| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/23/2004 2:02:32 PM | Why do men get suckered into mail order brides? Because they appeal to basic need for stability. Men's lives today are built around punching a clock and going to work. We wake, we excrete, we consume, we toil, we consume, we excrete, we vegitate, we collapse into fatigue, we wake-repeat. Unfortunately more and more Western women are doing the exact same thing. This does not bode well in a relationship, let alone to leave anything for rewarding a relationship. These "women" appeal to that lost era when men were valued as hunters-gathers, leaders and lords.
I use the term "women", because the vast majoirty of these scamers are men, and more often than not, they are based here in the USA. This is an FBI statistic, look it up.

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/24/2004 4:41:34 PM | Hey Admin!
How am I supposed to contact my Russian Bride if you just wiped her out? [laughing]
Here in western Europe there are some offices that will guide you to your Russian bride, organize meetings etcetera. These marriages last exactly the time needed to get the Dutch citizenship for the lady. I know a fellow who just married his third bride. I suppose he knows how to swear in the Russian language by now.

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/25/2004 12:17:30 PM | I think that the Russian Mail Order Bride situation is a viable option. So are the hispanic brides. I have been in contact with a number of ladies in the 40-55 age range written and telephone, and I have written to a couple of Web Site Providers for these ladies. Who have written me back regarding them and their services. Obviously some are scams some are not. I suspect the 20 something young ladies writing to me out of the blue are a scam. On the other hand the ladies in their 40s that I wrote to have turned out to be real.
It also costs a lot more than an airline ticket. You had best figure around 10 to 15 thousand dollars of disposable income will be needed. Primarily for leagal, medical and travel expenses. Figure on buying her and her family a new computer too as she will get homesick.
The INS requires that they stay married for 2 years or get deported. The INS also requires that YOU support them for life even if a divorce judge decrees otherwise say a 50/50 split. So it bears some thinking. I do believe however there are some wonderful women in those countries that have the values that ladies in the US no longer consider as attributes.

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/25/2004 12:21:22 PM | | As my mother used to say, you pay your money and you take your chnces. Heck 10 to 15 thousand is cheap. My ex-american wife took over 90 thousand. | |

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/25/2004 12:25:50 PM | | I received an e-mail from my darling Olga. Now you might have already guessed, but dear Olga is all of 30 years old and looking for a husband. Seems none of the men in Russia measure up but wouldn't cha know it, Olga seems to think that I have potential even though, she's never met me or even corresponded. Well no bother a few (count 4) e-mails dearest Olga has gone from liking me to being in love. Yupper, head over heels, she is ! Now I'm sure you can just imagine my delight in having a young lady 10 years my junior (or 11 years depending on the letter, sometimes she's 29 other times she's 30) in looooove with me and wanting to start a family with yours truely. Well, I thought it would be a good idea if I found out a little bit about Olga's neck of the woods, seeing as we're in love, going to getmarried, start a family, etc... I thought it would be the gentlemanly thing to do (want to impress the future mother-in-law). So off to my favorite search engine, type in Olga's hometown and away we go ! Well you can just imagine my shock when I found an internet scam business based in this town. No wonder Olga wants to leave. Well today the infamous e-mail arrived and she wants to visit or more to the point she has asked me to send money for a ticket......wait a minute I got a great idea for a thread. | |

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/25/2004 8:08:31 PM | | juzamjedi, Hi ! There are genuine ladies on the RUSSIAN FRONT. Especially UKRAINE. They want OUT of Chernyoble/Pripyat radiation and lost Empire warfare. I have formerly spoken with a Bride of Brazil. There are many earnest ladies, however, Language is a HUGE BARRIER. I had this problem with a German wife in my youth. There is nothing Earthly so sweet as Hearts entwined and genuine communication. | |

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/25/2004 10:29:24 PM | I actually really like meeting women from other countries, especially when they have sexy accents! Most of those women that I've met were sweethearts (including a few on here )
I'll be sure to let you know if/when the marriage proposals start rolling in

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/26/2004 10:35:54 AM | | juzamjedi , Hi ! It's not just brides. Personally, I hope to make medical or healthcare friends in Russia for example. I got a Russian medical eMail yesterday. Former kommies are very paranoid. I have a friend in Bulgaria AND they just HATE the 'FILTHY RED ARSE!' and say so always. He works tv and has coordinated Olympic Satellite coverage. My point is that some may be LIARS and FAKES, have hidden agendas, and some are TRUTHFUL and HONEST-- it's like that here too LOL. If I get the chance I shall find out if I have NEW RUSSIAN FRIENDS. | |

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/26/2004 12:05:39 PM | | I think its important to point out, that yes many may be liars... but we all but know what motivates such liars: MONEY!! - So, we all need to keep a chain on our bilfolds. As soon as I read something asking for a CC#... Well, thats "all she wrote" . hehe | |

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/26/2004 12:39:09 PM | | That's wise advice, Jammer40351. Real Iron Curtain or citizens of tyrannical countries are often very careful. Scammers and Mafia types are brazen seeking dough. A Russian co-worker once told me that Russia for example puts Vegas to shame. The Russian gamers play for serious money and not just a little at a time. Introduction Services can be a CASH COW. | |

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/26/2004 3:52:12 PM | | Kisa, do you have any inside info as to how popular it is for Rusian ladies to surf for men in outher countries? Do you feel that most of the types of letters we have discussed in this thread are from REAL women? Or, like another has stated... are they likely from an agency that just made up the women's profiles? | |

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/26/2004 4:01:25 PM | | It's very popular. The letters with poor grammar are most likely from real women. There are agencies out there as well...You'd have about 70% chance of being screwed. (and not in a way you'd like). | |

"The letters with poor grammar are most likely from real women"
Well, that would imply there all from real Russian women then. hehe. I mean honestly, all such emails that I have seen were like this. Some of these letters are worded with such poor English that they are popular joke topics. Would not the agencies perhaps misword the letters too, as to give the impression they are from individual Russian women? Just curious, because if what you say is true then perhaps most people are truly receiving emails from actual Russian singles, and not from angencies that made up their profiles.

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/27/2004 12:29:26 PM | | kisa , I agree. I believe many mail order brides are for real. They are just like the potential 'mail order brides' here at PoF. They seek TRUE LOVE and friendship, common interests, and the exploration of LOVE and becoming ONE yet-- they may have special LANGUAGE BARRIERS. | |

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/27/2004 4:35:35 PM | I have met some great Russian girls on the internet who are not with any Dating Agencies or are looking for anyone to marry. It has been over 1 year with two of them.
In that time I have learned to speak and write in Russian - they teach me and they already know very good English.
When I am in East Europe or Russia I can get by on language and I also now understand the culture and people much better. Also I have formed solid bonds with some excellent local girls.
I weeded out the scammers early on too. They usually ask for money within the first few months.
My suggestion is that everyone keep their minds open to all possibilities....and who is to say that your perfect other half will live within 50 miles of you??? They could be 50,000 miles from you !!!

| My first Russian mail order bride! Posted: 10/28/2004 10:15:48 AM | | Bronson4 , Hi ! This is good advice. However, a LADY asking for money is NOT an AUTOMATIC-DISQUALIFIER. I barely have two copper pennies to rub together. I've made a lot of stupid and foolish mistakes and US traitors have really turned them against me and used these self-destructive mistakes to make my life hell. It's my own fault for being a chucklehead, but anyway I recently sent a PoF lady money when she needed it and I DO NOT regret it... | |
