What is the strangest way you were told it was over

I too came home once to a completely empty house. Was torn between the rightness of it, realizing it was obviously right for her. What became mind-blowing was never receiving a goodbye letter afterward. Wasn't it enough she got what she wanted? Should we just settle for more Forums or ask a librarian for the historically based War of the Sexes manual? Who the F wants to experience avoidable parts of repeated history.

Epilogue: We and her 3 children got back together two years later for the third time, which lasted three years. The End.

FFS ~~ aside from the kids' furniture, I only took what I'd paid for, or what was in the basement. And at the divorce, he kept pretty much everything, stock market account, house, lot in Florida and gravesites, lol! I got a six year old station wagon with 140,000 miles on it, $5,000 and $210 month child support. He had my lawyer's number, and my best friend next door knew where I was. He saw the kids the next week end -- about when he would have seen them anyways.

That night, when I picked the kids up after school, I took them to dinner. And told them. Eldest (seven years old) said: This new place we're going to live, does it have a refrigerator? I said yep. Does it have food in it? I said yep. He said good. Their dad saw a good deal more of them after the separation and divorce than he'd ever seen before. . . .

strangest story I've heard I had a client 12 years ago ,she went to Italy to visit her parents for a month and when she came back the house was sold to someone else.. The hubby took off with a mistress, sold the house , cashed in the RRSP's and the GIC's.I think he left her with the car and the bank account.

That was shocking , imaging coming home and 1) your key doesn't work, 2) a stranger answers the door and is looking at you like WTF are you doing to my lock 3) explaining to this poor woman " sorry we bought the house and it closed a week ago"

The law did find the ex husband and he is now a guest of the government and lining up for first class lessons in ass class im sure.

My daughter(6 at the time) came home from a neighbour's house and asked why Daddy was sleeping in Auntie Bev's bed. And how come Uncle Mark didn't live there any more.. I got the kids, he got the 2 cars, the truck, the skidoos, the 2 boats, and most of the furniture. I got the best of the deal. His son still barely talks to him

I have usually been the one who has ended it. Can think of twice when the man broke off the relationship. When I was in 10th grade, I was dating a 12th grader. We dated for about half the year and went to the prom. Then that summer he just disppeared. Never heard from him again....until 40 years later when we connected on a high school reunion site. He had been very successful financially, but he was clearly not very intelligent/intellectual, had no education, had been married and divorced twice, and was a functioning alcoholic. We had nothing in common, so I didn't lose out on anything. The other was a man whom I began seeing when he was separated. He had been separated for six months and had his own apartment. He told me the marriage was over. Six months later he and his wife reconciled, and I was out in the cold. Reason why I have never since dated a separated man. Nothing strange though.

I’ve usually been the one who ended things, but as a teenager I dated a guy a year older than me. We’d been dating a few months, then one day he kissed me goodbye after a date and said see you around. Next day he turned up with my best friend on his arm. Guess who lost a friend that day…
I have to say; those who’ve come home to an empty house have had a coward for a partner When my LTR’s have broken down I’ve always made every attempt to do it amicably and to split everything 50/50 as it should be.

I was always the one who walked when things ended. I didn't take anything with me, a suitcase, my checkbook and my sanity was all I needed to start over.
Wrong is always comes back to bite the a$$ of those who did it. I didn't need to retaliate, and I didn't look back.

A mountain climbing PhD Harvard educated scientist I knew went on to law school. When he gradutated he wanted to going mountain climbing in the Andes, which he did with his wife's encouragement. He returned to an empty house. It took him two or three weeks to locate his wife who he divorced asap. I guess all his studying was too much for her. She must have felt neglected. He soon remarried (too soon) and that did not work out. Sad case.

I was broken up with by e-mail. It was a 5 year live in relationship and he was working out of state on a contract job.

I later found out that he was planning on leaving, He left e-mails and photos of another woman on the computer.

Glad he's someone else's problem.

I'm going to be very graphic here - and if you laugh ... well, what can I say?

He brought his new 'girlfriend' (a close friend of mine) to our home, and they parked in the driveway below our apartment and called up to me. When I went out on the balcony to see what was going on, he had her yell up to me, "He's with me now!"

I yelled back, "Why?"

"He says you're too tight; he's sore ..." We're not talking about me being cheap, either.

I yelled back, "Hold on a minute."

30 seconds later, I dumped my bucket of still hot mop water on both of them, and began drafting my petition for dissolution.

Ah, the good old days.

I had a boyfriend once throw half my stuff out on the lawn in the rain. He put more of my stuff in the backyard burn barrel and set it on fire. This was because I left him after a big fight. It wasn't a break up though, I went back to him a couple of months later. I was young and in love.....lol.

I got an email AT WORK from the guy I'd been with for 5 years, and he made himself unavailable by email, phone or text for the next 3 days. The coward.

Then he had the nerve to say that he didn't intend for it to be a Dear Jane letter, and he couldn't understand why I thought it was cowardly.

The good thing was that it effectively killed any desire I had to ever get back with him again...so five months later, when he called and wanted us to get back together, I could tell him that I'd always be his friend but would never again be his girlfriend. He married someone else about 3 weeks later!

Not quite the topic but I had an executive over me that had a long running affair with his secretary. She had a son by him. He told his wife a sob story about his secretary, a struggling single mom, and explained how they had extra room for her in their house. The wife fell for it and the mistress/secretary and her son moved in. Some time later the executive fired the wrong guy who spilled the beans to the wife to get even. It would have been a lot cheaper to have given the guy a raise and transfered him to another city.

In the very recent past, the man I had been seeing for 4 months chose to end things with me by changing his status on Facebook, from "in relationship with...." to "single." Some of his friends were aware of his change of heart before I was!! Hard to believe a 48 year-old man could not find the words to tell me in person that he was ending it.

Would not respond to my phone call or email after the fact. Even more evidence of his lack of maturity.

Buh bye......

This isn't my story, it's someone else's and that someone was a child caught in the middle.

Dad was career military, and the family lived on base in a mobile home park kind of area. Lots of fighting going on between Mom and Dad. One day while Dad was deployed somewhere, Mom finally moved. My friend was in the school on base, maybe second grade. She came home on the bus, got off at the regular stop, and walked home - only all that was left were the steps. Mom hadn't emptied the house, she'd TAKEN the house. With all the fighting going on, no one remembered there was a child involved. One of the neighbors finally noticed her sitting on the steps and called base security, and they found out where home had gotten to, and took her there.

Probably not that strange, but one of the most hurtful ways of finding out "it was over", was coming home from a weekend away and going to the bar to see "him" there ... obviously very much "with" his ex-girlfriend.

Even better, was finding out second hand that the father of my child was taking off from where he was staying (ending everything) ... but he wound up in jail and needing bail money ... HA!

Lets see there were a couple of them
You know the poem words that are refrigerator magnets? They were popular a couple of years ago. I found them arranged in a very perfunturary lymric. Something to the point of go get bread and beer, dont come back
the etcha sketch break up (that was 8th grade) She spend all study hall on it.
and the all time classic, Ive been thinking about it for a while and I have decided to come out of the closet, yep, I'm gay and you are no longer my type.

Ah good times.
Worse I have ever done?... I asked her sister to go boating, without inviting her. We both knew it was over by the end of the day.

When we got to the top of the ferris wheel, she said "Promise you'll never call me again or I'll jump." After digesting this, I considered telling her "I'll give you a ring later." But then I paused; "Did she say "I'll jump" or "you'll jump"?
So I got off at the bottom and took it out on the bumper cars.
