| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 8/5/2009 9:58:35 AM | Not all musicians get the attention. Only skinny musicians that look like they haven't had a meal in 3 years and are strung out on so many drugs a pharmacist would be jealous of his drug supply. I am a singer in a metal band but I also play guitar and bass guitar and I have not slept with a single woman from being in a band, and I have played a lot of shows with a lot of big bands. Maybe because I have standards and I want more then just a lay. | |

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 8/5/2009 10:05:01 AM | Women are NOT attracted to musiciains.
Women are attrated to which ever men are fashionable at the time.
Over the years that has ranged from rock musicians 60s to folk musicians 70s to business moguls 80s to sporting stars 90s to gangster rappers 2000s. Patently false.
I was a semi-pro musician from the age of 17 till the age of 30. I was a classically trained guitarist. I performed as a classical musician, and also played the circuits and toured with Top40 as well as Rock bands both when I lived in Montreal and Toronto.
Although I don't gig regularly at all, anymore, there is the odd time I'll walk into a club and see some performers playing that I'm friends with.
If you happen to sit in for a few tunes, you've instantly become more attractive.
It has nothing to do with what's in fashion. I'm 42 years old now, and the effect is the same on some women my age as it is on ones much younger, and parallels what it was when I was younger.
Personally, I've never dated "groupies", so I don't claim to understand exactly why it is that some women are so drawn to musicians, but there are plenty that are, and freakishly so.

There are many reasons women are attracted to musicians.
It just depends on the woman to lend to her reasoning.
Some women are into riding coat tails to fame.
Some women appreciate the talent.
For me, the more instruments you can play the more attractive you are to me.
If your voice gives me chills... well... cough.

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 8/5/2009 10:13:33 AM | More than once and even more than twice I have been told by women that it was "hot" that I played guitar. None of them ever heard me play so it was definitely an image thing for them. Had they heard me play, it probably would not have been so hot. | |

There are ALOT of women who are attracted to musicians/entertainers.
I used to work somewhat in the business, and I'd go to friends shows and watch the people watching the band.
When he took off his shirt, plenty of women were cheering and right up at the front of that stage. I just thought he took it off at the wrong song.
TV and the media have romanticized this line of work. I'm interested in musicians solely for a mutual interest, seldom are musicians interested in me.

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 8/5/2009 10:48:44 AM | Different women are attracted to different men for different reasons I think. I always thought Billy Joel was cool...and I did like Phil Collins and his sound tracks. Oh wait...did you mean people who played instruments or strummed the guitar for their personal pleasure? I wouldn't say I was attracted to them, but I always wanted to learn to play the piano. Maybe I will. I wonder if men are more attracted to women who sew and cook? Only the shadow knows.

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 9/13/2009 1:29:05 AM | Well Musicians need to be loved also... .hehe Well I am a Professional Musician... and even toured with a famous band for several years, and I never thought just because someone was attracted to me that they were a groupie... although there are some I am sure... Most are nice ladies that like creative types like musicians.... And like OP it is their comfort zone....
and to stop the misconception that all musicians on tour are having sex with every lady in every city.... maybe for some bands.... but not myself....
But we like anyone else love being appreciated for who and what we are.... Peace Larry

Why are women attracted to musicians?
I guess I didn't pass the test and get the merit badge that said I was attracted to musicians. I'm not. Most of them look greasy and arrogant. Nothing I'm in to.

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 9/23/2009 11:58:50 AM | It's because we exude confidence and charisma. It takes a certain kind of animal to stand up on stage in front of a group of people and play or sing, or do both. Public speaking is the number one fear among adults, death is second. So to see people who thrive off of that is envious. How many times have you thought "omg I could never do that" and then find it hot that we can.
Myself, I feed off an audience. I always liked being in the spotlight, I was on stage from age 6 when I started with piano recitals. Year after year playing for this,'playing for that. Guitar and singing came naturally. Unfortunately, song writing did not. But hey, playing in cover bands was always fun, had the attention we craved, always had a hot girlfriend, and got paid to do what we love.
You don't work music....
You play music.

