Posted: 10/25/2009 6:29:24 AM | Some prefer to spend time talking to somone before meeting them but that still wont make them become the person you fancy when you do eventually meet up. I am a firm believer in just going for it altho my theory hasnt exactly worked out for me either! It wouldnt hurt to be upfront from the begining and be direct about wanting to meet them sooner rather than later. Your profile gives the impression that your a very independant person that wouldnt stand nonsense so be that person when talking to these prospective suiters.
And by the way 132 mails in a week is astounding I am lucky if i get 1 a month! | |

some i dident like for a number of reasons
some that dident like me there choice no hard feelings ect
but what i hate is when you have had a good time both parties agree to having a good time
then when you get home he texts says hes had a lovely meet /date and wants to meet again
you text back and your text is ignored
whats that all about men and mind games grrrrrrrrrrrr | |

Posted: 10/25/2009 7:05:32 AM | Did i say a week i meant 2 weeks and must have been a lucky 2 weeks too. I was shocked and made me address myself and realise how fussy i was being!!!
Think the trouble is the profiles aren't enough, i've met guys in the past (in the real world : )) who if they were on here i probably wouldn't look twice and yet i've met them first and dated them because the attraction came later and they were great people too.
I also think that's the trouble, maybe i'm too independant and this can scare guys off. A lot of my ex's always remark on how independant i am. But of course i am i've always looked after myself, no guys ever stepped up to the mark on that front. | |

I had lots of messages when I first joined and have been on two dates.
First date looked 10 years older than his picture and about 4 inch shorter, disappointing.
Second date also looked nothing like his picture and was a lot heavier and older looking than his profile pic.
I am going to ask any men who message me from now on to take a pic that same day and send me it so I don't have to go through all that again! | |

In some cases it stayed at one date, but still had fun. With others it just fizzled out after a few.
And with others I am still in touch, but more as friends.
The disappointing two were because one looked older and heavier than he had led me to believe he was (I had seen pictures but led to believe the 'good' ones were recent ones), and the other guy looked fine but was a bit peculiar - everything had to be very cheap (probably why he picked me) or free (parking, coffee, entrance etc.). | |

Posted: 10/27/2009 12:22:56 PM | I have dated only one guy from here, I really have nothing bad to say about him, it was good while it lasted but it was nothing serious or heavy. We were not a good match because he was 10 years younger than me, great looking, well educated, we had almost identical interests and political views. I think he can get any girl he wants, and I did feel a little bit anxious about what he has actually seen in me and I was quite careful not to allow this to develop into a relationship.
On the other side I met over 100 guys, but these were just meets, had a great time, only few of them are friends, others not... | |

It seems there is something about me that women just dont like! Yes yes i know blah blah, feeling sorry for myself, but am i?
So far, about 4 dates, and each and every single one has declared that evening, that they really like me, cant wait to see me again blah blah, then not one word since!
I dont turn up to dates wearing Hannibal Lecter gear complete with bloodstained chainsaw, and I dont bend down on one knee and ask them for marriage there and then, I just treat it as a situation to meet up, relax, chat on all manner of subjects depending on how the evening progresses, have a few laughs and all the usual. No sexual innuendo or anything that is pretty much a cert to put them off. I guess driving a bus, not having my own property, oh and a child from a past long term relationship is what does the damage. Makign that bit up? Nah, usually that what I get told!
In short, I feel that thera are many on this site, too many, who either abuse it for sex, or have deep rooted problems, be it too high self esteem, or too low, but problems which mean they will be unable to form relationships. MAny down to them simply not wanting to make the effort, or expecting the perfect man to land in thier lap, no work, no effort needed.
It's a shame, as I do try to use this site seriously, but it's let down by so many others, still, battle on I will....... | |

also i can tell you that even , yes even shorter guys can be loving, caring and passionate too, and no the height issue isn`t getting on my tit$ either...........iam 5`5" and iam very tall, i hold my proud head up very high, very high indeed.

Looks arent everything, attraction is and i dont like short guys my preference there is a whole thread on here about short men and plenty of POF woman stated that they love them and arent bothered by height, i am so why waste anyones time theirs or mine? | |

I had a few dates a couple of years ago and only one of them had The Spark. Most of them were nice enough, just not 'it'. I've just started looking again, and I'm hoping that there will be more sparks this time....... | |

Posted: 11/4/2009 1:37:18 AM | joined the site a few weeks ago and have been asked on dates - most of them i declined because i didnt feel a physical or mental attraction. I did arrange to go on one date but i cancelled at the last minute because it just didnt "feel right", and yes i feel terrible about it but i think my feeling turned out to be the right one. A couple of weeks ago i started chatting to someone who i found to be intelligent, funny, attractive and he made me smile like you would not believe!
We have so much in common and although he is a fair way from me and he works away alot we decided to meet for a drink to see if there was a spark! Cue - trying on 50 outfits, nerves making my hands shake and worrying about whether he would take one look and bolt out the back door! Anyway, i need not have worried, ok i talked way too much but he was happy to listen, the date went great and i am seeing him again next week! ! fingers crossed it works out! | |

There was one though who talked and talked and talked. She was gifted. She could talk and drink at the same time and didn't need to stop for breath. Everything I managed to say to her was an interruption. I had one pint and a diet coke. she drank probably two bottles of wine, all bought by me, which wasn't an issue. Every time I went to the bar she said "Before you go I just want to tell you....."
Hamlet's Soliloquy and Jilly Goolden doing her 'Vagina Monologue' paled into nothing against this orator. I managed to get possibly 20 words in. At the end of this 2 + hour monologue she announced that I was boring and clearly not interested in her as I hadn't listened to a word she said, and left to drive home with her two bottles of wine inside her.
Met a couple of lovely women with whom things didn't quite work out but - I know the sort of woman I like and - why go on dates just for the sake of it? | |

He is a really genuine, nice guy and even if we end up just being friends, then it has been worthwhile coming on the site! | |
