What's sad is to see someone who feels the need to not only stick the knife in, but then give it a real good twist to make sure the damage has been effectively accomplished. LMAO ... the guy is apparently desperate to be younger ... has a magic mirror that keeps telling him he looks 15 to 25 years younger than he really is then comes in here to basically broadcast it and try to shove it down our throats.
Then some of us are honest ... instead of blowing smoke up his butt ... and that gets ridiculed ... we shouldn't be so cruel (the truth hurts?) and just be more gentle.
So then the appeasement gets posted that he indeed does look to be 15 or 25 years younger (even though his posted pictures do not in any way depict that) ... and that's ridiculed again. People need to decide what they want.
If we're honest with the guy ... we're too cruel. And if we just blow smoke up his butt .. that's not right either?
Seems to me that if the guy had not come in here with such a ridiculous suggestion in the first place ... because he supposedly gets told that he looks 15 to 25 years younger all the time ... no one would have paid any attention to the fact that he's overweight (big bare belly hanging out) and has a head full of long gray hair.
He was seeking attention and he got it.
From the OP (Message 1) ...
I'm 65 and often get told I only look 40 or 50 something but ladies I'm attracted to in their 40s won't date me because I'm "too old." If I were only 40 0r 50 something, I would not date him. He doesn't say anything about ladies his own age ... I wonder if they think he looks 40 or 50 something?
Still tempting to get a false I.D. that show's I'm like 52 or something to show the ladies in their 40s who ask how old I am.... There is the statement that tells me that he's seeking attention and is dillusional. He really does think he looks younger than 65 and some folks in here seem to think we should encourage that?

| False I.D. to Proove We're Younger?? Posted: 10/24/2009 6:01:44 PM | in our local diner, if you are 55+ you get a discount. i usually have to show my license to prove i qualify. so, if someone does believe me and "not" ask for it, i get insulted! so much for my own vanity. | |

Here is the thing, he is wanting more success on a dating site and that means that people are going to assess him on his pics Amethyst, where was the man saying he wanted more success? He said he's dating some lovely women and he thanked them. His question was about using an ID card with a younger age on it - he said it was a tempting idea. I think it's a daft idea, but doesn't mean he deserves to be addressed like this:
Instead of telling the old guy he's delusional, we need to blow smoke up his azz ... make him think he really does look 40. Sooo ... here's something for good measure. Here ya go big guy ... one more time!!!! !!!!!!!!Hey everyone ... look at Riverkilt ... look how young he looks!!!!!!!!

Wow- major Rant
The OP brought up a funny point- how about fake ID to make us seem younger as opposed to like when we were too young to get in a bar and wanted ID to appear older. Funny how things change.
I guess its just too dangerous to mention anything about age on the "over 45 " threads. It can't be brought up without upseting someone. We should just stay in denial and chase younger folks around. Sounds like some good exercise- they need it too those lazy young slackers.

us baby boomers clinging vainly to our youth.
Op,please put down your Magic Mirror and accept your age and the fact you no longer appeal to the hot 40 year olds. The fake id thing is just stupid.

FFS: I did read that, however, he has an active profile on a dating site. Being mean is not a good thing and really, unnecessary. However, he kept insisting that he looks far younger and that is what turned this thread the way it did. From his pics, he does NOT look younger. Plus, many, including myself, are totally turned off by him wanting to lie in order to date women who think he is too old for them. It is just gross, IMO. It is my guess that they are not interested in him for other reasons than age.
I think also that this struck a nerve with me because someone I deeply cared for lied to me about his age once, and it was at least 10 years off. We had become serious and his age was not the issue, it was the lying that was. I would have dated him at his correct age becauase I liked who I thought he was. I checked his free public records out on the net(after catching him in a lie) and found out his truth. It is a total turn-off for anyone not to own their basic truths. It was one of many major lies he told to make himself more attractive which is so sad, because he was wonderful without all of the embellishments.

!!!!!!!!Hey everyone ... look at Riverkilt ... look how young he looks!!!!!!!! Wow- major Rant Rant? I was laughing my ass off the entire time I was writing it.
Take a peak at his pictures!!! The guy looks like an old coot, big bare belly hanging out, man boobs, straggly gray hair ... if that's some woman's opinion of a 40-year old man, then what has she been hanging out with prior to this?
The OP brought up a funny point- how about fake ID to make us seem younger as opposed to like when we were too young to get in a bar and wanted ID to appear older. Funny how things change. It would be "funny" if it were proposed by someone who could really pass as a younger man ... but it's ridiculous when you take into consideration that the man who is proposing it really LOOKS like an old man and IS an old man.
He really just wants the ID to try to prove that he's younger than he is so that he can try to suck in younger women. If he really and truly did want to date women his own age, he would never have come up with such a ridiculous idea. He even admits in the OP that he wants to date "younger women".
I guess its just too dangerous to mention anything about age on the "over 45 " threads. Not at all. Most of us have discovered the secret of aging gracefully and many of us are proud to be the age we truly are.
It can't be brought up without upseting someone. I don't see anyone upset ... I see people laughing at the guy. I mean, it's truly sad and we should feel sorry for him, but he started out being so ridiculous, I honestly thought it was a joke. Then in later posts ... he just kept digging himself in deeper. We have to take him seriously here ... he really does believe he looks 15 - 25 years younger. To convince us, he even posts further on in the thread that he once again ran into some people who told him that.
We should just stay in denial and chase younger folks around. Well that's what the old guy is doing. He's in denial and wants to chase younger women and wants a fake idea in order to help him do it.

