I'll date one if he isn't the 'i'm in a band' type but mroe the kind that plays around the house. But, it's more of a turn off than turn on. as far as the artsy sorts go, I tend to like writers. I like engineers best of all though. Actually, a man in any of the sciences is like candy for me. | |

he (meaning my future musician-type husband) would sing to our future kids. That thought in my mind of a guy playing the guitar for his baby still holds some attraction for me. doesnt necessarily mean Ill marry a musician, but it'd be nice if he had Some sorta musical talent, haha, kazoo could work.....I guess =P jk
I love music...I grew up with it, and play myself, and want my kids to grow up with music in their life. | |

Since I can't play anything very well, I just am attracted to those people who can. It is a talent that I wish I had. So, I guess admiration as well as just liking the music plays a factor.
So, all you musicians out there..... drop me a line and tell me what you would like to play for me.

I agree with the line "my future husband could play to our future kids". That has a definite allure. Maybe there is a Freudian connection as well. That being the guitar as an extension of his manhood. Who the heck knows? I think the talent aspect alone is appealing.
It's sooooooo complicated dammit! LOL
Oooohhh and there is always that little fantasy that maybe the guy will write us a love song and serenade us...aaahhhh.... | |

Yes, I see the connection. My father is a musician and I gave birth to a musician, and I've dabbled with it a bit myself.
I think the overall attraction for me lies in simply watching how musicians play their instrument(s). I "feel" that the way they play their instument is how they'll play my body. Musicians are intense, emotional, and very passionate. Heck, I'm watching a DVD of a live concert of Keith Urban's and honestly, watching him play that six string puts me on the ceiling. | |

Posted: 11/9/2005 4:13:43 PM | Actually, part of the reason I don't flaunt my musical talents is because of some of the ideas presented here. Confidence is not conceit. Musicians don't play music to get women, though it's a nice benefit when it works out that way. We simply enjoy making music.
The thing is, women are attracted to musicians for many different reasons. Some of those reasons are why some of the ideas presented here exist; if ya know what I mean. Just as there are dog wild musicians, there are dog wild fans of musicians as well.
I'll be honest. I've used my talents to gain attention, but I'm selective. You can tell the women that are in it for a romp. A lady that is touched by the music and can express as much is the kind I'm attracted to.
Now, can someone tell me when a musician loses his mystique??? I'm guessing it happens somewhere during his first marriage. I've been single for awhile and it isn't doing me any favors. So much for philosophy.
Anyway. I think women are drawn towards artistic ability in general. Creativity can be displayed in even the spoken word. Lucky for guys like me, these things take away from physical appearance.
As for the idea of having your partner write for you; careful what you wish for. I've written a couple songs about my wife. None of them are what you would call love songs, though one does have an intimate message. The one I'm working on now isn't very flattering for her at all, but that's her fault, not mine. Inspiration comes from the stuff that hits us hardest. I suppose recognizing that and the fact that I never wrote her that "love song" would indicate that our split was probably not all a bad thing. I can't wait to gain the inspiration to write a song like that for someone, but I know it'll have to be real before I put it to music.
I also sing to my kids. My son loves Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin and my daughter likes me to put her name in the song "Zoe Jane" by Staind. I lov entertaining people, but it feels so much nicer to be singing and playing for people that I know love me.
There's another thought for ya. Despite all the bad boy image, the rebellion, the party animal tendencies, musicians are more fulfilling and better all around lovers. I believe you have to know how to channel your emotions before you can sacrifice them on a relationship. | |

Last night I went to see a guy who has played a few times at the bar where I work . He gave me his number a while ago and told me to come to his show at the end of October. I couldn't make it to that one but I was respectful and called him to say I wouldn't be there that night but would definitely try to make it out another time. That time was last night. I brought a crowd as well and it was a great atmosphere. My girlfriends both said that I would be CRAZY if I didn't go for him.
Because he was on the mike, he had the power to single me out in the crowd. They say his face lit up when he saw me walk in the room. He also sang a song to me --one with my name as the title-- and I was floored. Absolutely floored. It was sweet and you could tell he was a little nervous about it. Then he called me up to sing the harmony on another song with him. Fun times.
He made me feel so wanted, so special. Even though he was singing to a group, we all felt like he chose the songs to sing to me. It was a really unique feeling. I can't say that I've ever felt the way I did last night.
Who knows what will happen between us but it reiterates why I am attracted to musicians. I love his talent. I love his voice. There is something sooo.....sexy about that. | |

That's great QT. The fact that you're willing to enjoy his creativity with him makes it better for him as well. My sigline on my profile says, "Musician seeking his songbird". While it would be nice to meet someone who would enjoy my creativity with me, I'd be just as happy finding someone who inspired me to write.
I'm not suffering from creative block, but I am focusing too much in one direction, which is not good for a songwriter.

After our breakup the songs weren't so "nice"...we are friends now and even in our years as friends he has written a few songs to me and it's like a treasure to me. Do the "mean" songs hurt my feelings? Not really, it was his emotions pouring out of him at the time. A musician writing a song is like therapy to them. I have to say that the time I spent with him was the best relationship I have ever been in. Our breakup was due to the fact that I am a mom and couldn't live the bar life with him but I didn't want him to give up his dream (which he was about to do) for me. He didn't understand at the time, but he does now. Why was I attracted to him? PASSION. Something "artistic" men have an abundance of. Women want to feel that passion and artistic men know how to pour it on! Do I normally "go" for musicians? Not necessarily. I do have a strong attractioin to the "rock star" look, which by the way.... Dime...I can not understand why you would be having a slump, you are a very handsome man...but I don't just go out looking for musicians. And that's my "ramble" on the subject lol | |