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 9/23/2009 1:17:07 PM | Because musicians aren't just a part of the crowd...they stand apart, they are up on a stage, they are performing, they draw your attention in. For me personally, if I'm out at a club where there is a band, I'm more apt to pay attention to the guys up on stage playing instruments because they are doing something...they are entertaining me. A guy who is just sitting or standing across the room isn't doing anything entertaining. Unless he is really hot. Then that IS entertaining.
Plus, musicians just beg to get looked at. You're supposed to watch and pay attention to a band. If I stared at a guitar player for twenty minutes straight I'd have an excuse. If I stared at a guy sitting a few seats away for twenty minutes it would just be creepy.
I dated a musician(s) a few years ago, and am still somewhat involved with one, although I wouldn't settle down with any one man. I've been able to have so many awesome experience as a result...traveled a lot of places I wouldn't have otherwise, stayed in a lot of AMAZING hotels for free, gotten all kinds of perks, get to be backstage...it's where the action is. Who doesn't want to be where the action is?

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 9/23/2009 1:39:15 PM | I don't know if this relates, but it's something that I noticed in myself:
I used to live very left brained and be very drawn to people that were right brained (artists, musicians, creative people etc). When I was about 30 my life changed in that I became interested in metaphysics. While I was exploring that I also started shifting myself more towards my right brain. I allowed my creativity to come out. I hadn't really realized that I was creative.
Society tends to put us into 2 camps. When you work in business you tend to think of creative people as 'others'. And creative people think of us as 'others'. And if we don't know that we all have the capacity for both, many of us put ourselves in 1 camp and never set foot in the other.
So, aren't we normally drawn to what we're lacking? So, I think I was drawn (even though I was never a groupie ;-) ) to people that lived very right brained. As I started shifting over, that attraction also changed. I'm more balanced and use both sides of my brain and I tend to be attracted to others like that. Not really that attracted to musicians, artists etc, because now I see a lack of left brain activity in many of them. A lot of flakiness that I have a difficult time with.

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 9/23/2009 2:07:43 PM | Women are attracted to men that exhibit PASSION about some aspect of their lives, and musicians do just that. It takes a lot to just put yourself out there in front of a crowd of people and give it your all. Same thing goes for people in the performing arts in general.
Sure some women just love the potential fame/prestige that comes along with it if you hit it big, but that explanation falls flat on the dudes just jamming in a dive bar that STILL get the groupies at the end of the night.
Men with passion leads to the hope that they'll be just as passionate about their woman as well. Can't blame women for hoping; if you ask me, it sounds like a logical assumption.

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 9/24/2009 9:54:34 AM | I think there are two separate questions here:
1 Are women attracted to guys who are just musically talented? or;
2 Are women attracted to guys who like to get up and perform in front of other people?
In other words, is the guy who is a musical prodigy, but only plays instrument for his own satisfaction, or only sings in church, as attractive to women as the the mediocre musician who performs in public?

Yes, society does tend to divide us into 2 camps: male/female, straight/gay, democrat/republican, socialist/capitalist, analytical/creative (left/right brain), off/on, 0/1, etc. I think binary thinking is why we have extremes in our culture. Hardly do we think of a third way as a possibility. I used to have the hardest time with math, and 9 years ago when I took a programming course in COBOL, I had a hard time with that too. I did get better with left-brain thinking, of course, but it took a while. Metaphysics is a good path. I've been studying Druidism for a while and that helps unlock the analytical as well as the creative side in a person.

| Why are women attracted to musicians? Posted: 9/30/2009 7:16:58 AM | when it comes to being a chick magnet ~ it takes flare, style and confidence in yourself.
you put that in a musical package and placed front and center with a few hot licks. It's a moist muffin warmer for many of the ladies. Not all, but many. ~ usually the real bubble heads. ~ which works quit well really. The one's that like it to hurt so good!
They are the ones that always on a emotional roller coaster . On top one day and the bottom the next.
Some are much smarter about it then others. Some can hang and some can't.
things has changes some over the years ~ I got back from Nam in 1970, only to find everybody was having a big Fock Fest in my absence. I'm not sure if I ever got up to speed.
This women groupie thing exist in music, sports, politics, anywhere men gather and appear desirable with wit , flare, skill and charm. ~
Down deep, women want to make babies ~ pretty, smart babies. That's her hard wired purpose. Maybe they don't really think of it that way ~ it might be too abstract on a conscience level. But that's what happening ~ nature selection at work.
It's not required that you agree or ever believe this is so ~ for it won't change a thing.
It is ~ what it is.
As for us men ~ we need to know and understand ~ if she's not into you ~ there is nothing you can do to change this ~ You might trap and owe her, but she'll never really be yours. The smartest thing to do is find one that "is" and keep life simple.