| False I.D. to Proove We're Younger?? Posted: 10/25/2009 9:34:51 AM | Ha ha. It would be fun to post close up face and full body pics and have others guess the persons age. Brutal for some, an ego trip for those with good pics. Either way it would be funny.
Relationships don't last long enough to even remember peoples last names these days so why all the hang ups about age. Who cares.
I was raised that it's rude to ask someones age and you never have to tell - especially if you are a women. Yep it's sexist but so is the world. Unfortunately POF requires you state your age. My dating profile used to list my age as 87 lol . It was a good convo opener for the guys but then they expected me to tell for real so I'd say I am 382 and have found the secret to everlasting youth and just laugh. I guess they thought I was nuts but so what if they can't back off or take a joke.

| False I.D. to Proove We're Younger?? Posted: 10/25/2009 10:12:24 AM | I confess that I don't need a false ID to prove my age. I know how old I am and the oly time I have to prove it is to the Government. You know, the people who issued my birth certificate? One can hardly expect them to know may age, now can I!
Aside from that, most people just take my word for it.
If anything, I could use a fake ID to prove I am a few years older. Cheap bus passes, half price at the theatres, discount on hair cuts. Probably even keep some of the younger women from hitting on me, or rejecting me out of hand because I am too old. Either way it would probably ease my life......

| False I.D. to Proove We're Younger?? Posted: 10/25/2009 11:20:05 AM | I went out to eat the other night with my younger sister and her husband and his friend from work. All but my sister are at least 60 or older. The two men got by with just saying they were old enough for the senior discount. My sister ... with her premature gray was passing herself off as a senior and I was the one that got carded!
We were all laughing about it ... thinking back on the times when we had to show proof we were old enough to buy booze and now we have to start showing proof that we're old enough to get the senior discount. They get you coming and going ... eh?

It's been my experience that some people will lie when it will be of benefit to them. Much like the OP wants to lie about his age, those that tell the OP that he looks much younger than his actual age are, without a doubt, lying to benefit themselves. I prefer to surround myself with people who are able to accept life as it is presented to them as opposed to those that want to walk life's path by hiding behind lies. Lies always have a way of coming back to bite one in the patootie at the most inconvenient times.
Well said, Tinkerbelly!

| False I.D. to Proove We're Younger?? Posted: 10/28/2009 2:32:24 PM | | I have a friend who just turned 65. He is trying internet dating for the first time. Today I ran into him at the gym and asked him how it was going. He told me that the women he met had lied about their ages to such an extent he now refers to internet dating as "carbon dating" since the women he has met appeared old enough to use that scientific method to establish their true ages. | |

Still tempting to get a false I.D. that show's I'm like 52 or something to show the ladies in their 40s who ask how old I am.... And then you could date 65 year old ladies who think they look 40 something and also have fake ID to prove it lol

You ought to inform your friend that if (at 65), he's getting responses from women much younger than him, then they are probably not... Also look at the maximum age for mail contact, if listed . That number is probably close to her actual age.

Thanks for your input Marco.
I'll check back with him on that. His last girlfriend is now 61 or 62, only 3 or 4 years younger than him. He is probably looking for a woman in her early sixties, not a far younger woman. He is a very bright and funny guy. I just love the "carbon dating" analogy which according to him he made up himself. It is so right on!!!

He told me that the women he met had lied about their ages ...
I have had dates with 2 ladies that misrepresented their ages by 10 years. That always cracks me up ... I have had so many of my men friends tell me the same thing and I just can't imagine doing something like that.
When people do such things do they really think that sooner or later the prospective partner is not gonna find out?
LMAO ... I met a gentleman down in Florida who was lying about his age and I promptly called him on it. He confessed and I let him know that I did not think it was right to lie about such things. We stayed friends because we are both Karaoke singers and would go out singing together ... not dates. Of course he would tell me about dates he was having and then one week he brought a lady with him.
She was beautiful and appeared to be really interested in him. So when she got up to sing, I leaned over and asked if he had been truthful about his age and he said that he did finally tell her and of all things, she had been lying about her age too. So she didn't hold it against him and it turns out they are both about the same age. They eventually got married ...
One thing I will say ... he really did at least look closer to the younger age than our famous OP.
I mean the OP is really pushing it to even remotely say he looks 25 years younger than his true age ...
