| | Looking good for your agePage 2 of 2 (1, 2) | I'm often told I don't look old enough to have a 29 yr old daughter...and people are often surprised when I say I'm almost 50..........see......there are some benefits to being fat..........no wrinkles :) We have our own natural "collagen" around the eyes ...LOL
I guess its nice to look younger........but then I don't feel any different inside than I did when I was young anyway.......some say I should grow up and act my age... ...but I plan to grow old disgracefully :)

but I plan to grow old disgracefully
Me too!
I get told all the time that I look much younger and that suits me fine... it's a great compliment whichever way it comes.
Just yesterday I briefly popped in to the pub where my daughter works... I must add I had just done a hard session in the gym, got blown away in the wind and rain with my brolly turning inside out, had virtually no make-up on and my hair looked like it had been pulled through a hedge backwards! On the way home she text me and said her boss ( late 20's) said I was hot! Yeah think he must have been referring to the red glow on my face fron the workout!

| Looking good for your age Posted: 11/13/2009 11:01:09 AM | Being told you look good for your age can be flattering or derogatory, with so many things people say to you, they can be meant totally well, or have an undertone, a hidden insult in them. I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt, but just occasionally, there's no doubt exactly how these things are meant!
The best example in my experience I can think of, was when I first met my ex-partner's ex. Her children lived with me, and that was how she wanted it, but I didn't blame her for having mixed feelings so I chose not to react but being from Halifax, she was able to call me 'bonny' and feign innocence as her brother explained in great depth that in Yorkshire it meant fat rather than pretty. They obviously both found it pretty funny.

| Looking good for your age Posted: 11/13/2009 11:21:19 AM | | Whether its back handed or not its still a compliment and i would accept it as such, im often told that i dont look my age, whether i do or dont there is not a great deal that i can do about it, i dont understand why people are so snipy and willing to put other people down all the time! | |
|
| Looking good for your age Posted: 11/13/2009 11:34:59 AM | I take it as a compliment wether or not the 'for your age' is tagged on. Had quite a few messages from younsters 'til I put my age filters on. Sort of sweet, but maybe they thouight the oldie was desperate? | |

Does it mean that I looked like this at 20 ( which is an insult, who wants to know that at 20 they looked 55? ) or that I look now like a 20 yr old which is a whooping lie!( but proof that Oil of Ulay works)
Now you're showing your age!!!...I can remember when it was called Oil of Ulay...its now been changed to Oil of Olay...God knows why!
On topic, If someone told me I looked good for my age I'd take it as a compliment...Hell, I'll take ANYTHING as a compliment
I'm often told I don't act my age ...and I don't. How SHOULD a 33yr old act?...is there a rule?.

How SHOULD a 33yr old act?
Marginally more immature then a 33 and a 1/2 year old.
Most people think I look closer to 40. That'll be the paper round I had in Beirut.

| Looking good for your age Posted: 10/15/2010 5:18:51 PM | | It doesnt matter if you look your age as long as you look good for your age. Someone famous said that. Think it was victoria principal and she always looks good. | |

| Looking good for your age Posted: 10/16/2010 12:03:33 AM | A back-handed compliment? Far from it as far as I am concerned. I would say that the older you are. the more of a "real" compliment it becomes. | |
|
| Looking good for your age Posted: 10/16/2010 6:08:14 AM | I think its a compliment! Bring it on - especially today where I look and feel like Im about 406! Iast year I got asked for ID for alcohol - Im wondering which one of my friends paid the girl at the co op to say it!
