt. Eight years of the GOP shows they aren't concerned with fiscal policy when they have the power to so something about it, so it really isn't a right/left issue. Both major parties are quite happy to buy their supporter's votes, paid for by other people. Passing our bills to younger generations can't continue forever, so the only question is how long before the real nasty crap happens. We have already screwed the great grandkids, so how much into the future can we continue to fornicate future generations? When China decides to quit underwriting our debt, the shiit will hit the fan. I give it 15 years or so, then the very slow growth, high interest rates and inflation start to really hit home. Think an economy like much of Europe where 10% unemployment is 'normal.' | |
